In order to reduce Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottle plastic waste, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) provided reverse osmosis drinking water in some buildings. Water monitoring is needed to keep the water quality. Therefore, a water monitoring system based on Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), pH, and water flow was proposed. Since the UB buildings have good internet connection (WiFi), Internet of Things (IoT) was employed to the system to support real time monitoring. So, data of TDS, pH, and water flow can be periodically sent to cloud and displayed to a specific website. The system worked very well and the data can be summarized and used by operator as indicators of performance of the reverse osmosis machine. When water quality and performance decrease, operator must check filters membrane or water pump for further maintenance to support long life use. Although the sensors have been calibrated properly, some measurement errors occur. The measurement error percentages of TDS and pH are 0.62% and 0.94%, respectively. © 2022 IEEE.

Enhanced-SETL: A multi-variable deep reinforcement learning approach for contention window optimization in dense Wi-Fi networks

In this paper, we introduce the Enhanced Smart Exponential-Threshold-Linear (Enhanced-SETL) algorithm, a new approach that uses the multi-variable Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) framework to simultaneously optimize multiple settings of the Contention Window (CW) in IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Unlike traditional DRL methods that adjust only a single CW parameter, our innovative approach simultaneously optimizes both the CW minimum (CWmin) and CW Threshold (CWThreshold), significantly improving network traffic control. We utilize a Double Deep Q-learning Network (DDQN) for dynamic updates of these CW settings, broadcasted across the dense Wi-Fi networks. This dual adjustment method, coupled with dynamic, data-driven updates, not only enhances throughput, but also reduces collision rates, and ensures fairness access across both static and dynamic wireless environments. Enhanced-SETL achieves a throughput improvement ranging from 3.55% up to 43.73% and from 3.98% up to 30.15% in static and dynamic scenarios over standard protocols and state-of-the-art DRL models, while maintaining a fairness index near 99% across diverse stations, showcasing its effectiveness and adaptability in various network conditions. © 2024

Depressive Disorders (DD) is one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the world that may lead to suicide cases. To prevent the latter, ubiquitous early detection systems may be effective. Recent studies have since researched the development of such systems by exploiting several forms of data, including video, audio, Ecological Momentary Assessments (EMA), and passive sensing data using sensors embedded in mobile devices. To summarize the trends, opportunities, and existing challenges in this field, this study reviewed 15 papers to answer four research questions. EMA was the most popular data to be used in this task, but other approaches, such as using video, audio, and typing behaviors, may be considered due to the subjectivity of EMA. These data were typically recorded using smartphones and analyzed using Machine Learning (ML). However, most of the developed systems had yet to be implemented. Overall, it was concluded that further studies may need to explore usages of more objective data in multimodal approaches as well as consider using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) to deploy these systems to provide more effective and efficient diagnoses. Future studies must also take into account the existing challenges of the data and infrastructures, such as the weaknesses of several data types, limitations of mobile devices, as well as the challenges of diagnosis approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

Breast cancer is an occurrence of cancer that attacks breast tissue and is the most common cancer among women worldwide, affecting one in eight women. In this modern world, breast cancer image classification simplifies the process of analyzing, providing objective and accurate results. By leveraging machine learning algorithms and computer vision techniques, we developed breast cancer detection. The dataset is histopathology dataset from BreakHis and UNHAS Hospital. We chose the ConvNeXt-Tiny model then modified the classifier head as the proposed method. Before the dataset is processed by the model, we augment the images by applying random horizontal and vertical flips, adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue using color jitter. The augmentation process simulates real-world variance and enhances the model's ability to generalize to unseen data. Our proposed model gained better performance (accuracy, F1-Score) results compared two other techniques to VGG16 and SVM. According to our experiments, the F1-Score for the ConvNeXt-Tiny model with classifier head modification is higher at 0.9516, than the gain for VGG16 at 0.9292, and the gain for the SVM at 0.83.

An accurate predictive model of temperature and humidity plays a vital role in many industrial processes that utilize a closed space such as in agriculture and building management. With the exceptional performance of deep learning on time-series data, developing a predictive temperature and humidity model with deep learning is propitious. In this study, we demonstrated that deep learning models with multivariate time-series data produce remarkable performance for temperature and relative humidity prediction in a closed space. In detail, all deep learning models that we developed in this study achieve almost perfect performance with an R value over 0.99.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a type of diabetes mellitus that attacks the retina of the eye. DR will cause patients to experience blindness slowly. Generally, DR can be detected by using a special instrument called an ophthalmoscope to view the inside of the eyeball. However, in conditions where there is a very small difference between the normal image and the DR image, computer-based assistance is needed for maximizing image reading value. In this research, a method of image quality improvement will be carried out which will then be integrated with a classification algorithm based on deep learning. The results of image improvement using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) shows that the average accuracy of the method on several models is very competitive, 91% for the VGG16 model, 95% for InceptionV3, and 97% for EfficientNet compared to the results original image which only has an accuracy of 87% for VGG16 model, 90% for InceptionV3 model, and 95% for EfficientNet. However, in ResNet34 better accuracy is obtained in the original image with an accuracy of 95% while in the CLAHE image the accuracy value is only 84%. The results of this comprehensive evaluation and recommendation of famous backbone networks can be useful in the computer-Aided diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. This research aims to create a virtual reality-based practice system that simulates real-stage performance environments, assisting amateur dancers in overcoming stage fright and practicing group choreography that is difficult to achieve during individual practice. In this study, users can engage in performance simulations within the created system using the HTC VIVE virtual reality device. Within the system, we have developed a virtual stage space system that only requires a 2m x 3.5m physical area to simulate a large virtual stage experience. Users can also simulate choreographic positioning with virtual dance partners within this system, providing amateur dancers with group dance rehearsal practice opportunities that are not feasible during solo practice. Additionally, by creating three different audience modes, we aim to help users simulate various audience scenarios they may encounter during a performance. The system includes a recording feature that captures users' simulated performances, allowing them to review their actions and receive feedback after practice.

The spread of Corona Virus Disease 19 (COVID-19) in Indonesia is still relatively high and has not shown a significant decrease. One of the main reasons is due to the lack of supervision on the implementation of health protocols such as wearing masks in daily activities. Recently, state-of-The-Art algorithms were introduced to automate face mask detection. To be more specific, the researchers developed various kinds of architectures for the detection of masks based on computer vision methods. This paper aims to evaluate well-known architectures, namely the ResNet50, VGG11, InceptionV3, EfficientNetB4, and YOLO (You Only Look Once) to recommend the best approach in this specific field. By using the MaskedFace-Net dataset, the experimental results showed that the EfficientNetB4 architecture has better accuracy at 95.77% compared to the YOLOv4 architecture of 93.40%, InceptionV3 of 87.30%, YOLOv3 of 86.35%, ResNet50 of 84.41%, VGG11 of 84.38%, and YOLOv2 of 78.75%, respectively. It should be noted that particularly for YOLO, the model was trained using a collection of MaskedFace-Net images that had been pre-processed and labelled for the task. The model was initially able to train faster with pre-Trained weights from the COCO dataset thanks to transfer learning, resulting in a robust set of features expected for face mask detection and classification. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. Many economically essential crops in Indonesia (such as coffee, tea, chocolate, or copra) require storage or drying under certain environmental conditions, especially temperature and humidity. The solar dryer dome, typically used for agricultural purposes in Indonesia, produces a sufficient amount of heat to increase the evaporation rate inside the dome and reduce the moisture content of the commodity. A hybrid solar dryer accompanied by a photovoltaic panel, fan, and ventilation system is generally suitable. The system can provide an optimum environment with minimum control. However, as the outdoor temperature and humidity change dramatically, such as at night time, more control is required. Based on Industry 4.0 technologies, we have developed a new kind of hybrid solar dryer that provides an optimum environment 24/7. The system, called Smart Dome 4.0, is an intelligent, low-cost, self-sufficient drying and storage system to support Indonesia Agriculture 4.0. The system has a local power generation unit to self-sustain the required energy and operate without connecting to the electricity grid. The system utilizes a machine-learning algorithm to predict the environmental condition and optimally uses self-generated electric power. The developed Smart Dome 4.0 technology is critical to producing a sustainable solar dome under drastic environmental dynamics. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Prognostics and health management (PHM) is an engineering discipline that aims to maintain system behaviour and function and ensure mission success, safety and effectiveness. Addressing the challenges in prognostics and health management for modern intelligent systems, especially automated driving systems, is complex due to the contextual nature of faults. This complexity necessitates a thorough understanding of spatial, and temporal conditions, and relationships within operational scenarios and life-cycle stages. This paper introduces a framework designed to automatically recognize driving scenarios in automated driving systems using graph neural networks (GNNs). The framework extracts relational data from image frames, constructing graph-based models and transforming unstructured sensory data into structured data with diverse node types and relationships. A specific graph neural network processes the graph model to reveal and detect operational conditions and relationships. The proposed framework is evaluated using the KITTI dataset, demonstrating superior performance compared to conventional feed-forward networks such as MLP, particularly in handling relational data.
