This paper develops a real-time condition-monitoring algorithm for induction motor. The condition monitoring mechanism is based on the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and the fuzzy inference system (FIS). In this method, the stator currents are used as an input to the system. No direct access to the induction motor is required. The developed system has been rigorously assessed theoretically and experimentally, and it has been shown that the system is robust and reliable. © 2020 IEEE.

The implementation of FFT in OFDM system may provide many advantages, such as the bandwidth becomes more efficient and the signal performance over fading channel is better than single carrier signal. However, the PAPR of the signal is high and it can reach 10 dB, which is equivalent to a peak power that is 10 times higher than the average power. This way, the usage of FFT-based OFDM is not very efficient, especially in terms of power consumption at the transmitter. In this paper, a simulation was done to evaluate the BER performance of the signal with the implementation of several PAPR reduction techniques, such as the wavelet transform, Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) technique, and also the clipping technique. The implementation was done with the 16 QAM and 64 QAM, and also the signal was sent through Rayleigh fading channel. The result shows that for 16 QAM, the best result is achieved by using db1 with PTS technique. With Eb/No value of 20 dB, the BER can be 10-3, which is 7 dB better than the normal FFT-based OFDM system. As for 64 QAM, the best result is achieved by the usage of normal db3 without PTS nor clipping technique. With Eb/No value of 24 dB, the BER can be 10-3, which is 4.5 dB better than FFT-based OFDM system. © 2020 IEEE.

This work deals with optimization problems in the field of audio signals with particular emphasis on recognizing guitar chords. As an extension to the previous works done in this field, the primary goal was to minimize the feature extraction length without loss of recognition performance. In this case, this work used two such well known methods in audio signal processing as the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). This method is based on the iterative analysis of three main system attributes: the frame blocking length;the choice of wavelet functions;and the DWT coefficient selection offset. After careful tuning of these parameters, this work was able to optimize the feature extraction length to only three, which however represents a modest improvement on the previous works in this field. The system developed in this research obtained recognition accuracy of up to 91.43% when the optimized feature extraction length was employed. The significance of this study extends to the non-conventional applications of guitar chord recognition. Shortening the feature extraction length is expected to improve more usages in the different applications of the music technology. © 2024 IEEE.

Modulation technique, such as QAM and PSK may provide wireless communication with bandwidth efficiency. They each have their advantages, especially when it comes to BER performance over a wireless channel. They increase the performance of the bandwidth when used along with the OFDM. The FFT usually used in the OFDM system;however, it significantly increased the PAPR. DWT-based OFDM system can be implemented to solve this, and PTS technique can further improve it. This paper aims to do a simulation comparing QAM and PSK's BER performance. Both modulation technique will have the order of 4, 8, 16, 64, and ***, the bit order will be Gray-mapped. The signal is implemented in DWT-based OFDM system with PTS technique through AWGN channel. The result shows that the performance of 4-QAM is similar to QPSK. Then, 8-QAM is slightly better than 8-PSK, and as the order gets higher, the QAM shows a much better performance than PSK. The constellation diagram of QAM shows that the distance between each combination is constant for any order. PSK has a smaller distance;thus, it is very rational for QAM to perform better than PSK for the higher-order as 16-QAM, 64-QAM, and 256-QAM. © 2020 IEEE.

FFT, as the key concept in the OFDM system, produces a high PAPR value. Several techniques can be implemented to reduce it, such as the Palm Date Leaf clipping and the Partial Transmit Sequence. Previous researchers have evaluated each technique individually. This paper proposes to evaluate the PAPR value as the effect of combining the Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) with the Palm Date Leaf (PDL) clipping technique. The evaluation is done with several modulation techniques, such as QPSK, 8-PSK, 16-PSK, 8-QAM, and 16-QAM. Since low PAPR performance is not advantageous if the signal's BER value worsens, thus the evaluation also considers the BER performance. In this case, the Authors focus on the BER performance over the AWGN channel. The result shows that in all of the scenarios, the PTS technique could improve the signal's BER and PAPR performance for low CR values such as 5 dB and 7 dB. Additionally, for higher CR values such as 10 dB and 20 dB, the BER performance is similar to the normal OFDM signal. Even so, it provides a consistent PAPR reduction of approximately 3 dB. Do note that the PAPR is evaluated at CCDF of 10-3. This way, the PTS technique always provides an improvement in signal BER performance. As for the PAPR performance, the PTS technique can improve all cases except for 8-QAM and 16-QAM signals with clipping technique at low clipping ratio such as 5 dB. However, the PTS technique still requires Side Information (SI), and it has high computational complexity. © 2021 IEEE.

This study aims to: 1) describe the mechanism of the level 2 IQF (the Indonesian Qualifications Framework) descriptor development for electrical engineering, and 2) formulate a set of detailed-level-2 descriptors for electrical engineering. The method used to develop the descriptors is brainstorming between the researcher and several experts from both academicians and practitioners. Meanwhile, the method to formulate the IQF descriptors for electrical engineering is literature review referring to The Indonesian National Work Competency Standard (SKKNI) and focus group discussion involving experts from academicians, Professional Certification Institute Gema PDKB, the Association of Indonesian electrical Works (APEI), Consortium for electrical Installation Safety (KONSUIL), and industry practitioners such as PT. LEN Bandung, PT. Bukaka Teknik Utama, PT. Schneider Electric Indonesia, and PT. Smart Energi Semesta. The descriptors are in the form of the guttman scale questionnaire. The questionnaire was then tested on limited-scale respondents. The KR 20 method was employed to examine the reliability and resulted in r11 = 0.9;thus, the guttman scale questionnaire was considered "very reliable". The respondents consisted of 8 academicians, 8 electrical engineering teachers at vocational high schools, and 8 industrial practitioners. The collected data were then analyzed descriptively. This study resulted in a set of level 2 IQF descriptors which were designed according to the taxonomy of electricity system, namely electric power transmission system descriptors, electric power distribution system descriptors, and electric power utilization descriptors. In regard to electric power transmission system, 103 out of 154 (67%) descriptors were approved by more than 80% of respondents;for electric power distribution system, 83 descriptors (75%) were approved by more than 80% of respondents;and for electric power utilization system, 61 descriptors (94%) were approved by more than 8

This study aimed at investigating productive practicums of various competencies and the competences of Machining engineering department students of Muhammadiyah 1 Bantul Vocational High School. It is a descriptive study which employed both quantitative and qualitative research designs. The practicums of various competencies consisted of seven stages led by two teachers. Those stages are opening, presenting the introductory theory, demonstrating, conducting productive practicums of various competencies, evaluating, giving feedback, and closing. Based on the data analysis, the percentage of students' response is 70%, and it is categorized as good. The average score of the students' competences is 81.67, and it is also categorized as good. Finally, the percentage of students' activity aspect is 90%, and it is also categorized as very good. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Vibration analysis is very important in predictive maintenance in the industry today. In this paper, has designed a vibration detection system that can identify the condition of the induction motor by online. Induction motor vibration data is read from two vibration sensors, accelerometer1 and accelerometer2, displayed using ATMEGA16 microcontroller and can directly identify the condition of the induction motor by using artificial intelligence-based analysis that is Backpropagation-Neural Network (B-NN). After testing, the system managed to perform fault identification induction motor with the rank of success of 95 percent. © 2020 IEEE.

The importance of the K-Medoid model in viewing disaster-prone areas in each sub-district in North Aceh. The advantage of the k-medoid model results is that it has better cluster centers than other models. The novelty of this research is the cluster results are assessed by each decision maker using the Borda group model in providing flood disaster assistance or areas that are a priority for handling, which are included in the flood-prone cluster. Therefore, this research is important because it can be used to identify areas most severely affected by flooding. This research aims to analyze and identify the impact of flood hazards based on grouping and decision-making using the Borda group model in each sub-district in North Aceh. The results of the k-medoids model show 3 clusters that can see potential areas for flood disasters, namely very vulnerable. There are six sub-districts. For the k-medoids results, ten sub-districts are vulnerable. Lastly, the safe zones are 11 sub-districts. This research's k-medoid model analysis is more precise in seeing clusters of places that are potentially affected by flooding based on spatial maps of their nearest neighboring areas. The percentage of each cluster is as follows: Cluster 1 is 4%, Cluster 2 is 55%, and Cluster 3 is 41%. The k-medoid model provided this result after three iterations, with a closeness difference of 1.594510537. The results of the Borda model group research can be used as a recommendation for the areas that receive the highest priority in disaster management. © 2023 IEEE.

Learning media is one of the learning tools that is needed so that the learning process can run smoothly and students can have competencies in accordance with the expected competency goals. This paper discusses: (1) developing a Human Machine Interface (HMI) training kit as a learning medium in the Industrial Automation engineering Practical Course;(2) the performance of the HMI training kit;(3) the feasibility of the HMI training kit based on the assessment of media experts, material experts and student responses as training kit users. In developing this training kit using the ADDIE model which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Data collection was carried out by testing the performance of the media, and giving a questionnaire to media experts to assess the feasibility of the media aspect, a material expert questionnaire to assess the appropriateness of the material and a questionnaire to determine student responses as users. The data were analyzed by means of quantitative descriptive analysis which were then categorized. The result of this development is HMI practice learning media for industrial automation engineering practice courses which consist of HMI practice hardware, and jobsheets. The performance of the HMI training kit for input and output parameters, visualization of engine control in the form of buttons, sliders, output visualization, indicator lights, and overall graphics have a 100% correct performance. Based on media experts, design aspects, technical aspects and usefulness aspects were rated very well, so that overall the media aspect received an assessment in the very proper category Based on material experts, technical aspects and aspects of usefullness received an assessment in the very good category, so that overall the material aspect received an assessment in the very proper category.
