Multi-source information based current matching state estimation for distribution network

By taking into account the real-time measurement with low redundancy and of only partial current in distribution systems and referring to the quasi-real-time current measuring data of the metering system, the current matching technique is proposed to solve the distribution network state estimation. The matching current equations in the sense of optimal estimation and its systematic solution are deduced. Based on the assumption that the load power factor is stable, a quasi-real-time measurement generating method is proposed for loads. With boundaries demarcated by real-time current measurement, the distributed network is divided into several measured areas and current matching state estimation is made for each area. Numerical tests and results of an actual system show that the method proposed can satisfy the real-time application demand of the distribution system. ©2012 State Grid Electric power Research Institute Press.

With parallel gap, by controlling the motion path of the electric arc, effectively avoid burning and damaging the insulator during lightning strike so that its importance in measures of lightning protection for transmitting line is continually improved. Initial discharge position is key consideration during design of parallel gap and depends on discharge characteristics of parallel gap under the action of lightning surge when the lightning strikes the tower or line. This paper gives three types of parallel gap used to protect the composite insulator, sets up the impulse discharge test and observation platform including high-speed camera, studies the impulse discharge characteristics of parallel gap and analyzes the influence of structural parameters on the discharge characteristics. This study showed that there is randomness for discharge path of parallel gap;three types of parallel gap given in this paper can achieve 100% discharge rate of parallel gap;the determinant of discharge rate in the presupposition discharge area (PDA) is the distance that the presupposition discharge area stands out of the whole electrode plane. When this distance exceeds 20mm or more, it can ensure that most of the discharge occurs in the PDA;the parallel gap can reduce the insulation distance of 4000mm insulator about 40mm, U50 about 1%, which may approximately consider that the parallel gap has no influence on the insulating property of the insulator. © 2011 IEEE.

As a new type of mechanical energy storage, compressed air energy storage (CAES) has attracted wide attention in recent years. This paper studies the optimal sizing problem of CAES in power distribution network (PDN). CAES plays a role in shaving the peak and filling the valley at demand side and thus reduces the operation cost of PDN to purchase electricity from the main grid. A multi-parametric linear programming (MP-LP) model is formulated where the power and energy capacities of CAES are regarded as parameters;the parameterized optimal value function (OVF) provides a graphical tool to describe the impact on operation cost of CAES configuration, which helps determine the planning strategy in a visual manner. The visualized results reveal not only the optimal solution, but also some useful information, like the sensitivity of operation cost to parameters. Case studies conducted on the IEEE 33-bus distribution system verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Magnitude and duration of voltage sags are the most important two factors to the Lower Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) capacity of the wind generator. Since most voltage sags are caused by the system faults, and sag durations are controlled by the tripping time of overcurrent relay in power collection lines based on the sags' magnitude. The specification of the LVRT capacity of wind generator is introduced into the operation characteristics of the relay in power collection lines. The evaluation model of equivalent LVRT capacity to overcurrent protection is proposed in paper, and the equivalent LVRT capacities from zone I and zone II relay are quantified. Improvement measures are also proposed.

To achieve the goal of bi-directional and interactive coordinated voltage control between provincial and district levels, the study is focused generation and execution of coordination strategy for bi-directional and interactive coordinated voltage control between provincial and district levels. Firstly, the method to generate the bi-directional and interactive coordination strategy between provincial and district levels is proposed, and the gateway coordination state transition diagram is designed to intuitionally express the criterion of the interaction between the AVC systems belonging to the upper and lower level systems respectively;then, the regularization method for expanded coordinated secondary voltage control suitable to provincial power network and the regularization method suitable to district power network are put forward respectively to realize mutual support between power networks in provincial level and district level. Results from simulation examples and on-site operations show that the proposed method is feasible and effective as well.

power transformer condition assessment is the basi of condition-based maintenance and plays a very important role in carrying assets management and risk assessment for power system. As the heart of transmission and transformation system, power transformer's condition has close relation with many factors, such as the production quality of itself, operation environment and so on. This paper analyzes some variables which could represent the transformer's condition, including the data from preventative test, factory test and commission test, diagnostic test, on-line detection and monitoring, routine inspection, operation history, family defection and environment information. Some parameters which have representation are chosen as the condition variables. Artificial neuron network (ANN) and Dempster-Shafer (D-S) evidence theory are adopted to form the multiparameter information fusion condition assessment model. Besides the static value, the change trends of some parameters are considered as an independent evidence section. Cooperating with on-line monitoring, it will be helpful to improve the accuracy and efficiency of condition assessment.

Wireless power transfer (WPT) has been a research focus in recent *** on magnetically-coupled resonant wireless power transfer (MCR-WPT),this paper made a comparison of 2 basic structures in MCR-WPT,namely the 2-coil structure and the 4-coil *** equivalent electric circuits were *** illuminate the difference between these 2 structures,the input impedance,the transfer efficiency,and the load matching were studied and verified by experimental *** conclusion can be drawn that without reducing the transfer efficiency,the additions of the source coil and the load coil in the 4-coil structure make it easier for the system to perfectly match the source and the load.

The paper proposes faulted feeder selector in power distribution system with neutral non-effectively grounded. At first, the paper presents basic principle of single-phase-to-ground fault feeder selection based on traveling waves, which compares amplitude and polarity of the initial current traveling waves in all feeders. Then the implementation scheme, including hardware design and software flowchart is presented. At last field application of faulted feeder selector is introduced. The field operation results validated the correctness of faulted feeder selector based on transient traveling wave. © 2011 IEEE.

Lighting causes great damage to power systems due to the stochastic nature of lightning discharges and the vulnerability of lightning leaders to various environments in the process of inception and propagation. In this work, the growth of diffusion limited aggregation (DLA) was adopted for reproducing branches and tortuosity of lightning channels in both 2-D and 3-D simulations. By comparing the fractal dimensions of natural lightning discharges and simulation results on various discharge settings, we discovered that a fractal coefficient η = 2 can deliver a credible model of lightning strikes. We further proved the consistency between simulation results and observations conducted in Japan during 2005 and 2006 winter seasons on lightning strikes to a windmill and its lightning-protection tower. But the credibility of the result needs to be verified by further experimental data, when the model extended from 2-D to 3-D. Moreover, striking probability and the shielding effect in the actual condition were analyzed with the proposed simulation model. © 2010 Chin. Soc. for Elec. Eng.

With the development of the power grid and the continuous construction of high-voltage transmission lines, the impact of high-voltage transmission lines in the nearby residential areas is increasingly concerned. Based on the mechanism of induction power generation, according to the relationship between voltage and electric field, this paper proposed an inductive electrical measurement method in the near-ground area under high-voltage transmission line. In this paper, the proposed method is verified by COMSOL simulation software. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper. The induced voltage measurement method in the near-ground area proposed in this paper can be applied to the evaluation of induced electricity and electromagnetic environmental protection. © 2022 IEEE.
