New trends for making an all-weather photovoltaic (PV) that is able to trigger by both sunlight and raindrops become trends in developing the solar energy systems to generate electricity for households, industries and buildings. The idea is to develop a hybrid device that harvests kinetic energy from water without destroying the output of the solar cell during sunny times. This paper reviews the two devices of hybrid sunlight and raindrops, namely are the Triboelectric Nano Generator (TENG) and Pseudo Capacitor Graphene Layer (PCGL), respectively. Both TENG and PCGL similarly in such way places two transparent polymer layers on top of PV cell. When raindrops fall on to the layers and then roll off, the friction generates a static electricity charge. In addition, these devices even could provide electricity at night whenever there is rain. These two trends of all-weather PV obviously have advantages and drawbacks, as they have been developed in order to make them more compact and efficient as the device that harvesting sunlight during dry seasons and rainfall during wet seasons both for days and nights. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

24d Netafim sprinkler meganet performance test on discharge variations for urban agriculture

In cities, many rice fields have changed their function to housing, offices, hotels, and others, so that agricultural land is getting narrower, many irrigation canals have turned into drainage channels, and some are even closed so that irrigation access for land that is still productive cannot be done. So that land that is still productive does not have access to irrigation water. To support agricultural activities, it is necessary to select an appropriate irrigation method from conventional to more technical methods such as the use of mini sprinklers that are already on the market, so that they are not disturbed by the existing irrigation canals. For this reason, it is necessary to test the mini mega net 24D Netafim sprinkler irrigation system with various variations discharge of the pump. The performance test was carried out on an area of 0.98 are using a source of irrigation water from a Shimizu PS-121-BIT type pump. The testing phase starts from the preparation of materials and tools, preparation of the irrigation network, testing of the flow of discharge, and testing of irrigation sprinklers. Meanwhile, the analyzed data includes data of discharge variations, radius data, and irrigation uniformity data. The results showed that the test with discharge variations Q1 = 0.59 l / s, Q2 = 0.54 l / s, Q3 = 0.46 l / s and Q4 = 0.37 l / s obtained uniformity (Cu) respectively 85,759, 85,760, 87,109 and 87,603%, on the average number is more than 85%. The shower radius of each of the above discharge variations is R1 = 4.54, R2 = 4.31, R3 = 4.13 and R4 = 3.96 m. So, the performance of the irrigation system with the 24D Netafim sprinkler is good, so it can be applied for certain types of agricultural crops.

Gamification is the process of incorporating game design aspects into non-gaming products or services to enhance usage and provide more long-term effects. The implementation of gamification in diverse practical focus areas necessitates the application and adaptation of the gamification theoretical idea to technological breakthroughs and their application. The goal of this study is to examine the determinants of gamification in the marketplace using gamified learning theory. This research takes a quantitative approach, utilizing SEM-PLS modeling and the SmartPLS 4.0 analytic tool. Participants from Generation Z were employed for this study. This group is recognized for its tendency to become readily bored and to move around while utilizing a product. According to the findings of this study, varying the intensity of recommendations to other people can demonstrate that the output does not only stop at the outcomes of playing, such as the acquisition of coins or other rewards, but also extends to the act of recommending to others. This is consistent with the game's features, which include the ability to invite friends to help finish objectives. This study has theoretical significance for enhancing differentiated learning theory. In practice, the findings of this study highlight the importance of consistently designing instructional features and content to keep students' attention. The research's flaws stem from the usage of limited game elements and the participants' background profile, which was ignored in favor of ignoring their game experience.

In an era demanding sustainable consumption, the challenge of single-used plastic (SUP) remains significant. This study delves into the transformative capacity of the Importance-Performance Eduruption method to reshape consumerism and encourage SUP reduction. Drawing on binary choice models, we elucidated the determinants influencing students' willingness to participate in SUP reduction initiatives. Beyond the quantitative metrics, the study highlighted the deep-seated influence of educational methods. Applied learning strategies like Problem-Based and Project-Based Learning emerged as influential touchpoints, aligning students with sustainable habits. Simultaneously, the importance-performance analysis revealed areas needing immediate intervention, notably research-oriented methods. Our findings spotlight the influential role education plays in driving sustainable consumer behavior. By integrating importance-performance insights into curriculum planning and broader policy frameworks, stakeholders can more effectively harness the disruptive potential of education to further the goals of Sustainable Development Goal 12 and create a more sustainable future. © 2024 The Authors

Biomass is a very important energy source in the sugar mill industry as the main fuel in the power plant boilers. The efficiency of boilers for most sugar mills in Indonesia is quite low and the availability of bagasse is lacking so that in its operations, co-firing has to be applied with an alternative biomass fuels such as rice husk, cane trash, wood and saw dust. Based on the analysis, rice husk has a lower calorific (3248 cal/gr) value than that of bagasse (4076 cal/gr), but it has a higher ash content (20.67%) than that of bagasse (3.66%), so adjustments in boiler operation is required when using rice husk as co-firing. The higher ash content in biomass can affect the performance of the furnace and superheater in the boiler and increase the potential for deposit formation. The composition of rice husk ash was dominated by silica (SiO2) which reached 95.52%. It is higher than the silica content of bagasse which reached 74.99%. The high silica content in rice husks has the potential to conduce melting ash in boiler grate. The alkali content of rice husk which was around 3.64% is less than that found in bagasse which reached 17.33%. Even though, the ash composition analysis shows quite small potential for slagging, fouling, melting, sintering, and agglomeration, but the large amount of ash content in rice husks can increase the potential for the occurrence of the risks. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This investigative research aims to convert urban non-organic waste fuels such as plastic waste into energy using fixed bed pyrolysis technology. Pyrolysis fixed bed (PFB) is one of the most efficient technologies for converting various types of undegradable solid waste into thermal energy and liquid fuels with high efficiency. The study was conducted on a lab-scale PFB reactor with dimensions of 15 cm and 55 cm in diameter and bed height respectively. The reactor is equipped with a cooling and decomposition system to accommodate liquid and gas products. Reactor temperature variations using an external heater were tested and quartz sands were selected as a bed material to improve the temperature function of the PFB reactor so as the maximum quality and quantity of liquid product were obtained. The fuel properties of the derived oil were tested including their physical properties, calorific value, elemental measurement (CHNOS) analysis. The results of the study showed that the increase in temperature resulted in an increased pyrolysis performance which was indicated by the increased volume and liquid caloric value. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Increased crime and cyber-attacks make network security an essential prerequisite for organizations. However, organizations cannot guarantee this because the COVID-19 pandemic has forced organizations to suspend activities in the office and give employees the option to work from home. As a result, employees must always be connected to the home network to work. It can attract hackers to take advantage of the situation by launching various attacks. Therefore home network security must be updated, minimize vulnerabilities, and apply additional security. The number of IoT devices that can connect to the home network is also considered to increase security because the main entry point for hacking IoT is through the network. Raspberry Pi 4 can be used as a low-cost, power-efficient, and practical solution for home network security, including IDS Suricata, multiple honeypots (Cowrie & Dionaea), and Tshark packet analyzer. There are six types of attack simulations: port scanning, brute force, TCP flood attacks, smurf attacks, UDP flood attacks, and exploits on services/ports. Measurement of device performance is also carried out when running the system. Log data from the four sensors will be visualized with the ELK stack, making it easier to analyze attacks.

Production of bioinsecticide from durian peel waste and Dioscorea hispida tuber extract by ultrasonic-assisted extraction

A new armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) is rapidly spreading and causing damage to corn crops in Indonesia, thus prompting the need to control the pest with an effective, yet environmentally friendly pest control method, such as bioinsecticide. Natural raw materials like durian peel waste and Dioscorea hispida tuber can be processed to produce a natural bioinsecticide. To discover the optimum processing condition for bioinsecticide production, research is conducted to find the effective solvent material and concentration in ultrasonic-assisted extraction methods. Durian peel waste is extracted using ethanol 30% and methanol 70% as solvents with the ratio variation of 1:0, 0:1, 1:1, 1:2, 2:1. Meanwhile, Dioscorea hispida tubers are extracted with various ethanol concentrations as solvents (ethanol 50%, 70%, 80%, absolute, and distilled water). The result shows that the most effective solvent for durian peel waste extraction is a 2:1 ratio of ethanol and methanol, with the optimum yield of 12.58%. The result also shows that Dioscorea hispida tuber is best extracted with distilled water, yielding 34.70%. The efficacy test concludes that the best solvent variation for pest elimination is a 0:1 ratio of ethanol and methanol durian peel waste and ethanol 80% for Dioscorea hispida tuber. The LC-MS/MS test results identified that alkaloid, flavonoid, and fatty acid compounds potentially caused larvae mortality.

Wind farm sites selection using GIS and multi-criteria analysis: The case of Sumba Island - Indonesia

Renewable energy has grown rapidly nowadays. One of them is wind energy which also has been developed in Indonesia. One of the major technical challenges for wind energy development is to locate the areas with high suitability for placing wind farms, so finding suitable locations is critical for the economic success of wind farm operation. In the past few decades, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have been widely used to assist for locating suitable sites for wind farms. In this study, GIS and multi-criteria decision analysis were used to select the suitable location for the wind farms in Sumba Island, Indonesia. There were five criteria used in the method, including distance to road, population density, wind potential, land use, slope, and added with exclusionary areas. The weighted overlay was used as the method to find the suitability wind farm sites with the concerns of geospatial layers related to the criteria. The resulted suitability map for the wind farm development in the study area gave five categories of suitability levels: unsuitable, very low, low, medium and high. Research results showed that around 21.5% area of Sumba Island fell into medium and high suitability levels. The method used in this study, if used with care, can be applied to other areas with a similar background.

Indonesia central government policy in managing national level energy plans must be succeeded by the government at the provincial level. Every province has to make its energy planning projection until 2050. This study aims to study the potential of biogas at provincial level. The method taken for this research is based on secondary data that refers to documents issued by the Department of Mines and Energy, data from the Department of Food Security and Livestock of North Sumatra Province as well as data from the Indonesia Statistic Bereau. These data are used as a basis for calculating the biogas energy potential of livestock. This research is limited to biogas particularly biogas from cow/buffalo for household hold energy necessity/cooking. The calculation results show that the biogas potential in 2050 is 1,178 TOE, meanwhile the projection data issued by the Department of Mines and Energy of the Province of North Sumatra in the first projection, namely business as usual (BAU) is 12 TOE and the second projection, namely the Regional Energy General Plan (RUED) is 55 TOE. Based on the result it can be recommended that biogas potential from livestock has to be utilised as much as possible for household energy necessity/cooking. It is reasonable because the result show the value reported by the Department of Mining and Energy BAU 12 TOE and RUED 55 TOE is far from the value resulted from this study where 1,178 TOE. © 2021 IEEE.
