Block matching is the most efficient technique for motion estimation (ME) in video compression and there are many algorithms to implement block matching. This paper discusses the block matching algorithms based on differential evolution (DE) and artificial bee colony (ABC) and proposes a new algorithm hybridizing these two algorithms aiming to get better results in block matching than the individual algorithms. In the proposed algorithm, food source generation operation of ABC is replaced by mutation and crossover operations of DE with the objective to utilize the search space exploration ability of DE and the solution exploitation ability of ABC. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Verbal-guided image parsing is the window to the coming generation of luxurious ease, when all the remote controls that we need for the array of electronics we own come together at one place, with no need of going through manuals. Basic commands can be given to the program verbally by the user and the same is fulfilled. The absconding behaviour of a patient or leaving the hospital against medical advice is a matter of concern as in the both situations it might create risk for the patients, the people around them and for the hospital. This study predicts various factors responsible for absconding and LAMA cases with purpose to reduce the chances of their occurrence. Various classification techniques were used for the prediction and the comparison of classifier is done on the basis of their performance. Age, gender, sponsored category, ward and doctor were observed as significant factors associated with such cases. This study will help the hospital in early detection of such patients and reduce the occurrence of these events. Thus, it will help the hospital in improving the health and saving the life of patients of such cases. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

We are currently in the Information Age where massive amounts of data is being collected and analyzed to find interesting and frequent patterns. The need for mining data has been steadily increasing over the past few years. Graphs are one of the best studied data structures in the fields of mathematics and computer science. And due to this, in the recent years graph-based data mining has become quite popular. Graph data mining uses the graph nodes and the links between them to represent the entities, their relationships with other entities and their attributes and discovers interesting patterns in the graphs. Transportation networks are networks of routes from one location to another through various modes of travel. The factors that are affecting the world are terrorism, economy, political changes, pollution, etc. Out of which terrorism is one the biggest factor which is affecting the economy, society along with loss of precious human lives. In this paper, the data mining techniques are implemented to infer certain trends and pattern of terrorist attacks in India. K-means clustering is used to determine the year in which the terrorist groups were most active and also which terrorist group has affected the most. In video compression, the most efficient technique for motion estimation is Block Matching and there are many algorithms to implement it. In this paper, two such algorithms are discussed, which are based on Differential Evolution (DE) and Harmony Search (HS), and a new algorithm is proposed by hybridizing these two algorithms to get better results. In the proposed algorithm, pitch adjustment operation of HS is replaced by mutation and crossover operations of DE. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Several polices for differently abled is implemented by Indian Government. With an objective of making India disabled free by bridging the gap between the Government and disabled people this paper conducted a survey. The survey was conducted to provide a digital support system for differently abled. Based on the results of the survey, smart cards for PWDs will be developed. Every time, the authorized disabled person needs to go through the verification phase can make use of their smart cards. The survey basically focuses on the types of major disabilities in common people, policies already existing for them in the system and the area where they face problems in day to day life. The aim is to create a hassle-free atmosphere to ease their daily activities. © 2018 IEEE.

Assessments of pesticide impacts globally and holistic policies to address them require accurate pesticide use data, but good use data are difficult to find. For comparable estimates across countries, researchers and policymakers depend upon pesticide use data collected by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). We analyze the FAO database and find declines in data reporting and data quality since 2007. We present a novel method that uses bilateral paired mirror trade statistics and an index of reporter reliability to add, update and/or replace data for 137 countries. The resulting Global Pesticide Use and Trade (GloPUT) database shows pesticide use in low and lower-middle income countries has been substantially underestimated. Over the last decade, global pesticide use grew 20% by volume;use in low-income countries grew by 153% over the same period. GloPUT estimates more accurately reflect social science findings on recent agrichemical supply chain restructuring and agrarian development, which indicate substantial increases in pesticide use. Significant issues with data reporting and quality mean that the impacts of recent changes in pesticide production, availability and adoption were not reflected in the FAO database, and, as a result, neither are they reflected in high profile environmental assessments. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd
