Identification of the impacts of coastline dynamics on the Indonesian maritime zones

The maritime zones of a state are influenced by the position of the baselines used. The position of the baseline will change along with coastline dynamics. Few causes of coastline dynamics are accretion and abrasion. The inventory method was used to gather findings in the shape of incongruencies on the Indonesian Nautical Chart. Comparative analyses were carried out using the Indonesian baseline map. The abrasion and accretion rate calculation using a Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) based on Otsu Thresholding was carried out on each incongruencies study area Siberut Island, Wunga Island, and South Kuta Regency. The case study results showed the coastal dynamics rate in Siberut Island of 7.41 metres/year, Wunga Island 12.08 metres/year, and South Kuta Regency 0.91 metres/year. This phenomenon caused changes in the maritime zone on Siberut Island to decrease by 15.78 km², Wunga Island to increase by 23.04 km², and South Kuta Regency to increase by 0.07 km². The implication of the baseline incongruencies can affect the changes of Indonesia's maritime zones, becoming wider or smaller. It is suggested that basepoints and baselines in the unilateral maritime zones be maintained and updated regularly to match the actual conditions that can shift due to coastline dynamics. © 2022 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

The present progress in implementing artificial intelligence (AI) has encountered attitudes in human existence, encompassing both professional and everyday aspects, particularly within higher education. AI does not exclude those with anxiety, especially social anxiety, over the existence of technology and all types of complexity. Several types of research have established a correlation between social and technical blindness and views toward broad AI usage. However, no specific gender or age-generation characteristics have been identified. This study employs quantitative research methodology, specifically Smart-PLS software for PLS-SEM modelling. The research included a sample of 93 lecturers, both male and female, from generations X and Y in Indonesia. The findings of this study demonstrate that social technical blindness detrimentally impacts individuals' views toward the utilization of AI. From a gender standpoint, the path coefficients have no notable disparity. Therefore, the path coefficients for both women and men are not significantly distinct. Consequently, the need for greater awareness and understanding of AI's social and technological aspects impacts both women and men. This research provides practical implications by enhancing instructors' comprehension and perception of AI's efficacy, aiming to mitigate prevailing concerns. In theory, this research enhances the concept of self-determination theory. Subsequent investigations can include the constraints of this study, such as the specific nature and duration of artificial intelligence utilization. © 2024 IEEE.

Early detection of heart rate conditions in autistic children is crucial for anticipating tantrum reactions and providing prompt medical intervention. Previous research designed a prototype for acquiring Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals using the AD8232 sensor, but it required a long time to identify heart rate conditions. This study aims to develop the previous prototype using Internet of Things (IoT) implementation to acquire and identify the heart rate conditions of autistic children in real time. The ECG signal data is analyzed using Butterworth Filter and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) integrated into Raspberry Pi and results are transmitted to the Blynk App. Testing over 20 minutes showed that in the first 10 minutes, the system identified a normal heart rate at 105.19 BPM with 67% accuracy, while in the second 10 minutes, the heart rate rose to 117.19 BPM with tantrum symptoms and 75% accuracy. This system helps medical personnel provide immediate intervention during tantrums.

This study aims to develop an edible coating based on virgin coconut oil (VCO) nanoemulsion, iota-carrageenan and alginate to prolong the shelf life of pindang (mildly salted cooked) fish products. The research involved three stages: material preparation, characterization and determination of factors and responses for experimental design;parameter optimization to achieve optimal conditions;and application and analysis of pre- and post-coating characteristics of pindang fish. The parameter ranges were 0.5–1.5% for alginate concentration, 0.5–1.5% for iota-carrageenan concentration and 0.5–1.0% for VCO nanoemulsion concentration. The result of this study was an optimized food coating solution that was clear and bright white in color. Pindang fish coated with this layer showed improved quality in terms of water content (48.46%), weight loss (0.39%), pH (5.84), total volatile base (47.01%), salt content (2.9%), appearance (7), texture (7) and slime (7). At the same time, the total bacterial count remained unchanged (8 log colony-forming units (CFU)/g), the mold count remained unchanged (5 log CFU/g) and the aroma and taste received a score of 6. Thus, this study successfully produced an optimized edible coating that can enhance the quality and extend the shelf life of pindang fish, making it suitable for broader market distribution. © 2023 ICE Publishing. Thefts problem in household needs to be anticipated with home security system. One of simple methods is using automatic solenoid door lock system, so that it is difficult to be duplicated and will reduce the chance of theft action when the house is empty. Therefore, a home security system prototype that can be accessed by utilizing biometric fingerprint, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and keypad sensors was designed and tested. Arduino Uno works to turn on the door lock solenoid, so door access will be given when authentication is successful. Experimental results show that fingerprint sensor works well by being able to read fingerprints perfectly and the average time required to scan a fingerprint was 3.7 seconds. Meanwhile, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor detects Electronic-Kartu Tanda Penduduk (E-KTP) and the average time required for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to scan the card is about 2.4 seconds. Keypad functions to store password to unlock the door which produces the average time of 3.7 seconds after 10 trials. Average time to open with multi-sensor is 9.8 seconds. However, its drawback is no notification or SMS which directly be accessed by a cellphone or website with Wi-Fi or Telegram applications allow homeowners to monitor their doors from afar as to minimize the number of house thefts.

The geodiversity site of Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek, Indonesia: Promoting geo-education and geotourism through geosite assessment

Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek holds unique and diverse geodiversity, encompassing geomorphology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, paleontology, tectonic, structural geology, and complex geological history. This area promises potential to be recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark, with a geological rock spanning Pre-Tertiary and Neogene epochs. The study focused on assessing 14 prominent geosites to quantitatively evaluate their geological significance, potential educational value, touristic value, and degradation risks, and intrinsic values. The study's main goal was to globally promote the area's rich geoheritage among the public and geoscientists. Results from this assessment categorized Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek within the moderate-high value range, with the Silokek Karst Complex and Granit of Sangkiamo identified as high-value geosites. Our study identified that there were 5 geological phases that could be studied and observed in the Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek. The findings underscored the geopark's potential for educational and tourism purposes, highlighting its suitability as a pioneering geo-education site and earth science field laboratory in Sumatra, Indonesia. This study also highlighted future initiatives which would include designing geotourism activities and educational programs within Geopark Ranah Minang Silokek and beyond.

The loading and unloading activities of container ships at the Tanjung Perak Port is imperative, as they can be carried out quickly and efficiently. These ships tend to have a high frequency of visits and possess the largest gross tonnage among ships used for the transportation of goods. The occurrence of an accident involving a container ship can have a detrimental effect on the seamless delivery of goods via sea transportation. Furthermore, the crew be adequately prepared in order to mitigate the risk. As evidenced by research on safety behaviour have not taken preparedness as a factor into consideration when addressing emergencies. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of safety knowledge, motivation, and awareness on safety behaviour in dealing with emergencies on container ships in accordance with relevant regulations. A total of 180 ship crew members served as respondents and it analysed using SEM-PLS. The results showed that preparedness, including safety procedures, emergency training, and crew security culture is an important aspect in dealing with emergencies. Furthermore, this study obtained an R square value of 0.525 in the structural model, indicating that the independent variables have an influence on behaviour, and it was classified in the good category. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in improving the economy of small communities and the stability of the Indonesian economy. However, they still face various problems such as capital, raw materials, distribution, licensing, and others. This study developed a special treatment recommendation system to increase the independence of MSMEs by adopting a ranking-based method to produce recommendations related to problem-solving steps from MSMEs. The ranking method used Normalized Rating Frequency (NRF). This method performed an aggregation process of the ratings given by MSMEs in looking at the priority level of problem-solving based on previous experience. The result of the experiment showed that an average NDCG value was 0.7916. This explained that the quality of the ranking was good so that it was feasible to be recommended in solving problems in the form of special treatment to acquire to the independence of MSMEs. © 2021 IEEE

The motor impairments that stroke patients experience as a primary contributor to death and disability also impact their quality of life. Due to its characteristics as complex muscle signals, the Electromyograph (EMG) signal may be one of the markers in rehabilitation and a substitute that may be used to judge the success of rehabilitation. This study aims to analyze the complexity of EMG signals originating from the flexion of the flexor carpi radialis muscle with various weights indicating the rehabilitation state. It is important to monitor the progress of rehabilitation, and it can be done by using complexity analysis. The complexity of the EMG is examined in this work utilizing entropy measurement, namely Approximate Entropy (ApEn), Sample Entropy (SampEn), and Fuzzy Approximate Entropy (fApEn). We concentrated on the flexor carpi radialis muscle using flexion–extension exercises and varying the weight load. This study’s results indicate differences in the complexity of the EMG signal in the flexor carpi radialis when performing flexion–extension movements. Three differences showed a correlation based on the value of ApEN, SampEn, and fApEn. Complexity Analysis using fApEn showed the best correlation at R = 0.9966, which can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The increase in weight was followed by the increase of the fApEn value, indicating that the value can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The use of complexity analysis of EMG signal from flexion movement in flexor carpi radialis with various weights can be used to indicate the progress in the rehabilitation process. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The integration of 5G and VANET will result in an intelligent transportation system. Relay of 5G data from mobile networks to VANET which is greatly underutilized can reduce the burden on mobile networks. Wireless technology has been used in vehicles or better known as the Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET). One of the keys to the success of sending data on VANET is the Path Selection Algorithm which is the task of the routing protocol the routing protocol that is widely used in research in the VANET environment is AODV (Adhoc On-Demand Distance Vector), because among other protocols, AODV is the most suitable and suitable for implementation in the VANET environment, and AODV is also one of the reactive routing protocols. This study includes an increase in the performance of a routing protocol, so in this study, the SIN (Static Intersection Node) is added to the RSU (Road-Side Unit) which is located at an intersection. Which functions as a repeater that helps send data packets to other vehicles around it so that it can increase the Packet Delivery Ratio and minimize Packet Loss and End to End Delay the focus of this research is to determine the most ideal Static Intersection Node position as well as the most effective number of Static Intersection Nodes. © 2021 IEEE.
