This paper mainly designs a high-power free electron laser injector system, which has a low-emittance electron gun using a gridded thermionic cathode. The distance between the anode and the radio frequency cavity exit is designed to be as short as possible in the manufacturing level. In the process of optimizing the electron gun, simulation by cell signaling technology is mainly conducted on the effects of the shape, hole spacing, wire size, and thickness of the grid on the electron beam's emittance, particle passing rate and so on. Therefore, the optimal parameters of the electron gun, especially the structure of the grid and the grid bias voltage, are obtained, generating a uniformly distributed current with current intensity of 0.5 A, the pulse length of 1 ns, and a normalized root mean square emittance of 1.6 mmmrad. In order to reduce the increase in emittance caused by the space charge effect in the low energy region, a -50 kV electron gun is connected to a 476 MHz sub-harmonic buncher through a drift section with the solenoid. The optimization in Parmela resulted in excellent longitudinal phase space, beam spot size, and emittance of the electron beam at the injector exit. © 2023 IEEE.

The phase difference Δξ between locked islands(2/1 and 3/1) has been found to influence the heat transport on the thermal quench during disruptions by numerical modeling [Hu Q et al *** 59,016005].To verify this experimentally,a set of resonant magnetic perturbation(RMP) coils is required to excite coupled magnetic islands with different Δξ.The spectrum analysis shows that the current RMP coils on J-TEXT can only produce sufficient 2/1 and 3/1RMP fields with a limited phase difference of Δξ∈[-75°,75°].In order to broaden the adjustable range of Δξ,a set of coils on the high field side(HFS) is proposed to generate 2/1 and 3/1 RMP fields with Δξ=180°.As a result,RMPs with adjustable Δξ∈[-180°,180°] and sufficient amplitudes could be achieved by applying the HFS coils and the low field side(LFS)*** work provides a feasible solution for flexible adjustment of the phase difference between m and m+1 RMP,which might facilitate the study of major disruptions and their control.

Low-temperature plasmas(LTPs) driven by 1-100 MHz radio-frequency(MRF) are essential for many industrial applications,and their breakdown characteristics are different to that of direct current(DC) *** review seeks to understand the state of the art of electric breakdown in the MRF field and provide references for related basic and applied *** have given a brief history of research into MRF-driven breakdown,including Paschen curves,the corresponding discharge modes and parameter spaces,and the evolution of the parameters during the breakdown *** is shown that the focus has been transferred from the breakdown voltage and V-I characteristics to the evolution of plasma parameters during the breakdown,both in experiments and *** is shown that many fundamental and applied problems still need to be investigated,especially with the new global model and the incorporation of the external circuit model.

Low-energy electron curtain accelerators are widely used in the field of radiation processing. In this paper, the model of the cathode emission assembly of the multi-filament electron curtain accelerator is established by CST simulation software, and the influence of the duty ratio and grid width of the semi-cylindrical control grid on the current emission characteristics of the cathode assembly is explored. It is found that the larger the duty ratio of the control grid and the wider the mesh grid width, the emission current and the current drawn at control grid increase. Especially when the width of mesh grid reaches 3mm, the current emission characteristics of the cathode assembly no longer conform to the three-half law. The research work in this paper has reference significance for the construction and design of cathode assembly.

To address the issue of high computational complexity in traditional polarized sensitive arrays for estimating signal direction of arrival (DOA) and polarization parameters, a compression structure has been proposed. The proposed structure involves the addition of a compression network in front of the front-end chains. The compression matrix generated by this network consists of complex Gaussian distributed elements. The compression matrix reduces the dimension of the sample covariance matrix, thereby reducing the complexity of the computation process. The proposed structure achieves higher accuracy in DOA and polarization parameter estimation for a given number of front-end circuit chains. Compared to traditional polarized sensitive arrays, this structure significantly reduces the computational burden in the estimation process, improving the efficiency of DOA and polarization parameter estimation. Numerical simulation results validated the effectiveness of the proposed structure. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2023.

Structure-free containment control for uncertain underactuated multiple Euler-Lagrange systems

This article studies the problem of structure-free distributed containment control for uncertain underactuated multiple Euler-Lagrange systems(MELSs) considering disturbances by using a layered approach. First, the second layer is the virtual layer constructed artificially for hierarchical control. We move all virtual nodes to the convex hull formed by leaders in the first layer by implementing containment control algorithms on all virtual nodes. Then, the third layer is the following layer, and we propose an adaptive robust tracking controller to ensure that each follower in the third layer tracks the corresponding virtual node in the second layer. So far, the underactuated MELSs can achieve containment control. Furthermore,through the theoretical derivation, sufficient conditions are obtained to achieve the objective of structure-free containment control. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed stratified structure-free containment control method is verified by a simulation example.

The increasingly frequent severe convective weather poses a serious threat to the reliability of distribution networks. In this regard, an optimal maintenance model that considers pre-disaster defense and post-disaster mitigation stages is proposed to meet the demand for resilience enhancement. During the pre-disaster defense stage, the equipment maintenance plan and the corresponding operation strategy are decided in conjunction with the failure probability of each device. During the post-disaster mitigation stage, the emergency dispatch strategy of the grid is developed considering the diversity of damage results. On these bases, the optimal pre-disaster maintenance strategy considering post-disaster situations is identified by integrating the two stages' outage losses and operating costs. Finally, the numerical results show that the proposed strategy can give an optimal maintenance plan by combining the fragility of each device, which effectively improves the outage prevention and management capability of the distribution network under severe convective weather.

The increasing passenger volume and the rapid development of the electric vehicle industry make the electricity consumption of the expressway service area grow day by day. It is of great significance to study the planning and design method of the microgrid in the expressway service area. This paper established a wind-photovoltaic-storage capacity planning model for the microgrid in expressway service areas, which considered the dust removal maintenance of photovoltaic panels. The multi-objective optimization problem was solved by the improved fast non-dominated sorted genetic algorithm (NSGA II) with the aim of minimizing the total system investment, and operating cost and maximizing the self-consistent rate of electricity consumption of the microgrid. The Pareto optimal solution frontier with uniform distribution and wide range is obtained, and the capacities of PV, wind power, energy storage, and contact line are obtained under different self-consistent rates of electricity consumption. This method can not only make full use of distributed PV resources that can be developed on the expressway to improve the self-consistent level of energy but also comprehensively evaluate the economy of the microgrid system and meet the requirements of power supply reliability. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. The segmented rotor switched reluctance motor (SSRM) has the characteristics of a short magnetic circuit, high torque density, low wind resistance, and high efficiency compared to the traditional switched reluctance motor (SRM). However, the complex manufacturing process of SSRM acts against their use. In this paper, a new type of segmented rotor switched reluctance motor with a rotor magnetic bridge (SSRMMB) is proposed, which connects the rotor blocks into a whole. The static inductance characteristics of the SSRM and SSRMMB are investigated through electromagnetic simulation. The performance of the two motors is then comparatively analyzed under angle position control (APC) and unipolar sinusoidal excitation control (USC), with a further analysis of the reasons for any differences. The simulation results show that there is little difference in the performance of the two motors during normal operation. © 2024 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
