With the convergence of computer technology and industrial networks, attackers are not limited to attacking only individual users' computers, turning to attack industrial control systems that can cause major infrastructure problems. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) are the core components of industrial control systems. Its safety has a profound impact on the safety of the entire industrial system. This paper firstly classifies the security research of PLC according to the structure and function, and expounds the existing security defects of PLC from the aspects of firmware security, operation security and program security. Then it summarizes and analyzes four types of security protection measures: the integrity of verification firmware, protocol security encryption, code formal verification, and program security defence detection. Finally, according to the overall safety of the industrial system and the actual development of the current PLC, we discuss the development trend of safety research. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The progress of target network topology discovery research is slow due to the uncertainty of the target network range, and large-scale network measurement activities lead to a large accumulation of "false links" in the results, it is difficult to obtain a relatively accurate network topology. In this paper, we proposed a statistical-based target network steady-state topology discovery method. By statistical analyzing the characteristics of the measured data, we have proposed corresponding solutions to network boundary recognition, "false links" deletion and network steady-state topology construction, so that a relatively complete and accurate target network steady topology can be obtained. We also use this method to probe the HK (Hong Kong) and TW (Tai Wan) network and compare it with the data of CAIDA in the same period. Not only do the number of nodes and edges found are increased by two or three orders of magnitude, but also the number of "false links" in the results is greatly reduced. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Sign languages are the primary medium of communication for the deaf and hearing-impaired community, and the number of human beings with hearing impairment is increasing at a rapid rate. There is a significant communication barrier between the hearing-impaired and normal-hearing communities. One solution to this issue is to offload the effort of text understanding for the deaf and hearing-impaired community in the form of Sign Language Generation (SLG). In this paper, first of all, we systematically review the mainstream Neural Machine Translation (NMT)-based SLG approaches. Specifically, according to their model architectures, we divide them into two categories: the Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs)-based and Transformer-based models, and discuss their advantages and limitations. Next, we introduce the existing publicly available datasets and the data preprossessing methods in the field of SLG. Then, we summarize the performance evaluation methods for NMT-based SLG models. Finally, we offer two possible future research directions for better development in the field of SLG.

In this paper, we introduce a novel topology optimization scheme dedicated to designing waveguides with inhomogeneities holding rotation and reflection symmetries. At begining, we build the scheme by first developing a new computational algorithm that combines the Finite Element Method with the group representation theory. This combination allows the decomposition of the eigenvalue problem in a classic FEM to orthogonal (decoupled) subproblems, which therefore leads to an improved solver efficiency by order of magnitude. For a targeted mode profile, the involvement of the GRT does not only enable a pre-selection of the subproblems that are to be optimized, which further improves the computational speed, but also completely avoids potential mode degeneracies, which adversely affects the convergence of the optimization. To validate, the GRT – FEM algorithm is first tested against the results from a full FEM simulation for a guide with inhomogeneities with six-fold rotation and reflection symmetries. Then, the entire scheme is applied to achieve a desired eigenmode with a targeted propagation constant. The proposed scheme does not only provide an efficient design tool for exploiting interesting wave phenomena in waveguiding structures, but also lays down a theoretical foundation for systematically integrating symmetries with classic Computational Electromagnetics algorithms. © 2024, The Authors. In this paper, we focus on differential fault attack on lightweight block ciphers with GFN (Generalized Feistel Networks) structure. With regard to fault injection model and differential equations solving, two improved DFA (Differential Fault Analysis) methods are proposed. Based on this, we present the improved attack process which aims at applying lightweight block ciphers with GFN structure. We conduct 10000 DFA experiments on TWINE and LBlock. Result shows that it only takes 9.18 and 8.42 faults on average to recover the main key K respectively. Moreover, time and space complexity are both negligible. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the development of information technology, electronic evidence plays an increasingly important role in the judicial trial. In Judicial Forensics, it is difficult to extract effective electronic evidence accurately and quickly from a large number of electronic data. Traditional means generally take artificial identification to collect, which takes a long time and is not efficient. Using SSD target detection and recognition algorithm instead of traditional means can effectively reduce the time of screening evidence, but the basic SSD neural network is prone to miss detection for small targets. To solve the above problems, an improved SSD-based image electronic evidence screening method is proposed. This method optimizes the SSD neural network adaptively, introduces the attention mechanism module in the shallow convolution layer of the network to improve the representation ability of the feature map, and fuses the image features obtained from different convolution layers with multi-scale features to increase the shallow feature information. The experimental data are used to test the improved algorithm and analyze the experimental results. It is found that compared with the original SSD neural network algorithm, the detection mean average precision of the improved algorithm is increased by 4.7%, reaching 84.3%, which shows the feasibility and effectiveness of the improved algorithm.

The Sampling Method for Optimal Precursors of ENSO Events

El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is one of the significant climate phenomena, which appears periodically in the tropic Pacific. The intermediate coupled ocean-atmosphere Zebiak-Cane (ZC) model is the first and classical one designed to numerically forecast the ENSO events. Traditionally, the conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation (CNOP) approach has been used to capture optimal precursors in practice. In this paper, based on state-of-the-art statistical machine learning techniques,1 we investigate the sampling algorithm proposed in [Shi and Sun, 2023] to obtain optimal precursors via the CNOP approach in the ZC model. For the ZC model, or more generally, the numerical models with dimension O(104−105), the numerical performance, regardless of the statically spatial patterns and the dynamical nonlinear time evolution behaviors as well as the corresponding quantities and indices, shows the high efficiency of the sampling method by comparison with the traditional adjoint method. The sampling algorithm does not only reduce the gradient (first-order information) to the objective function value (zeroth-order information) but also avoids the use of the adjoint model, which is hard to develop in the coupled ocean-atmosphere models and the parameterization models. In addition, based on the key characteristic that the samples are independently and identically distributed, we can implement the sampling algorithm by parallel computation to shorten the computation time. Meanwhile, we also show in the numerical experiments that the important features of optimal precursors can be still captured even when the number of samples is reduced sharply. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

In recent years, the demand for facial expression recognition applications has increased rapidly, and its research has received extensive attention from researchers. However, the current recognition methods based on deep learning ignore the idea of multiple head attention and semantic consistency, resulting in the model only paying attention to the local area of the feature map. In addition, the model's inconsistent attention to the images before and after the flip, resulting the poor robustness, poor interpretation, and other shortcomings in the model. To address the above problems, we propose an Affinity Separation Loss (ASLoss), which improves the separability of samples through clustering. Moreover, a Separate Multi-head Attention block (SMA), and a Zonal Loss (ZLoss) are also designed to decentralize the model's attention. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed MACNet method achieves competitive recognition performance on two public datasets RAF-DB and FERPlus.

Optimal Bilinear Equalizer for Cell-Free Massive MIMO Systems over Correlated Rician Channels

In this paper, we explore the low-complexity optimal bilinear equalizer (OBE) combining scheme design for cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output networks with spatially correlated Rician fading channels. We provide a spectral efficiency (SE) performance analysis framework for both the centralized and distributed processing schemes with bilinear equalizer (BE)-structure combining schemes applied. The BE-structured combining is a set of schemes that are constructed by the multiplications of channel statistics-based BE matrices and instantaneous channel estimates. Notably, we derive closed-form achievable SE expressions for centralized and distributed BE-structured combining schemes. We propose one centralized and two distributed OBE schemes: Centralized OBE (C-OBE), Distributed OBE based on Global channel statistics (DG-OBE), and Distributed OBE based on Local channel statistics (DL-OBE), which maximize their respective SE expressions. OBE matrices in these schemes are tailored based on varying levels of channel statistics. Notably, we obtain new and insightful closed-form results for the C-OBE, DG-OBE, and DL-OBE combining schemes. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed OBE schemes can achieve excellent SE, even in scenarios with severe pilot contamination. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
