River pollution has become a severe problem in Indonesia. Industrial waste causes water pollution because the waste is not filtered before being discharged into the river. Illegal waste dumping cannot be prosecuted due to insufficient data and unknown disposal times. Therefore, a tool is needed to measure river water waste to measure polluted water waste data. Studies on river water monitoring devices have shown that there are no portable monitoring tools based on the internet of things for river water waste that follows regulatory standards from the Minister of Health. This study aims to produce a portable monitoring tool based on the internet of things for water waste. The system was developed using TDS sensors, turbidity, pH, MQ-135 sensors, and the system is equipped with a GPS module to indicate the location's latitude. The monitoring system is developed through the stages of system design, testing water samples, setting water quality standards and required hardware and components, setting river water quality parameters, and conducting system testing. The test results show that the system can send the data obtained to dashboard things via an internet connection, the TDS sensor error rate is 2.17%, the pH sensor error rate is 1.87%, the turbidity sensor error rate is 1.66%, the MQ135 sensor value is at the quality limit. The internet of things-based portable river waste monitoring system produced through this research helps related parties to identify and handle polluted rivers. Water according to the standards of the Ministry of Health, and the GPS module shows location measurements and information according to the location's latitude on google maps. © 2022 IEEE.

Asia stands out as a priority for urgent biodiversity conservation due to its large protected areas(PAs)and threatened *** the 21st century,both the highlands and lowlands of Asia have been experiencing the dramatic human ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity is poorly ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity over 2000 to 2020 in Asia at the continental(Asia),national(48 Asian countries),and hotspot(6,502 Asian terrestrial PAs established before 2000)scales is investigated by integrating multiple large-scale *** results show that human expansion poses widespread threat to biodiversity in Asia,especially in Southeast Asia,with Malaysia,Cambodia,and Vietnam having the largest threat degrees(~1.5 to 1.7 times of the Asian average level).Human expansion in highlands induces higher threats to biodiversity than that in lowlands in one-third Asian countries(most Southeast Asian countries).The regions with threats to biodiversity are present in~75%terrestrial PAs(including 4,866 PAs in 26 countries),and human expansion in PAs triggers higher threat degrees to biodiversity than that in *** findings provide novel insight for the Sustainable Development Goal 15(SDG-15 Life on Land)and suggest that human expansion in Southeast Asian countries and PAs might hinder the realization of *** reduce the threat degree,Asian developing countries should accelerate economic transformation,and the developed countries in the world should reduce the demands for commodity trade in Southeast Asian countries(i.e.,trade leading to the loss of wildlife habitats)to alleviate human expansion,especially in PAs and highlands.

Artificial support material was examined to determine the removal capacity of organic pollutants and nutrients on laboratory scale using PFR system. The experiment was performed using artificial water with similar characteristics to Cikapayang River in three PFRs of 10.78 L. The PFRs were made of PVC pipes filled with an inert chemical substrate as an artificial support material. The process of pollutants removal in the PFR relies on a biological layer (biofilm) grown on the surface of the material support. Three type of C:N:P ratio used in this study were 30:15:1, 75:25:2, and 180:35:3. The results showed that the maximum removal efficiency of TSS, TN, TP, and COD in the preliminary tests were 85%, 87%, 71% and 79%, respectively. Moreover, the maximum water absorption capacity result was up to 30.8%. Organic substrate removal rate compared with first order and Strover-Kincannon substrate removal models prediction. The best fit model for this experiment was Stover-Kincannon model, with the average correlation coefficient up to 90% for all of the three reactors. SEM analysis shown that the microorganisms shape is coccus with the average size of 5 μm. © 2020 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Travel behaviour of domestic tourists concerning their choices of transportation mode has a significant role in managing traffic in the tourist destination. This study analyses the domestic tourists' choice and their pattern of needs of transportation mode in Bali as the case study. The developed models are based on utility maximisation of underlying preferences for each of the available modes of transport. Domestic tourists are randomly selected and interviewed using the questionnaire to record their daily trips. The study result indicates that income, number of visits and travel companions significantly influence the choice of transportation mode for domestic tourists. Meanwhile, income, number of visits, length of stays, trip purpose and main issues in selecting local transport mode significantly affect the pattern of needs of transportation mode for domestic tourists. For example, two accompanying persons will be three times more than that of seven persons or more to choose motorcycle and bus than a car. Domestic tourists who have visited Bali twice will be three times more than those who visited Bali once to use travel agents and rented vehicles than public and online transport and others. Further studies on short duration trips and sustainable mode of transport are suggested. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Early detection of heart rate conditions in autistic children is crucial for anticipating tantrum reactions and providing prompt medical intervention. Previous research designed a prototype for acquiring Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals using the AD8232 sensor, but it required a long time to identify heart rate conditions. This study aims to develop the previous prototype using Internet of Things (IoT) implementation to acquire and identify the heart rate conditions of autistic children in real time. The ECG signal data is analyzed using Butterworth Filter and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) integrated into Raspberry Pi and results are transmitted to the Blynk App. Testing over 20 minutes showed that in the first 10 minutes, the system identified a normal heart rate at 105.19 BPM with 67% accuracy, while in the second 10 minutes, the heart rate rose to 117.19 BPM with tantrum symptoms and 75% accuracy. This system helps medical personnel provide immediate intervention during tantrums.

Thefts problem in household needs to be anticipated with home security system. One of simple methods is using automatic solenoid door lock system, so that it is difficult to be duplicated and will reduce the chance of theft action when the house is empty. Therefore, a home security system prototype that can be accessed by utilizing biometric fingerprint, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and keypad sensors was designed and tested. Arduino Uno works to turn on the door lock solenoid, so door access will be given when authentication is successful. Experimental results show that fingerprint sensor works well by being able to read fingerprints perfectly and the average time required to scan a fingerprint was 3.7 seconds. Meanwhile, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor detects Electronic-Kartu Tanda Penduduk (E-KTP) and the average time required for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to scan the card is about 2.4 seconds. Keypad functions to store password to unlock the door which produces the average time of 3.7 seconds after 10 trials. Average time to open with multi-sensor is 9.8 seconds. However, its drawback is no notification or SMS which directly be accessed by a cellphone or website with Wi-Fi or Telegram applications allow homeowners to monitor their doors from afar as to minimize the number of house thefts.

Recent borehole seismic deployments conducted along the Baribis Fault in northwestern Java reveal that it may be active. In this study, we exploit these data to locate proximal earthquakes using a relative relocation technique, estimate their moment magnitudes using a spectral fitting method and compute their focal mechanisms via waveform inversion. We observe that seismicity in the eastern part of the fault is significantly higher than in the west, where a previous GPS study of the region south of Jakarta demonstrated the existence of high compression rates. These observations imply that the western Baribis Fault is locked, and that neighbouring areas, including southern Jakarta and its surroundings, may be highly vulnerable to future sizeable earthquakes when accumulated elastic strain energy is eventually released during fault rupture. Significantly, the current generation of Indonesia's national hazard maps have not considered seismicity along the Baribis Fault. Our new results therefore call for an urgent reappraisal of the seismic hazard in northwestern Java that carefully takes into account the Baribis Fault and its earthquake potential, particularly in light of its proximity to Jakarta, a megacity that lies at the heart of one of the most densely populated islands in the world.

The last decade epidemiologic concern of drinking water contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in Asian Countries: A scoping review

With the rapid industrialization and urbanization in Asian countries, the challenge of rising emerging contaminants in the environment, including the water cycle, has become more pronounced. Consequently, the presence of CECs in drinking water systems is inevitable due to their ubiquitous nature in aquatic environments. This scoping review aims to identify epidemiological concerns regarding drinking water CECs in Asian countries over the past decade by describing the types of assessed CECs, their associated health effects, and identifying gaps and future research prospects through a summary of relevant studies. Searches were conducted on PubMed and Scopus up to February 29, 2024. Included were epidemiological studies from the past 10 years (since January 2014) in Asian countries that assessed emerging contaminants in drinking water through direct measurement or analysis as factors. From an initial pool of 3198 results, 15 relevant studies were selected. These studies assessed various types of CECs, including disinfection byproducts (n = 10), endocrine disruptors (n = 2), pesticides (n = 2), and a protozoan pathogen (n = 1). The meticulous assessment of CECs and associated health outcomes in Asian epidemiological studies over the past decade has been deemed inadequate to address the wide range of ubiquitous CECs in drinking water and their potential health effects that have not yet been addressed. While not the sole objective, the primary aim of epidemiological studies is to inform policy decisions and increase awareness among the public and policymakers. Therefore, researchers in Asian countries, particularly in environmental and public health fields, should prioritize the development of research in this area by exploring more CECs type and associated health outcomes. © 2024 The Author(s)

Predicting earthquake occurrences in time series data remains a challenging task in seismology. NARX (Nonlinear Autoregressive with eXogenous input) neural networks have recently shown promise for accurate predictions. While previous research has demonstrated NARX's effectiveness in estimating earthquake frequencies, the architecture still relies on several pre-determined parameters. These parameters include the number of hidden layers, number of neurons, and delay time. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Ensemble Deep Learning NARX neural networks in predicting time series of earthquakes. The proposed ensemble model integrates multiple NARX neural networks, each trained on a distinct subset of earthquake data. This approach aims to enhance prediction accuracy and bolster model robustness. The dataset consists of time series records detailing earthquake occurrence frequencies and magnitudes. The results show performance evaluation metrics in terms of Mean Square Error (MSE) values. For training frequency data, the MSE is 4.10e-26, and for testing, it is 6.05e-22. Regarding training magnitude data, the MSE is 2.86e-21 for training and 3.17e-19 for testing. This study makes a valuable contribution to the advancement of earthquake prediction techniques, underscoring the potential of Ensemble Deep Learning NARX neural networks for precise time series estimation in seismology.

Recently, thermal cameras have been used in various fields, including surveillance systems and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), as they perform better in low light than visible-light cameras. Some challenges in the surveillance system or ADAS field related to thermal cameras are occlusion and thermal crossover between objects with similar appearances during object detection or object tracking tasks, which can lead to misdetection, false positives, and lost tracking. In this paper, performance analysis of you-only-look-once (YOLO) combined with deep online real-time tracking (DeepSORT) on thermal video-based online multi-object tracking (MOT) in occlusion and thermal crossover scene is presented. YOLO, as one of state-of-the-art method for detection task, is used for detection system. Then, the detected object from YOLO is tracked using DeepSORT. The results demonstrate that the online MOT of sequential thermal images using YOLO-DeepSORT achieved a MOTA score of 44.2% and IDF1 of 45.3%. Thus, negative example was added in YOLO training process to reduce false detection, and it gives improvement with MOTA score of 63.8% and IDF1 score of 54.6%.
