This research delves into the comparative assessment of diverse deep learning architectures for the automated identification of pulmonary diseases in chest X-ray images, aligning with the diagnostic framework of the International Classification of Deseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10). The evaluated architectures encompass Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), MobileNetV2, DenseNet, VGG16, and InceptionV3. Through an extensive investigation conducted on a comprehensive dataset comprising 108,948 chest X-ray images, we scrutinize the performance metrics and diagnostic accuracy of each architecture. Notably, our findings reveal MobileNetV2 as the frontrunner, exhibiting an outstanding accuracy rate of 97% for Emphysema disease. This remarkable accuracy underscores the robustness and efficiency of MobileNetV2, even amidst large-scale diasets, positioning it as a promising solution for the automated detection of pulmonary ailments from medical imaging. Additionally, we analyze the computational efficiency and resource requirements of each architecture, providing insights into their practical applicability in real-world clinical settings. The implications of our study extend beyond technical benchmarks, offering valuable insights for healthcare practitioners, researchers, and developers working towards enhancing diagnostic processes in pulmonary healthcare. By elucidating the comparative strengths and limitations of various deep learning architectures, this research contributes to the advancement of computer-aided diagnosis systems, paving the way for more accurate and efficient detection of lung diseases from chest X-ray imaging data. © 2025 The Authors.

Variable Length Multi-Objective Whale Optimization for Trust Aware Data Gathering in Wireless Sensor Network

Efficient data collection in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is crucial. While traditional approaches rely on stationary data sinks, the use of mobile sinks, like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has shown promise in enhancing data-gathering capabilities. However, existing methods often overlook the importance of trust, leaving the network susceptible to malicious or faulty nodes. To address this issue, we propose a novel trust-aware data-gathering algorithm, Variable Length Multi-Objective Whale Optimization Data Gathering (VLMOWO-DG). Our algorithm simultaneously optimizes energy consumption, delay, and trust while employing mobile sinks to collect data from sensor nodes. By considering trust as a key performance metric, we improve data reliability and security. The VLMOWO-DG algorithm introduces flexibility through variable-length solution representation and application-oriented operators, allowing for efficient exploration of the solution space. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm significantly outperforms established benchmarks, NSGA-II and NSGA-III, in terms of domination and hypervolume. This leads to a remarkable improvement of 200% in data gathering performance. © 2015 The Authors.

Offsets Reconstruction Method for Clock Skew Measurement Over High-Jitter Communication

Measuring clock skew of devices over a network fully relies on the offsets, the differences between sending and receiving times. Offsets that shape a thick line are the most ideal one as their slope is directly the clock skew sought. When some outliers separate from the thick line due to higher delay jitter, current advanced approaches use the lower bound or the majority of offsets to derive accurate clock skew. However, outliers in offsets that shape parallel dotted lines, reduce the availability of offsets in the lower region, and scatter widely the offsets from their majority zone. These conditions drive the current skew estimation approaches to lose their accuracy. This paper then developed a new method, which reconstructs back the outliers into their origin positions, in order to provide ideal offsets for clock skew measurement. The experimental evaluations have demonstrated that the clock skew accuracy of dotted-lines offsets tampered by outliers was improved from 2.1 to 0.9 ppm by the proposed reconstruction method. For a broader purpose, the reconstruction method has been adjusted to be implemented also on non-dotted-lines offsets. The robustness of the proposed method for this case has also been exhibited by the very ideal reconstructed offsets that shape like a thick line. © The Author(s) 2025.

The objectives of this research endeavour encompass three main aspects: 1) the creation of a novel measurement tool, referred to as the innovative thinking scale (ITS), which aims to evaluate variations in innovative thinking among individuals;2) the evaluation of the effectiveness and reliability of the innovative thinking scale;3) the investigation of the associations between different indicators of the innovative thinking scale. Using a quantitative research design, a two-stage study is undertaken to ascertain the validity and reliability of the ITS instrument. Content validity and construct validity are established through an intensive procedure involving a panel of experts in the field of telecommunication engineering and the application of Pearson correlation analysis. The sample for this study consisted of 43 students pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, with a specific focus on telecommunication engineering. Suspension is a very important part of the functionality of a car. It supports the comfort of the passengers and can be used to improve the car's stability. If a magnetorheological (MR) damper is used, the damping performance can be adjusted according to the road condition. In this research, an attempt to model an MR damper using multiple artificial neural networks (ANNs) was conducted. The measurement data was obtained by using a damper dynamometer. Eight measurements were conducted to cover the coil current range between 0 and 1,400 mA. The MR damper model was then integrated into the semi-active suspension of a quarter-car model. Furthermore, the fuzzy logic controller (FLC) design for the semi-active suspension system was conducted. This artificial intelligence control deployed a novel approach in using the frequency content of the road surface as the input. The control scheme was tested by giving a sinusoidal bumpy road and a pseudo-random bumpy road as the input to the quarter-car model. The FLC performed well and was able to reduce the transmitted excitation from the road to the car chassis. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

In this research, an approach for increasing accuracy in speech to text application is done using Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) trained by Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN). A set of Bahasa Indonesia homophones data speech is used for training and validation. The record is taken from 6 native adults comprising 3 males and 3 females. Working in 16 KHz sampling mode, the data is stored in WAV format. A confusion matrix is used to validate the system with and without homophone locking learning. A significant improvement is observed from the experiment. The percentage of accuracy is increased from 53.33 to 93.4 from male samples. From females' records, the increment is even higher. The accuracy percentage has risen from 36.8 to 93.33.

Solar energy is a renewable energy that is currently being widely used. In general, independent solar power plant systems that are installed in residential homes use an off-grid system to simplify the installation process. However, the off-grid system has a weakness that the load on the independent solar power plant system would be limited and it is difficult to transfer the source of electrical energy when the storage battery capacity on the solar panel has run out. Transferring the source of electrical energy can be conducted but the load will be in a momentary blackout during the load transfer process. This would have a negative impact on sensitive loads such as compressors and refrigerators. To avoid the problem, a system for transferring electrical energy sources is required using the phase synchronization method at the source that will change by using the ESP32 as a control center which has supporting functions such as reading parameters, calculating the amount of electrical power used, recording data (data logging), and storing data on electronic media such as MicroSD Card. The result of this study was a Smart ATS system design that could transfer loads with a power rating of 450W using a source synchronization method that was able to display parameter data and record data regularly every 10 minutes. After testing the system, a saving value in the use of electrical energy was obtained by 0.1 kWh of the total use of 0.5kWh in which that the system created could save 20% of the use of electrical energy © 2023 IEEE.

Knowing what customer's interest when they visit a store may help them increasing its efficiency and turnover. Using current technology advancements, this project intends to create a system that recognizes the presence of consumers visiting a store by constructing designated bounding boxes to compute how long the client stays in each retail area. Our system was developed utilizing the COCO dataset using SSD MobileNet V2 system based on Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi is linked to a camera, which records customer activity in each indicated location and calculates the customer's time spent. A low-cost specification allows the system to be easily implemented in the real environment. From the simulations with two bounding boxes, in region 1 there are 7 people with an average time spent of 12 seconds and in region 2 there are 13 people with an average time spent reaching 20 seconds with an accuracy of 87.5 percent and 70 percent, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

WiMAX IEEE 802.16e is one of promising advancing technologies in wireless broadband, and the development & deployment of this standard or system has been maintained and performed continually. During its development phase period, we proposed and developed a sole module for software-based uplink subframe mapping method, after a certain existing method called as multi-modules method had been designed and used for certain period of time. The proposed sole module implemented and verified together with other modules to FPGA-based development board to construct proper functionalities of a Subscriber Station used for Time Division Duplexing WiMAX IEEE 802.16e. It has been proven that the sole module works properly as the existing method does during the testing and verification. Indeed, the sole module reduces complexity for designing the software module of uplink burst mapping. One another significant advantage of the sole module is its capability to process burst data faster than the usage of multi-module technique. The sole module is considered a proper development for the software-based uplink burst mapping.

This investigative research aims to convert urban non-organic waste fuels such as plastic waste into energy using fixed bed pyrolysis technology. Pyrolysis fixed bed (PFB) is one of the most efficient technologies for converting various types of undegradable solid waste into thermal energy and liquid fuels with high efficiency. The study was conducted on a lab-scale PFB reactor with dimensions of 15 cm and 55 cm in diameter and bed height respectively. The reactor is equipped with a cooling and decomposition system to accommodate liquid and gas products. Reactor temperature variations using an external heater were tested and quartz sands were selected as a bed material to improve the temperature function of the PFB reactor so as the maximum quality and quantity of liquid product were obtained. The fuel properties of the derived oil were tested including their physical properties, calorific value, elemental measurement (CHNOS) analysis. The results of the study showed that the increase in temperature resulted in an increased pyrolysis performance which was indicated by the increased volume and liquid caloric value. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
