Smart substation is the base of smart grid and it is made up of a lot of IEDs (intelligent electric device). Synchronized phasor measurement unit (PMU) plays a very important role in the smart grid, and a great deal of PMUs have been installed in China. The requirement of PMU in the smart substation is different from traditional substation. This paper introduces that the PMU is suitable for smart substation, there are several details that need to be complemented in IEC 61850 standards, and the paper gives some suggestion to improve it.

Online partial discharge monitoring for powerequipments is useful to improve the capacity of the power supply. Main technology for PD testing is introduced in this paper. Advantages and disadvantages of pulse current, UHF, ultrasonic and TEV method are present. The status quo of online PD monitoring is analyzed, and the detection effect of online PD monitoring is not good. Opinions to improve the effect are given. They include built-in sensors, increasing sensitivity and sample rate. Analysis of the state quo indicates that the relevant technical standards and specifications must be revised to improve the normalization and standardization.

With an increasing penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs) in Energy Internet, there is a surge of interest in distributed economic dispatch (DED) problems. The existing literature mainly focuses on average consensus algorithms, the convergence of which remains a bottleneck in practical applications. To improve the convergence rate of DED, this paper proposes a consensus algorithm based on optimized transition matrix (TM) of Markov chain. A DED model is firstly developed under a consensus-based information exchange architecture, in which a generator only communicates with its neighbors. Thus DED is implemented in an iterative manner with generators exchanging information according to a predefined TM. In contrast to the aver-agely weighted TM, we minimize the Frobenius norm (F-norm) of the TM in order to limit the eigenvalues that greatly influence the convergence rate of DED. Additionally, a virtual power method is introduced to meet generators' power limits by reformulating the power allocation ratio. Case studies verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
