Formalization of the Access Control on ARM-Android Platform with the B Method

ARM-Android is a widespread mobile platform with multi-layer access control mechanisms, security-critical in the system. Many access control vulnerabilities still exist due to the course-grained policy and numerous engineering defects, which have been widely studied. However, few researches focus on the mechanism formalization, including the Android permission framework, kernel process management and hardware isolation. This paper first develops a comprehensive formal access control model on the ARM-Android platform using the B method, from the Android middleware to hardware layer. All the model specifications are type checked and proved to be well-defined, with 75%of proof obligations demonstrated automatically. The results show that the proposed B model is feasible to specify and verify access control schemes in the ARM-Android system, and capable of implementing a practical control module.

The reduced density matrices of a many-body quantum system form a convex set, whose three-dimensional projection is convex in R3. The boundary of may exhibit nontrivial geometry, in particular ruled surfaces. Two physical mechanisms are known for the origins of ruled surfaces： symmetry breaking and gapless. In this work, we study the emergence of ruled surfaces for systems with local Hamiltonians in infinite spatial dimension, where the reduced density matrices are known to be separable as a consequence of the quantum de Finetti＇s theorem. This allows us to identify the reduced density matrix geometry with joint product numerical range II of the Hamiltonian interaction terms. We focus on the case where the interaction terms have certain structures, such that a ruled surface emerges naturally when taking a convex hull of ∏. We show that, a ruled surface on sitting in ∏ has a gapless origin, otherwise it has a symmetry breaking origin. As an example, we demonstrate that a famous ruled surface, known as the oloid, is a possible shape of , with two boundary pieces of symmetry breaking origin separated by two gapless lines.

Network slicing for service-oriented networks under resource constraints

To support multiple on-demand services over fixed communication networks, network operators must allow flexible customization and fast provision of their network resources. One effective approach to this end is network virtualization, whereby each service is mapped to a virtual subnetwork providing dedicated on-demand support to network users. In practice, each service consists of a prespecified sequence of functions, called a service function chain (SFC), while each service function in a SFC can only be provided by some given network nodes. Thus, to support a given service, we must select network function nodes according to the SFC and determine the routing strategy through the function nodes in a specified order. A crucial network slicing problem that needs to be addressed is how to optimally localize the service functions in a physical network as specified by the SFCs, subject to link and node capacity constraints. In this paper, we formulate the network slicing problem as a mixed binary linear program and establish its strong NP-hardness. Furthermore, we propose efficient penalty successive upper bound minimization (PSUM) and PSUM-R(ounding) algorithms, and two heuristic algorithms to solve the problem. BACKGROUND:Distinction between pre-microRNAs (precursor microRNAs) and length-similar pseudo pre-microRNAs can reveal more about the regulatory mechanism of RNA biological processes. Machine learning techniques have been widely applied to deal with this challenging problem. However, most of them mainly focus on secondary structure information of pre-microRNAs, while ignoring sequence-order information and sequence evolution information. RESULTS:We use new features for the machine learning algorithms to improve the classification performance by characterizing both sequence order evolution information and secondary structure graphs. We developed three steps to extract these features of pre-microRNAs. We first extract features from PSI-BLAST profiles and Hilbert-Huang transforms, which contain rich sequence evolution information and sequence-order information respectively. We then obtain properties of small molecular networks of pre-microRNAs, which contain refined secondary structure information. These structural features are carefully generated so that they can depict both global and local characteristics of pre-microRNAs. In total, our feature space covers 591 features. The maximum relevance and minimum redundancy (mRMR) feature selection method is adopted before support vector machine (SVM) is applied as our classifier. The constructed classification model is named MicroRNA -NHPred. The performance of MicroRNA -NHPred is high and stable, which is better than that of those state-of-the-art methods, achieving an accuracy of up to 94.83% on same benchmark datasets. CONCLUSIONS:The high prediction accuracy achieved by our proposed method is attributed to the design of a comprehensive feature set on the sequences and secondary structures, which are capable of characterizing the sequence evolution information and sequence-order information, and global and local information of pre-microRNAs secondary structures. VMKDO: Verifiable multi-keyword search over encrypted cloud data for dynamic data-owner

The advantages of cloud computing encourage individuals and enterprises to outsource their local data storage and computation to cloud server, however, data security and privacy concerns seriously hinder the practicability of cloud storage. Although searchable encryption (SE) technique enables cloud server to provide fundamental encrypted data retrieval services for data-owners, equipping with a result verification mechanism is still of prime importance in practice as semi-trusted cloud server may return incorrect search results. Besides, single keyword search inevitably incurs many irrelevant results which result in waste of bandwidth and computation resources. In this paper, we are among the first to tackle the problems of data-owner updating and result verification simultaneously. To this end, we devise an efficient cryptographic primitive called as verifiable multi-keyword search over encrypted cloud data for dynamic data-owner scheme to protect both data confidentiality and integrity. Rigorous security analysis proves that our scheme is secure against keyword guessing attack (KGA) in standard model. As a further contribution, the empirical experiments over real-world dataset show that our scheme is efficient and feasible in practical applications.

Valley degrees of freedom, providing a novel way to increase the capacity and efficiency of information storage and processing, has become an important instrument for photonics. However, at present stage, valley photonics is restricted to unprotected valley transport and valley Hall effects at zigzag interfaces, limiting its development and applications. Here, we demonstrate realization, engineering, and manipulation of valley-polarized topological kink states at generic interfaces in ultrathin substrate-integrated photonic circuitry experimentally. The robustness of the valley-polarized topological kink states at generic interfaces is verified by the robust in-gap transmission though sharply bending interface channels and disordered domain wall channels, respectively. With the ultrathin substrate-integrated photonic architecture, we realize geometry-dependent topological channel intersections. This platform has ultrathin thicknesses and excellent self-consistent electrical shielding, which is perfectly compatible with the conventional substrate-integrated photonic circuits. Our study thus provides a novel pathway for controlling valley degrees of freedom in photonics and may work as a novel integration platform for information processing that has disorder-insensitivity, easy access, and lightweight. With the rapid development of mobile embedded devices and the increasing number of users, a lot of attention has been drawn to the dynamic analysis for Android OS. In the security analysis domain, programmes' automated execution is the first and most important step. However, existent standard solutions based on Android Package (APK) had shown negative impact to the overall system, especially in behavioral coverage and memory footprint. In order to address the problem of programmes' automated execution in Android OS, this paper proposes a novel method of APK-based automated execution and traversal using GUI, analyzes Graphical User Interface (GUI) elements, and simulates user behavior. We implement a prototype tool for automated execution and traversal of lightweight applications on an ARM-based platform. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective and feasible with high coverage and low overhead.

Mott insulator plays a central role in strongly correlated physics, where the repulsive Coulomb interaction dominates over the electron kinetic energy and leads to insulating states with one electron occupying each unit cell.1,2 Doped Mott insulator is often described by the Hubbard model3, which can give rise to other correlated phenomena such as unusual magnetism and even high temperature superconductivity2,4. A tunable Mott insulator, where the competition between the Coulomb interaction and the kinetic energy can be varied in situ, can provide an invaluable model system for the study of Mott physics. Here we report the realization of such a tunable Mott insulator in the ABC trilayer graphene (TLG) and hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) heterostructure with a moiré superlattice. Unlike massless Dirac electrons in monolayer graphene5,6, electrons in pristine ABC TLG are characterized by quartic energy dispersion and large effective mass7-11 that are conducive for strongly correlated phenomena. The moiré superlattice12-18 in TLG/hBN heterostructures leads to narrow electronic minibands that are gatetunable. Each filled miniband contains 4 electrons in one moiré lattice site due to the spin and valley degeneracy of graphene. The Mott insulator states emerge at 1/4 and 1/2 fillings, corresponding to one electron and two electrons per site, respectively. Moreover, the Mott states in the ABC TLG/hBN heterostructure exhibit unprecedented tunability: The Mott gap can be modulated in situ by a vertical electrical field, and at the mean time the electron doping can be gate-tuned to fill the band from one Mott insulating state to another. Our observation of a tunable Mott insulator opens up exciting opportunities to explore novel strongly correlated phenomena in two-dimensional moiré superlattice heterostructures. Information diffusion network inferring and pathway tracking

Network diffusion, such as spread of ideas, rumors, contagious disease, or a new type of behaviors, is one of the fundamental processes within networks. Designing effective strategies for influence spread maximization, rumor spread minimization, or epidemic immunization has attracted considerable research attention. However, a key challenge is that many times we can only observe the trace of contagion spreading across network, but the underlying network structure is unknown and the transmission rates between node pairs are unclear to us. In this paper, given the observed information cascades, we aim to address two problems:diffusion network structure inferring and information diffusion pathways tracking. We propose a novel probabilistic model called Network Inferring from Multidimensional Features of Cascades(NIMFC) which takes into account heterogeneous features, including temporal and topological features of cascades, node attributes, and information content, to infer the latent network structure and transmission rates of edges. Also, based on the inferred network structure, we may track diffusion pathways of a cascade in social networks. We use blocked coordinate descent method to learn a sparse estimation of the latent network. Our proposed model NIMFC is evaluated both on large synthetic and real-world data sets, and experimental results show that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art models both in terms of recovering the latent network structure and information pathway tracking.
