A single-layer wideband dual-polarized differential-fed filtering antenna with low profile and high selectivity is proposed. First, the patch antenna excited differential feed is loaded with shorting pins array to adjust the TM10, TM11 and TM12 modes, such that TM10 and TM11 modes are closely positioned to broaden the impedance bandwidth, while the TM12 mode moves out of the passband, resulting in a radiation null. Second, the patch electromagnetically excites surrounding symmetric Vertical Split-Ring Resonators (VSRRs), yielding an extra resonance mode for wide band and a higher edge radiation null for a sharp roll-off rate. Third, Complimentary Split-Ring Resonators (CSRRs) inscribed around two pairs of differential feeds manifest a tunable lower edge radiation null to increase frequency selectivity. Finally, the proposed filtering antenna exhibits a 21.4% operational bandwidth with a peak gain of 9.7 dBi within the passband, the generation of three radiation nulls was observed, and high selectivity.

Digital twin (DT) is a key technology to improve the digital and intelligent level of substation operation and maintenance. In order to accelerate the application of DT in substations, this paper deeply studies the framework structure and key technologies of the substation DT. First, combined with the operational characteristics of substation, a five-dimensional DT model is proposed, which consists of physical entities of substation, digital models of substation, twin service, twin datasets, and the connection among the parts. Secondly, the framework structure for realizing the substation DT is designed, including device layer, perception layer, network layer, platform layer and application layer. Finally, the key technologies of substation DT are analyzed, and three technical aspects are elaborated from the application of 3D digital model fusion, the construction of substation lightweight digital model, and the interaction between data middle platform and application layer based on multi-agent. © 2022 IEEE.

Impurity radiation seeding of neoclassical tearing mode growth

The physics of neoclassical tearing mode (NTM) is of great concern to the tokamak plasma stability and performance, especially in the burning plasma regime. Whereas a great deal about the different seeding mechanisms have been understood, and in many situations the seed event can be clearly identified, the potential seeding process of NTM due to the resistive tearing instability driven by the impurity radiation cooling still needs more studies. Recent NIMROD simulations have demonstrated that the local impurity radiation cooling can drive the seed island growth and trigger the subsequent onset of neoclassical tearing mode instability. The seed island is mainly driven by the local helical perturbation of the diamagnetic current induced by the perturbed pressure gradient as a result of the impurity radiative cooling on the rational surface. A heuristic closure for the neoclassical viscosity is adopted, and the seed island is further driven by the perturbed bootstrap current induced from the neoclassical electron viscous stress in the extended Ohm’s law. The growth rate of the NTM in simulations is found proportional to the electron neoclassical viscosity, and a theoretical neoclassical driving term is adopted to account for the nonlinear neoclassical island growth in the *** Codes 76W05 (Primary) © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

To achieve controlled fusion, a variety of high voltage power supplies (HVPS) are vital for heating plasma to certain temperatures such as those in electron cyclotron resonance heating system (ECRH) and neutral beam injection (NBI) system. As a kind of HVPS widely used in fusion, presented article describes development, basic principles and current applications of pulse step modulation (PSM) based regulated high-voltage power supplies (RHVPS). A detailed study of important parameters and practical methods to improve its performance or address crucial issues of PSM based RHVPS are also shown in article. Various modulation discussed here, particularly, PSM shows great promising application in underwater acoustic transponder, high power motor driver etc. for its many advantages in inverter. © 2021 IEEE.

Major issues of the acceleration grid power supplies (AGPS) for negative ion based neutral beam injector (N-NBI) contain generation of DC high voltage and suppression of surge energy into the beam source at breakdown. An inverter type power supply has been designed as the 200 kV/25 A AGPS for CFETR N-NBI prototype. The circuit parameters and the structure of the diode rectifier with oil-impregnated insulation is designed. The maximum electric field intensity in rectifier tank is 9.8 kV/mm by 3D electrostatic field simulation. To prevent damage of the beam source from fault energy at high voltage breakdown, a core snubber made of Fe-based nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials is designed. The eddy current ratio is determined to be 1 by the simulation and test verification on a snubber prototype. The designed snubber can limit the fault current within 1kA in simulation, and the surge suppression is more efficient through the distributed core snubber. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper introduces a general dead time compensation method for voltage source inverter. By analyzing the dead time effect caused by the current freewheeling and switching delay, the precise dead time compensation can be implemented by reconstructing the actual phase current with the general current ripple prediction and pulse delay measurement. Simulation and experimental results are provided to validate the proposed method with good performance, and the proposed method can be extended to different topologies and modulation schemes. © 2020 IEEE.

Partial discharge (PD) is a common fault in power equipment, which poses a serious threat to the safe operation of large generators. This study is to analyze the phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) mode of large generator stator in detail, and to explore the characteristics of different typical insulation defects in PRPD mode. In this study, typical defect types of stator bar are made, including delamination defects between the conductor and insulation, delamination defects between insulation and insulation, defects in the slot, and defects at the end. Voltage withstand tests were carried out at 20 kV, and PRPD patterns with 1, 10, 100, 1000 superposition groups of different defects were obtained. Main conclusions can be drawn as follows: (1) Unique shapes in patterns are evident at different superposition group sizes. As for delamination defects between the conductor and insulation, unique cluster can be clearly seen in low-number superposition groups but another unique cluster can be clearly seen in high-number superposition groups. (2) The PRPD patterns of different superposition groups of the same defect type can be well separated by t-SNE. As for defects in slot, the silhouette coefficients and rand coefficients gradually increase. (3) The more superimposed groups are, the better the PRPD patterns of different defect types can be distinguished. As for defects at the end, the discreteness gradually increases and the densities gradually decreases as the superposition groups increase.

In this study, the home energy management problem, which can be regarded as a high-dimensional optimization problem, for numerous residential houses, is addressed. The concept of the aggregator is utilized to reduce the state and action space and to handle the high dimensionality. A two-stage deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based approach is proposed for the aggregators to track the schedule from a superior grid and guarantee the operation constraints. In the first stage, a DRL control agent is set to learn the optimal scheduling strategy interacting with the environment based on the soft-actor-critic framework and generate the aggregate control actions. In the second stage, the aggregate control actions are disaggregated to individual appliances considering the users' behaviors. The uncertainty of an electric vehicle's charging demand is quantitatively expressed based on the driver's experience. An aggregate anxiety concept is introduced to characterize the driver's anxiety on the electric vehicle's range and uncertain events. Finally, simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach under dynamic user behaviors, and comparisons show the superiority of the proposed approach over other benchmark methods.

Spinel nickel vanadate has not been synthesized and applied to anode for lithium-ion batteries on account of the missing synthetic route. In the study, a simple route is created to obtain a new spinel Ni2VO4/acetylene black composite. The obtained Ni2VO4 nanoparticles are ultrasmall and anchored on acetylene black, which could markedly mitigate the volume alteration and elevate electrochemical reaction kinetics. For this reason, a large reversible capacity of 511 mAh g-1 was maintained at 350th cycle under 1 A g-1. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The adaptive mesh refinement(AMR) is important for simulation of macrowave devices. It contributes to obtaining more accurate results. When AMR is based on recovery type(RC), the refinement is limited to the characteristics of field distribution. This paper presents a AMR method based on residual type(RS). Based on the solved equation and the solution of each element, the posteriori error estimates can be used for refinement directly.
