It is undeniable that microplastics are found in many types of water, including drinking water. This study aims to investigate the presence of microplastics in one of the drinking waters widely used by communities in Indonesia, known as unbranded refilled drinking water. The investigation was conducted at eight unbranded refilled drinking water depots in Karawang, West Java. A total of 2.00 L of raw air and processed water samples were taken from each depot, then prepared by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, analyzed using an Olympus BX - 41 microscope with a magnification of ten times, and then counted manually. The results showed that raw and processed water in all unbranded refilled drinking water depots contained microplastics with details of 15.50-42.00 particles/L and 6.50-17.50 particles/L, respectively. The dominant microplastics found were fibers and fragments with sizes of 1.00-3.00 mm and less than 1.00 mm. Furthermore, the dominant color of the microplastics was black, indicating that the polymers of microplastics were polyethylene, polypropylene, or polystyrene. This finding has confirmed that refilled drinking water consumed by the community in Indonesia has potentially become one of the main pathways for the entry and accumulation of microplastics into the human body, posing significant health risks. The Indonesian government has considered appropriate technology (AT) as a cost-effective strategy to increase productivity, including for farmers in processing agricultural commodities. However, its acceptance and effectiveness still need to be improved so that AT can be used for the general population. The existing AT designs seem to fail in considering the characteristics and capabilities of their users. This paper proposed expanding universal design principles for AT in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). After conducted random observation and interviews with SMEs in Subang Area, this study refers to relevant literature studies from various previous studies. This study's results are new universal design principles: flexibility in use, practicability, ease of service, perceptible information, tolerance for error, low physical effort, low energy, adjustability, mobility, and modular and straightforward and intuitive use. A conceptual model proposed in this study describes the relationship among user characteristics, the concept of universal design, and the effectiveness of using appropriate technology. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This research explores the impact of blockchain-based financing strategies on the coffee supply chain, focusing on improving financial procedures, increasing transparency, and refining supply chain management methodologies. Implementing blockchain technology in the supply chain leads to a more efficient, secure, and collaborative financial system in the coffee industry. Our study categorizes existing research into four stages: summarization, synthesis, comparison, and critique. Findings indicate that blockchain integration can significantly address transparency, fair trade, and trust issues within coffee supply chains. This paper proposes modifications to existing models better to fit the unique requirements of coffee supply chain processes, highlighting areas for future research.

This research investigates how varying calcination durations affect the surface characteristics of a Zeolite-Chitosan composite with oil palm ash, aiming to determine its water contaminant removal potential. Three different calcination durations (1, 2, and 3 hours) are studied. The synthesis involves mixing oil palm ash with Zeolite-Chitosan, followed by varying-duration calcination. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and surface area analysis (SAA) are used to assess surface characteristics. Initial findings indicate that changing calcination duration significantly impacts the composite's surface features and specific surface area. Longer calcination leads to increased surface roughness and higher specific surface area. The 3-hour calcination results in the highest surface roughness and specific surface area among the durations tested. These findings suggest that calcination duration is crucial in altering the composite's structural properties, which could affect its efficacy in adsorbing water contaminants. Ongoing research aims to better understand the relationship between calcination duration and the composite's adsorption performance, ultimately optimizing the synthesis of the Zeolite-Chitosan composite with oil palm ash for efficient water contaminant remediation. © 2023 Institute of Physics Publishing. The problem of flooding in Central Vietnam in general and the lower Ba River in particular is one of the natural disasters that frequently threatens people's lives and socioeconomic development in the ***,climate change is becoming ever more prominent and hotter,making extreme natural disasters more unusual and *** this research,MIKE-FLOOD—a model that connects a 1-dimensional(1-D)MIKE 11 Hydrodynamics(HD)model with a 2-dimensional(2-D)MIKE 21 HD model—was used to set *** model was calculated for three floods:(1)flood in October 1993,(2)flood in November 2003,and(3)flood in November 2007;these are floods with high frequency and relatively large *** results show that the 1993 flood rose and receded *** flood peak inundated an area of 22,600 ha,accounting for 52%of the natural *** flooded areas deeper than 1,2,3,4,and 5m were 16500,11,000,7000,4200,and 2200 ha,*** the center of Tuy Hoa city,the flooded area at the time of maximum water level was almost 100%.

In Bali, the high volume of tourists significantly contributes to marine debris, particularly plastics, which threatens the ecological health of beaches and marine life, impacting both tourism and local livelihoods. Effective management is crucial to preserve Bali's natural beauty and sustainability. This study explores the factors influencing the willingness to participate (WTP) in marine debris management among urban communities in the Bali metropolitan area, Indonesia. Utilizing a binary logistic regression model, we examine the impact of key elements for effective marine debris management, risk awareness, learning performance, and higher monthly income and geographic differences between inland and coastal communities. The findings reveal that effective management practices significantly enhance community participation, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability, and well-organized efforts. Educational initiatives also play a crucial role, with performance in risk awareness and learning showing a marginally significant positive effect on WTP. Conversely, higher income levels negatively influence participation, suggesting a preference for institutional funding over personal contributions. Geographic differences indicate that coastal communities are more inclined to participate than inland communities. These insights provide valuable guidance for policymakers and practitioners in developing strategies to mobilize volunteers, enhance urban resilience, and promote social well-being. By implementing effective management practices, comprehensive educational programs, tailored engagement strategies, and fostering partnerships, urban communities in Bali can become more resilient and actively address environmental challenges. © 2024 The Authors

Big data technology is the overall technology that can handle the processing associated with analyzing the data to explore the potential that is in it. Some of the uses of big data are based on the biggest data traffic sources, such as social media, financial transactions, public data, censorship data, and company data. The problem found in the accumulation of village status data that has not been utilized in the decision-making process to determine the status of the next village and the absence of an application to process the data stored in the data database so that a tool is developed to analyze the buildup. The results of this study are to produce a prototype design that is Unified Modeling Language (UML) design, Form Design, and Database Design that will be used to develop Big Data Technology in determining the classification of village status based on the Village Build index. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Big data refers to big data, fast data processing, diversity of data structures, and data values so that it is not possible to be processed with outdated methods. Big data technology is used in various industrial sectors. Big data technology is the whole technology that can handle Big Data. Some of the uses of big data are based on the largest significant data traffic sources such as social media, financial transactions, public data, sensor data, and corporate data. The same is the case with the status of so many villages in Indonesia, so it is better to use big data for the classification of village status based on the village index build by involving an algorithm process. This research aims to produce a description of the role of big data in supporting activities in a grouping. The method used is a qualitative approach related to data collection based on scientific work with the source of data information needed to study literature techniques from various studies that have been published in national and international journals. A decision is made that big data has been widely used in different circles to facilitate performance and speed up the decision-making process. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Foaming agents for fire suppression on peatland were formulated from the saponification product of palm oil fatty acids, namely sodium laurate and potassium palmitate. This study aimed to obtain the best formulation of sodium laurate and potassium palmitate as raw material for foaming agent concentrate through formula selection based on physical parameters foaming ability, foam stability, and surface tension. In addition to obtaining the best formula, foam liquid performance test for the foaming agent was also conducted on the peat fire suppression applications. Formulation of sodium laurate and potassium palmitate that produce the best foaming agent concentrate was 20% sodium laurate, 5.58% potassium palmitate, and 74.42% water, which produced a foaming response of 393.58%, foam stability of 69.59%, and surface tension of 31.11 dyne/cm. Foam performance test for the mixture of water and foaming agent showed that peat fire could be extinguished in 3 h 50 min 42 s using 4.56 L/m2 extinguishing solution. Meanwhile, fire suppression with water requires 5 h 31 min 59 s, with the application of 9.72 L/m2 solution. Water mixed with a foaming agent concentrate can extinguish peat fires faster than using water alone, besides being faster the application of foaming agents can reduce water consumption. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Geographical Information System is a term in the field of mapping which has a scope of how a system can unify geographic objects and their information. Freshwater fishery is the business of the majority of residents of South Bengkulu Regency covering tilapia and catfish. The solution is to create a web-based Freshwater Fish Pond GIS application using the PHP programming language. Making a database using MySQL, and for geolocation storage using Google Fusion Tables. The web that will be created will later display the GIS Web-based Freshwater Fish Pond Distribution Mapping in South Bengkulu Regency. Each pond will be accompanied by information such as the name of the owner, type of fish, type of pond, and location of the pond. It is known that the number of ponds in 4 villages in 2 districts in South Bengkulu Regency has reached 100 ponds consisting of 80 tilapia fish ponds, 20 catfish ponds. © 2021 IEEE.
