Development of Android-based application: Innovation for the calculus for physics course

In providing an optimum learning process, students should be given more space to develop their understanding by integrating their knowledge into daily problems. Students should not only learn through lectures in class but also resources available anywhere and anytime. In previous lectures, physics students were still unable to interpret physics problems into mathematical representations (Calculus subject) causing the obtained scores of midterm and final exam not optimum. Thus, through this work, students are expected to understand Calculus principles and able to use the principles towards physics problems. One method to improve the learning process is by using learning media applications. The research design of the “Physics 101 - Calculus 1” application is Research and Development (R&D). The development stages including the defining stage (student analysis, needs analysis, concept analysis), the design stage (product design), and the development stage (product validation, revision, testing, product revisions (if any), and final products. The results of the product quality research are expressed by the Likert scale. This application was created using the Android Studio software that can be installed and used optimally on mobile devices with the Android operating system at the minimum version of 5.0 and the minimum RAM of 1 GB. The size of the application is relatively small around 2.126 MB. “Physics 101 - Calculus 1” has been validated by media experts. The average percentage score was 92.11% which shows that the media is valid. Besides, the application had also been tested on 25 students and its average percentage score was 91.56% which shows that the product is feasible. Thus, the Physics 101 - Calculus 1 application is concluded to be valid and suitable for use by academics.

Rehabilitation therapy is a fundamental need for patients that suffer from illness, effects after accident or surgery. The patients need to perform traditional rehabilitation for undergo clinical therapy sessions handled by a therapist in monitoring the patient's improvement. Once the patients discharge, they need to perform consistently exercise remotely at home or outside from rehabilitation centre, Telerehabilitation was introduced. One of the exercises to encourage patients is using exercise games (exergames). In this paper, we are concentrating on usability evaluation of exergames named Medical Interactive Rehabilitation Assistance (MIRA) System with Twenty-eight exercises performed by patients. We performed data collection using qualitative and quantitative for 45 patients from SOSCO Rehabilitation Centre in Malacca. The questionnaire consists of three sections - demographic, usage of the MIRA system and lastly participant's opinion. In conclusion, the findings showed positive feedback in using exergames as part of their rehab exercise that can lead into implementation of Telerehabilitation.

Deformation identification using DInSAR multi temporal analysis method in supporting infrastructure development (case study of the area around the nation's new capital)

The relocation of nation's capital is one of the government's flagship programs at this time. The lack of information on soil structures that are prone to deformation can bring an impact on the failure of infrastructure development in the areas of New State Capital (known as Ibu Kota Negara/IKN). Therefore, a significant study is important to find out the deformations that may occur in the region as an initial information in determining the location for safer infrastructure development based on the soil structure conditions in the research area. This research used the Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) method with a multi-temporal approach to identify the deformations in the research area. The data included SAR images of Sentinel 1A type SLC with C band (5.405 GHz) for the period 2015-2019. The results confirmed that deformation had been identified in several areas, both those experiencing subsidence and uplifting. The maximum subsidence was 12.97 cm at Sepaku district on period 2018-2019 and the maximum uplift was 10.01 cm on period 2017-2018. The identified areas with deformation generally take place in areas with a high density of buildings, construction areas, road infrastructure, and river alluvial deposits.

We show that Earth’s natural environment can serve as a powerful probe for ultralight axion dark matter. In the presence of global geomagnetic fields, the axions with masses ranging from 10−15 eV–10−13 eV induce electromagnetic waves in the (sub-) extremely low-frequency band (0.3 − 30 Hz) through the axion-photon coupling. We predict the amplitude of induced magnetic fields in the Earth-ionosphere cavity, taking the finite conductivity of the atmosphere into account. This allows us to constrain the axion-photon coupling parameter, gaγ, from the long-term monitoring data of the low-frequency magnetic fields, resulting in a significant improvement from the previous constraints down to gaγ 4 × 10−13 GeV−1 for axion mass ∼ 3 × 10−14 eV. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

Objective: Mobile nutrition applications (apps) provide a simple way for individuals to record their diet, but the validity and inherent errors need to be carefully evaluated. The aim of this study was to assess the validity and clarify the sources of measurement errors of image-assisted mobile nutrition apps. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study with 98 students recruited from School of Nutrition and Health Sciences, Taipei Medical University. A 3-d nutrient intake record by Formosa Food and Nutrient Recording App (FoodApp) was compared with a 24-h dietary recall (24-HDR). A two-stage data modification process, manual data cleaning, and reanalyzing of prepackaged foods were employed to address inherent errors. Nutrient intake levels obtained by the two methods were compared with the recommended daily intake (DRI), Taiwan. Paired t test, Spearman's correlation coefficients, and Bland–Altman plots were used to assess agreement between the FoodApp and 24-HDR. Results: Manual data cleaning identified 166 food coding errors (12%;stage 1), and 426 food codes with missing micronutrients (32%) were reanalyzed (stage 2). Positive linear trends were observed for total energy and micronutrient intake (all P_trend < 0.05) after the two stages of data modification, but not for dietary fat, carbohydrates, or vitamin D. There were no statistical differences in mean energy and macronutrient intake between the FoodApp and 24-HDR, and this agreement was confirmed by Bland–Altman plots. Spearman's correlation analyses showed strong to moderate correlations (r = 0.834 ∼ 0.386) between the two methods. Participants’ nutrient intake tended to be lower than the DRI, but no differences in proportions of adequacy/inadequacy for DRI values were observed between the two methods. Conclusions: Mitigating errors significantly improved the accuracy of the Formosa FoodApp, indicating its validity and reliability as a self-reporting mobile-based dietary assessment tool. Digitalization in industrial revolution 4.0 era has many impacts towards all aspects of life. Massive technology advancement shifts industrial demands in Indonesia from quantitative to qualitative demands. These qualitative demands can be interpreted that today’s industry workforce not only need technique competencies but also must have good Computational Thinking (CT) which is the pillar of collaboration, communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills. This issue did not balance with the enhancement of cognitive skills of Indonesians, especially youth or millennial generation. Millennial generation required to overcome multilevel challenges to improve thinking skills particularly on individual level. The low level of intrinsic motivation in using computational thinking to solve its problem became one of millennial culture characteristics. One of the solutions is cultivate student’s intrinsic motivation to use CT by utilize Ikigai concept on teaching and learning activities from early grade. The Ikigai role as motivation template has been endure for millennia and proven, if used properly, to be most important factor that help eastern culture people achieve self-actualization. This study aims to develop instructional design that include Ikigai concept to support the achievement of intellectual competencies. Product development is done by Research and Development (R&D) Method with Akker procedure scheme. Product expected to improve students CT in accordance to standard needed in industrial 4.0 era. At this point, we currently at Empirical Testing phase. As expected, we got good response from teacher for product’s ease of use and provide clear assessment of students CT Skills. Student that can be described as skilled programmer often have poor communication or collaboration skills with societies. This study aims to find out the technological content knowledge profile of Mathematics Education Students of Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi who have completed courses in Mathematics Capita Selecta III. The research method used is descriptive with quantitative approach. Data is collected by survey method, using a questionnaire instrument whose statement is based on the component of technological content knowledge. The results showed that students' technological content knowledge was in a good category with an means 3.52 which means that students of Mathematics Education understood how to integrate technology and material in learning school mathematics.

The Black Hole Explorer (BHEX) is a next-generation space very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) mission concept that will extend the ground-based millimeter/submillimeter arrays into space. The mission, closely aligned with the science priorities of the Japanese VLBI community, involves an active engagement of this community in the development of the mission, resulting in the formation of the Black Hole Explorer Japan Consortium. Here we present the current Japanese vision for the mission, ranging from scientific objectives to instrumentation. The Consortium anticipates a wide range of scientific investigations, from diverse black hole physics and astrophysics studied through the primary VLBI mode, to the molecular universe explored via a potential single-dish observation mode in the previously unexplored 50-70 GHz band that would make BHEX the highest-sensitivity explorer ever of molecular oxygen. A potential major contribution for the onboard instrument involves supplying essential elements for its high-sensitivity dual-band receiving system, which includes a broadband 300 GHz SIS mixer and a space-certified multi-stage 4.5K cryocooler akin to those used in the Hitomi and XRISM satellites by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. Additionally, the Consortium explores enhancing and supporting BHEX operations through the use of millimeter/submillimeter facilities developed by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, coupled with a network of laser communication stations operated by the National Institute of information and Communication technology. Facing the 4.0 industrial revolution, it is necessary to carry out reforms and innovations related to national education. Reforms and innovations in the implementation of components of the education system involve changes in curriculum, graduate competencies and assessments, teacher qualifications, funding, facilities and infrastructure, decentralization and educational autonomy. Bali as a world tourist destination must be maintained and passed on to the younger generation. The younger generation can use information technology to help promote Balinese culture. Bali has a lot of local wisdom that can be implemented in the tourism sector. Therefore to promote those local wisdoms, a module that can be accessed through e-learning is developed to help students develop a cultural tourism package based on local wisdom to be promoted online. The modules developed have been tested by content and media experts, which can be used independently by students. Modules can be accessed online at e-learning and they are ready to use instructions for students so they can work on assignments and projects independently. Modules containing this theory and practice are for making brochures, tour packages, videos, and websites, all of which are connected to promote tourism based on local Balinese wisdom.

The research on signal processing of syllables sound signal is still the challenging tasks, due to non-stationary, speaker-dependent, variable context, and dynamic nature factor of the signal. In the process of classification using multi-layer perceptron (MLP), the process of selecting a suitable parameter of hidden neuron and hidden layer is crucial for the optimal result of classification. This paper presents a speech signal classification method by using MLP with various numbers of hidden-layer and hidden-neuron for classifying the Indonesian Consonant-Vowel (CV) syllables signal. Five feature sets were generated by using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Renyi Entropy, Autoregressive Power Spectral Density (AR-PSD) and Statistical methods. Each syllable was segmented at a certain length to form a CV unit. The results show that the average recognition of WRPSDS with 1, 2, and 3 hidden layers were 74.17%, 69.17%, and 63.03%, respectively. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2018.
