This paper proposes a distributed algorithm to solve the economic dispatch problem (EDP) in microgrids based on an event-triggered mechanism with consideration of the privacy-preserving. To protect the privacy of participants in microgrids, each agent only needs to broadcast one local state by the well-designed algorithm. And a random noise is added based on the differential privacy to improve the privacy preservation further. Besides, the distributed algorithm is implemented by an event-triggered mechanism to reduce the consumption of communication resources and enhance the efficiency of algorithm execution. The simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed distributed algorithm. Compared to the continuous-time communication, the event-triggered mechanism can obtain the same convergence speed, but only consumes 30% communication resources. Statistical analysis shows that this method can protect privacy by introducing random noise. © 2020 IEEE.

The consumption and abandonment problem has become an inescapable issue for the development of renewable energy industry. It's generally recognized that multi-energy complementary technology and energy storage technology are the noteworthy methods. The main purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of using variable-speed generation units to improve the wind-solar-water complementary capability of hydropower stations, which combines the characteristics of the hydro-mechanical-electric system of a hydropower station with the advantages of variable-speed units, and it promised to expand the functions of hydropower stations and make the profit channels of hydropower stations more diversified. In order to realize the method, a complete mathematical description of variable-speed hydropower system was given, then it was verified with random fluctuations of wind power and photovoltaic power. © 2021 IEEE.

We demonstrate a thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) integrated dynamic polarization controller (DPC) driven by an adaptive gradient descent algorithm for fast polarization tracking. Experimental results show that the TFLN-based DPC exhibits a fast response time of 530-ps, and achieves a polarization tracking speed of up to 200-krad/s when targeting a specific linear state of polarization (SOP).

In proton therapy, the acoustic waves produced by the proton radiation can be measured to determine the proton range. The k-Wave MATLAB toolbox is used to simulate the propagation process of pressure waves in time and space. By measuring the time-of-flight (TOF) of the pressure wave, the Bragg peak distance is obtained. In this study, we obtain the error maps for different pulse widths, which show that angle is the influencing factor of protoacoustic TOF range calculations. To reduce the systematic errors, the angle θ (θ is the angle between the proton beam direction and the vector passing Bragg peak and the sensor) is mapped to the systematic error using a fifth-order polynomial to obtain the correction factor, . The presented simulations show that by correcting the distance with , the systematic error of protoacoustic range verification can be controlled within 1mm under different proton pulses widths. © 2021 ACM.

We report a simple and effective approach to reversely tailoring the tubes of an antiresonant hollow-core fiber (AR-HCF). The AR-HCFs with elliptical-shaped shrinkage tubes, implemented by a traditional flame brushing technique, were characterized for what we believe to be the first time. We have thus achieved a 70 nm wide bandpass filter with a minimum extra loss below 0.1 dB and the out-of-band suppression up to 28 dB in the 800 nm wide spectral range via the combination of down-tapering and reverse-tapering of AR-HCFs. The elliptical-shaped tubes can reduce the deformation-induced confinement loss when tailoring the thickness of HCF. The ability to tailor the shape and thickness of tubes of AR-HCF in a submicron-scale using a traditional flame taper rig will benefit the fabrication of in-fiber HCF devices such as the low-loss HCF bandpass filter with high out-of-band suppression.

At present, Poly-p-phenylene benzobisoxazole (PBO) fiber is one of the most preferred reinforcement materials for magnet. However, the poor interface performance between the PBO fiber and resin matrix has become the bottleneck of the pulse magnetic field intensity improvement. Surface modification of the PBO fiber may be an effective way to solve this problem. In this paper, PBO fibers were treated by atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in air under different treatment time. It is found that when the discharge power density remained unchanged at 8.49W/cm 2 , the optimal treatment time is 60s. In this case, the shear strength of PBO fiber-resin interface increases up to 52.77% compared with the untreated, while the tensile strength of fiber monofilament only decreases 4.73%. The plasma treatment results in a large number of deep pits and protrusions on the surface of PBO fibers and a significant increase in roughness. The relative content of C element on the surface of PBO fiber decreases significantly, the content of O element increases obviously, and the content of N element increases slightly. Polar groups -O-C=N- and -C=O- are introduced through grafting copolymerization reaction, which enhances the chemical activity and wettability of the fiber surface. All of these contribute to the interfacial shear strength increase between the PBO fiber and the resin.

The low-dimensional frustrated antiferromagnet system has been an appealing playground for investigating the exotic magnetic ground states. The S=1/2 skew chain Co2V2O7 attracted considerable interest for its magnetization plateau and the emergent ferroelectricity under high magnetic fields. In this work, we report the comprehensive angular studies of the magnetization plateau and the ferroelectric polarization in Co2V2O7 under high fields up to 30 T. The magnetization was studied in detail with the applied field rotated within the bc and ab planes. We find that the 1/2 magnetization plateau is enhanced with the field rotating within the bc plane and becomes most pronounced when the field is titled 30∘ away from the b axis (denoted as the b* axis). The temperature dependence of ferroelectric polarization was also studied along the a, c, and b* axes, respectively. Based on these polarization measurements, the magnetic field temperature phase diagrams have been constructed for the three axes. We propose a model which considers the decoupling of the two inequivalent Co spins to explain the exotic polarization flop and the phase diagrams. This decoupling is considered to be enhanced by the dimerization effect, and that the non-negligible interchain interaction J3 plays a crucial role.

The AC transmission network of Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) usually adapts the overhead line, so the single-phase grounding faults of the AC side are rather general. At this time, the protection system will cut off the fault line for the first time, so there are two unbalance grid conditions (UGCs), i.e. single-phase grounding (SGUGC) and disconnection (SDUGC) during this process. However, the comparative analysis of small-signal stability under two different UGCs has never been involved. Therefore, when ignoring the transient process of faults and protection actions, and considering the inherent properties of the MMC system, two small-signal models based on the linear time-periodic (LTP) theory are built under SGUGC and SDUGC, respectively. Then, the influence of control parameters on the system stability under the two UGCs is compared in detail, and the results provide theoretical support for the control parameters optimization after protection system action. Finally, the detailed nonlinear MMC grid-connected model verifies the analysis results. © 2021 IEEE.

Metamaterial absorber is a kind of metamaterial that has a great application prospect in electric vacuum devices. In the design of metamaterial absorbers, electromagnetic simulation is a more efficient and cost-effective method. The FEM/BEM combines the advantages of FEM and IE method and especially suitable for the simulation of metamaterial absorbers. In this paper, we developed an electromagnetic simulator based on the domain decomposition based FEM/BEM method for the analysis of metamaterial absorbers. The numerical analysis shows that the simulator is accurate and practicable for simulation of metamaterial absorber.
