Dynamometer is an automotive device that is used to perform engine testing. From this test, engine information such as power, torque, and emition can be obtained for design and analysis purposes. Eddy brakes dynamometer is considered because it is considerably more effective and controllable. In order to design a brakes control system based on state space approach, a state space model is required. ADALINE (Adaptive Linear Network) method is selected to identify state space model of the system from input-output data. The state space based PID controller is then applied by selecting the appropriate parameters using Ackerman pole placement method. Simulation and experimental results show that the closed loop responses satisfiy the design requirements.

After the nuclear accident in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant（FDNPP） caused by the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami on March 11,2011,high concentrations of radiocesium(Cs and Cs) in wild mushrooms and lichens were *** clarify which fungal species are high radiocesium accumulator,the plant pathogenic fungi are investigated *** this study we examine the radiocesium accumulation in azalea leaf gall on Rhododendron indicum caused by Exobasidium japonicum collected from different areas with different aerial radiation *** June 1 and 12, 2012,leaves with leaf gall and healthy leaves of the same tree were collected totally from 23 sites belonging to Ibaraki Pref.,Tochigi *** Fukushima *** 46 samples were dried,weighed and *** concentrations of radionuclides of each samples were determined by gamma-ray spectrometry using a high purity germanium *** results reveal that the concentrations of Cs in diseased samples were double higher than healthy samples at least in 22 *** in one site healthy sample was 1.4-fold higher than diseased *** highest concentration was 3327.2 bq/kg for diseased sample and 1766.8 bq/kg for healthy sample from Date,Fukushima Pref.（ca.60 km far from FDNPP） and this highest concentration was 67-fold higher than the diseased sample of the lowest concentration determined in Tsukuba,Ibaraki Pref.（ca.168 km far from FDNPP）.This study suggests for the first time that plant pathogenic fungi which is chiefly due to hypertrophy of the host cells can increase the accumulation of radiocesium.

Analysis of Fluconazole in Human Urine Sample by High Performance Liquid Chromatography Method

A method for determination of fluconazole, antifungal drug in human urine by using reversed-phased high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) detector was developed. Optimization HPLC conditions were carried out by changing the flow rate and composition of mobile phase. The optimum separation conditions at a flow rate 0.85 mL/min with a composition of mobile phase containing methanol:water (70:30, v/v) with UV detection at a wavelength 254 nm was able to analyze fluconazole within 3 min. The excellent linearity was obtained in the range of concentration 1 to 10 μg/mL with r2 = 0.998. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation (LOQ) were 0.39 μg/mL and 1.28 μg/mL, respectively. Solid phase extraction (SPE) method using octadecylsilane (C18) as a sorbent was used to clean-up and pre-concentrated of the urine sample prior to HPLC analysis. The average recoveries of fluconazole in spiked urine sample was 72.4% with RSD of 3.21% (n=3).

Prediction of Leachate Generation in a Landfill Using Artificial Neural Networks

One of the problems encountered in the operation of a leachate treatment in a landfill is the quantity of the fluctuating leachate. Therefore, information on the precise prediction about the quantity of leachate produced in a landfill is required. This information can be obtained by using an ANN （artificial neural networks） model. In this study, a prediction on a leachate generation for a period of 15 days was made. The input for the ANN model consists of data such as rainfall, temperature, humidity, duration of solar radiation, and the landfill characteristics, while the output is the leachate landfills production in Minamiashigara, Japan. The ANN algorithm uses a BP （back propagation） with LM （Levenberg-Marquadrt） training type. By using the input-output data pairs, the training of ANN model was conducted in order to obtain the values of the weights that describe the relationship between the input-output data. Furthermore, with the trained ANN model, the prediction of leachate generation for a period of 15 days was made. The study result shows that the prediction accuracy ofleachate generation of ANN-C model, with a correlation coefficient （r） of 0.924, is quite good. Thus, the prediction of leachate generation using artificial neural network model can be recommended for predicting leachate generation in the future. In this study, a prediction on a leachate generation for a period of 15 days was made. The quantity of leachate generation in a landfill can be obtained by using ANN for future periods. By entering data for future periods （t ＋1） in ANN models, the leachate generation for the period （t ＋1） can be predicted.

A major problem for sustainable development in the Amazon is the difficulty of supplying electric power to isolated communities, which represent a considerable share of the population. This problem has been a major obstacle to productive activities (especially extractive and agricultural) in such communities, thus significantly contributing to rural drift and creating social problems in larger cities. In that case, one way to supply electric power would be to use the huge network of small rivers in the region by implementing Micro Hydroelectric Power Plants (MHPs). However, this type of hydropower project requires a set of technical assessments in order to obtain better value for its cost-effectiveness from the perspective of sustainable development. Thus, based on a survey of energy demand and the local hydrological and topographical characteristics, two possible MHP designs for the hydrological site under analysis were suggested. Assessments of hydropower, economic and environmental aspects were developed. MHP designs were compared with the diesel generator design of the community under focus. Comparison showed that the MHP designs are feasible in terms of energy to meet local demand;economically, they are more feasible than the diesel generator and are environmentally sustainable, mainly because such designs involve low-head, run-of-river MHPs and the flooded areas were simulated and are not larger than 0.02 km ². Therefore, the information provided by these assessments constitutes important data, serving as subsidies for MHP implementation projects, which shall contribute to sustainable development in the region. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.

A coagulation-flocculation process is typically employed to treat the industrial wastewater generated by the consumer products industry manufacturing detergents, soaps, and others. The expenditure of chemicals including coagulants and chemicals for pH adjustment is costly for treating this wastewater. The objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of reusing the aluminum sulfate (alum) sludge as a coagulant or as a coagulation aid so that the fresh alum dosage can be minimized or the removal efficiency can be enhanced. The experiments were conducted in a jar-test apparatus simulating the coagulation-flocculation process for simultaneous removals of organic matters, anionic surfactants, suspended solids, and turbidity. At the optimum initial pH value of 10 and the fresh alum concentration of 400 mg/L, the total suspended solids (TSS), total chemical oxygen demand (TCOD), total anionic surfactants, and turbidity removal efficiencies were 71.5%, 76.4%, 95.4%, and 98.2%, respectively. The addition of alum sludge as a coagulant alone without any fresh alum addition could significantly remove the turbidity, TCOD, and anionic surfactants. The TSS was left in the supernatants after the settling period, but would subsequently be removed by adding the fresh alum. The TSS, TCOD, and turbidity removal efficiencies were also enhanced when both the alum sludge and the fresh alum were employed. The TCOD removal efficiency over 80% has been accomplished, which has never fulfilled by using the fresh alum alone. It is concluded that the alum sludge could be reused for the treatment of industrial wastewater generated by the consumer products industry.

Knowledge Management System (KMS) is one way to organize and documented the knowledge of institution. The purpose of this study is to develop a prototype KMS in organizing and documenting the knowledge in the university and to do a document aggregation based on the total number, subjects and writers (lecturers). The development method of KMS prototype is using sharepoints which are able to collect, store and publish all digital data available at the university which can be accessed online. Aggregation is using the percentage between the number of documents, subjects, and writers (lecturers). The aggregation's result between the number of digital files compared to the number of courses and the number of lecturers are each below 10%. In the future, the university still needs to encourage all lecturers or academic community to increase the collection of digital files that can indirectly improve the quality and educational services. © 2012 International Journal of Computer Science Issues.
