Application of Online Science Practicum by Using Microsoft Teams and Learning Management System (LMS) During the Covid 19 Pandemic

The research objective of this is to see how to apply science practicum online using Microsoft Teams and Learning Management System (LMS). The form of this research is classroom action research which aims to apply the online science practicum during the Covid 19 pandemic. Therefore, it is carried out using two cycles in the application of online science practicum. The subjects of this study were students of the seventh semester in the Natural Science practicum course. Through observation and evaluation, it is shown that in the cycle I the percentage of practicum implementation which includes aspects of preparation, process and data and practicum results is 87.5%, in cycle II it has increased to 92.5%. In the assessment aspect of the practicum report, the average practicum assessment obtained in the first cycle was 3.09 from the highest score of 4 and in the second cycle was 3.7, while the aspect of student knowledge about the use of the Microsoft team which was taken using google form was 93%. In the aspect of student knowledge about the use of Learning Management System (LMS) by 75% and aspects of student understanding in the implementation of online science practicum using Microsoft Teams by 75%.

Accreditation is a form of quality and feasibility evaluation of higher education institutions or study programs conducted by independent organizations or bodies outside of tertiary institutions. To achieve the target of accreditation scores, universities and study programs must adjust their internal conditions in accordance with the standards given by the National Accreditation Board for Higher education (BAN-PT). In accordance with Permenristekdikti No 32/2016, BAN-PT develops accreditation instruments that are relevant to the development of the higher education sector in Indonesia and follows the global developments. study program Accreditation Instrument (IAPS 4.0) BAN-PT uses 9 criteria. The Accreditation Instrument of Monitoring Database of the study program UKI Paulus was built using a PHP interface and MySql database that can integrate the entire contents of the data and other supporting documents so that during the evaluation processes, the information of achievement determined by BAN-PT from each standard is obtained. The system development steps, uses the Waterfall method which starts from the analysis phase, system design, program code writing, system testing and system maintenance. From 30 respondents who joined the test using black box method, the user accessibility level reached 95.52%. It shows that the system run optimally. This system is able to provide easy access and management of study program accreditation documents.

The effect of artificial age time on crystal size, dislocation density, hardness and micro structure on Al 6061 materials alloy

Research on the effect of T6 heat treatment and artificial life time on crystal size, density dislocation, hardness, and microstructure of Al 6061 alloy material made from powder metallurgy. The T6 heat treatment starts with a solid solution which is heated at 530 ° C, held for 60 minutes, then quenching into the water media, and the artificial aging process at 200 ° C and variations in the holding time of 1h, 24h, and 30h. Crystal size, dislocation density and lattice microstructure testing using X-ray diffractometer, hardness testing with Vickers scale and surface microstructure with SEM-EDX. Test results of crystal size, dislocation density, and micro lattice strain on 4 phase α-Al at the miller index plane (111), (200), (220), and (311) show that the crystal size increases with the duration of heating time of artificial aging. While dislocation density and micro lattice strain increase over a heating period of 1h to 30h, dislocation density and lattice strain decrease at the Miller index plane (111) to (311). The hardness testing of Al 6061 as-cast material was 54 HV after quenching the water hardness value of 75 HV, but after artificial aging the hardness decreased with a longer holding time from 45.50 HV to 39.95 HV. Microstructure observations with SEM-EDX, showed that the Al 6061 test sample without heat treatment showed a dominant α-Al matrix, whereas in the Al 6061 sample after the T6 process it was seen that the Mg2Si phase functioned to harden the Al 6061 alloy.

For many years, mathematics has been used to solve the problem in economic and finance instead of natural science and engineering. This paper shows how accurate mathematics reads financial behavior. One of the financial areas using the mathematics approach is the bond valuation technique. Bond is one of the long term debt instruments. The finding in this research is that mathematics can be used to read the changes in the concept of a pricing model where the par value of bonds is always going to 100% at the maturity date. Theoretically, the bonds fair price is resulted by calculating the present value of future coupon interest of bonds, but not in practice, caused by the bonds investor behavior. The difference in price, resulted from both different approaches, in this paper is defined by a new mathematical concept to reflect the bonds' investor behavior. It is the aim of this research. To address the differences, we have evaluated the fair price of bonds calculation by creating new mathematics equations by combining the calculation of the present value of future coupon interest of bonds with the market concept models. The result is a new mathematical model called J-Value. To prove the eligibility of J-Value, a simulation was done. The mathematics model in this paper is found by combining the usage of a qualitative method and supported by a quantitative method.

Polarization entanglement holds significant importance for photonic quantum technologies. Recently emerging subwavelength nonlinear quantum light sources, e.g., GaP and LiNbO3 thin films, benefiting from the relaxed phase-matching constraints and volume confinement, has shown intriguing properties, such as high-dimensional hyperentanglement and robust entanglement anti-degradation. Van der Waals (vdW) NbOCl2 crystal, renowned for its superior optical nonlinearities, has emerged as one of ideal candidates for ultrathin quantum light sources [Nature 613, 53 (2023)]. However, polarization-entanglement is inaccessible in NbOCl2 crystal due to its unfavorable nonlinear susceptibility tensor. Here, by leveraging the twist-stacking degree of freedom inherently in vdW systems, we showcase the preparation of tunable polarization entanglement and quantum Bell states. Our work not only provides a new and tunable polarization-entangled vdW photon-pair source, but also introduces a new knob in engineering the entanglement state of quantum light at the nanoscale. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

The Use of Geogebra Software in Learning Geometry Transformation to Improve Students' Mathematical Understanding Ability

This article reports the findings of one pretest-posttest design experiment with the control group and with GeoGebra software learning application to examine the mathematical understanding abilities and responses of students taking Geometry Transformation course. The subjects of this study were 24 students of mathematics education study program in Universitas Langlangbuana. The research instrument consisted of a mathematical comprehension ability test and a student response questionnaire. Based on data analysis using SPSS 2.0.0 and Microsoft Excel 2013, the study found that achievement and improvement in mathematical understanding skills and responses of students who received learning with GeoGebra software were better than achievement and improvement in student's ability who obtain conventional approach for the high, middle and low categories. The study also found a moderate relationship between mathematical understanding ability and student response.

Based on the results of the questionnaire distributed to Primary Teacher education Students, 96% of students said that Physics is difficult to understand because the material is very complex, many formulas, especially the learning process is done online. This study aims to describe the influence of providing feedback on the motivation of Primary Teacher education Students in primary school physics courses. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Meanwhile, the instrument used was a questionnaire which was distributed to 115 elementary school education students. The result of the research shows that giving feedback consistently is able to motivate students. This can be seen from the results of the questionnaires distributed, each indicator is of very good value.

Automating CAD for creating assembly structure from Bill of Materials

This paper presents the development of an add-on for CAD system generating assembly structure automatically based on a given Bill of Materials (BOM). The BOM in Excel format is scanned by the system and the system arrange 3D CAD files into assembly at in CATIA V5 CAD system automatically. This program has been tested and succeeded well at compiling 3D assembly based on 3D part file data that is available or not available. If the 3D file is not available then the 3D assembly is still generated according to the assembly structure listed on Excel file but its 3D representation does not appear.

Bromelain is a glycoprotein that contains a single carbohydrate moiety group and displays proteolytic activity. Bromelain has long been known to act as an immunomodulator; however, the immunomodulatory activity of its carbohydrate moiety has been very rarely studied and is not well understood. This study aimed to predict the immunomodulatory activity of the carbohydrate moiety of bromelain (CMB) by evaluating it using the PASS server, and the binding affinities between CMB and various pro-inflammatory cytokines were analyzed using a molecular docking approach. This research was conducted by docking the CMB ligand to the following receptor proteins: interleukin-6 (IL-6), IκBβ/nuclear factor (NF)-κB p65 homodimer complex (IκBα/NF-κB p65), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and IL-1β. The biological potential of CMB was predicted using the online PASS server. The results of the computational analysis indicated that the highest binding energy was identified between CMB and IκBβ/NF-κB p65 (−10.3 kcal/mol), followed by TNF-α (−9.7 kcal/mol), and IL-6 and IL-1β, with values of −8.2 kcal/mol for both. The CMB activity predicted by the Way2Drug PASS server indicated that this molecule is likely to display significant immunostimulant activity. These findings suggested that CMB can be considered a potential lead molecule for further drug development to identify agent that can prevent or cure inflammation and restore balance to the immune system. However, the predictions determined in this study remain to be validated in future in vitro and in vivo studies.

Used cooking oil catalytic cracking using Cr-charcoal ion-exchanged catalyst

Used cooking oil is the largest waste that can be converted into biofuel as a renewable alternative energy source with catalytic cracking process. In this study, used cooking oil was cracked using a Cr-Carbon catalyst. The charcoal was produced from solid waste (shell) of oil palm industry. Three different chromium concentrations (1, 2, and 3%) were used for the ion-exchange process of Cr-charcoal to produce the catalyst. These catalysts were used for the catalytic cracking of used cooking oil at three levels of temperature (450, 500, and 550°C). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis were used for catalyst characterization. SEM-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis indicates that Cr was successfully adsorbed into the catalyst. The highest oil fraction was obtained from catalytic cracking of used cooking oil at 450°C using Cr-charcoal catalyst synthesized using 1% Cr solution.
