Microplastics in aquatic environment can possibly enter into the aquatic organism, so this study aims to identify the microplastic concentrations in water, sediment, and milkfish. The samples are taken in downstream Citarum river at Muara Gembong. Water samples were taken using a manta trawl pulled by a boat while sediment and milkfish samples were taken using the grab sampling method. Organic removal and cleaning was conducted by using the Fenton Oxidation method which use Fe and H2O2. The average of microplastic concentrations in river water, seawater ponds, mixed water, and seawater consecutively are 0.0574 ± 0.025 particles/m3, 3.000 ± 2.645 particles/L, 0.666 ± 0.577 particles/L and 1.333 ± 1.155 particles/L. The average of microplastic concentrations in sediment sea water pond, sediment mixed water pond and sea sediment samples consecutively are 3.666 ± 0.577 particles/20g, 2.667 ± 1.527 particles/20g, 2.333 ± 0.577 particles/20g and 0.667 ± 1.154 particle/20g. The average of microplastic concentrations in the gut and gills of milkfish in sea ponds and mixed ponds consecutively are 2.333 ± 2.266 particles/fish and 2.222 ± 3.768 particles/fish. The average of microplastic concentrations in milkfish tissues in the sea and mixed water ponds are 1.333 ± 1.000 particles/fish and 1.111 ± 1.167 particles/fish. © 2020 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

High-Fidelity Numerical Simulations of a Standing-Wave Thermoacoustic Engine

Thermoacoustic devices, in which heat fluxes and pressure waves are converted from one to the other, are a promising class of energy conversion, particularly as heat-driven heat pumps. However, accurate simulation and performance prediction of these devices is a major challenge on the path to better understanding and improved ***, 2D simulations of a high-amplitude standing wave thermoacoustic engine are reported, based on the high-fidelity software PyFR. The performed simulations are validated against both computational and experimental results reported in the literature, exhibiting a deviation of less than 9% between the calculated and experimentally measured pressure amplitude, more than twice as accurate as previously reported calculations. Further, non-linear effects in the thermoacoustic engine are explored and discussed, including Rayleigh streaming, jet streaming and, importantly, higher-order harmonics. The influence of these effects on engine performance is gauged, with higher-order harmonics shown to cause the greatest reduction in engine performance. Harmonics suppression is then demonstrated, via a simple example, to improve performance and, in the present context, greatly reduce the deviation between the linear and non-linear *** work demonstrates the utility of high-order CFD schemes for the analysis of thermoacoustics devices, providing useful insight on the importance of non-linear effects and highlighting the potential benefits of future work along similar lines © 2023, The Authors. Planck's constant experiment has been carried out to determine the value of Planck's constant using the regression analysis method. The steps are carried out using the scientific process outlined in the practical work steps. The specification of the experimental equipment uses the Planck constant experimental set with 12v/35w tungsten halogen light, 15v output, +-0.2% accuracy, 220V power requirement, 0.5A fuse rating and red, yellow 1, yellow 2, and red color filters, green and blue. Experiments using the concept of the photoelectric effect phenomenon began by irradiating metallic materials with light using a filter. The wavelength (635, 570, 540, 500, 460) nm is the light filter variation. The wavelength that hits the metal material is selected by placing a light filter on the light propagation path toward the metal material. So the light that passes through the filter is only light with a certain wavelength. After the metal material is irradiated by light with a certain wavelength, then the stopping potential voltage measurement is carried out on the metal material irradiated by light. From the variation of the light filter used, it is possible to calculate Planck's constant using the regression method with the value obtained 6.26x1034. This value is very close to the actual Planck's constant value which is 6.62x1034 so an error value is obtained 4.23%. With 95.77% accuracy, Planck's constant value obtained from the calculation using the linear regression method can be said to be very close to the actual Planck's constant value. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Carbonaceous and nitrogenous disinfection by-products potential formation and removal technologies from the water treatment process: A review

Not only at the water treatment process, disinfection is required for the inactivation of pathogen microorganisms in wastewater treatment before it is released to the waterbodies or for recycling purposes. During the disinfection process by chlorination, it found the formation of harmful disinfection by-products (DBPs). DBPs formed because of the reaction of inorganic and organic matter as precursors with chlorine/chloramine. The aim of this research is to analyze the potential formation of Carbonaceous Disinfection By-products (C-DBPs) as the most DBPs in the water and Nitrogenous Disinfection By-products (N-DBPs) as the most DBPs of the wastewater. Most DBPs have precursors from natural organic matter (NOM) and the effluent of sewage treatment contributes to increasing the DBPs precursor. The review method start with identifying DBPs precursor, potential formation of DBPs, factor affecting the formation DBPs, and finding the advanced technologies that are appropriate to remove DBPs and their precursors. It found that trihalomethanes (THMs) is the most widely found in water treatment such as chloroform, bromodichloromethane, and bromoform. N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) is one of N-DBPs that most presence in polluted water and also haloacetonitriles (HANs), haloacetamides (HAcAms), Nitrosoamine (NAs), cyanogen halides (CNX), halonitromethanes (HNMs), N-nitrosomethylethylamine (NMEA). The result shows that disinfection plays a role of formation DBPs in water and wastewater treatment. DBPs have potential health risks for the human body because they are genotoxic and carcinogenic. Physicochemical treatment can remove the precursor of DBPs and advanced treatment enhances the removal of DBPs.

Along with technological improvements, online shopping is currently developing quickly. Online shops started by selling electronics, clothing, food, and home appliances and continue to evolve, selling various things. Currently, digital marketing has a novel technique, namely live shopping, where sellers can present, promote and offer their products directly through live streaming on social media and e-commerce platforms. This research will focus on gaining insight into the factors influencing customers to watch and purchase through live streaming. This research is an early-stage study of exploring and searching for research models. The study used a literature review approach by reviewing similar previous research articles. Several variable components were used in this study. The findings of the factors include visibility capacity, meta-vocation capacity, purchase orientation capacity, social presence, price, perceived product quality, perceived enjoyment, purchase orientation, perceived usefulness, and intention to buy. These factors were tested and proved to be valid with Cronbach's Alpha value being more than 0.5 and reliable with the value of the loading factor a greater than 0.6. Criteria The factors of the findings for further analysis of the relationship between factors and other variables. © 2023 IEEE.

Air pollution in Thailand is regarded as a serious health threat, especially in the northern region. High levels of particulate matter (PM2.5and PM10) are strongly linked to severe health consequences and mortality. This study analyzed the relationship between exposure to ambient concentrations of PM2.5and PM10by using data from the Pollution Control Department of Thailand and the burden of disease due to an increase in the ambient particulate matter concentrations in northern Thailand. This study was conducted using the Life Cycle Assessment methodology considering the human health damage impact category in the ReCiPe 2016 method. The results revealed that the annual average years of life lived with disability from ambient PM2.5in northern Thailand is about 41,372 years, while from PM10it is about 59,064 years per 100,000 population. The number of deaths from lung cancer and cardiopulmonary diseases caused by PM2.5were approximately 0.04% and 0.06% of the population of northern Thailand, respectively. Deaths due to lung cancer and cardiopulmonary diseases caused by PM10, on the other hand, were approximately 0.06% and 0.08%, respectively. The findings expressed the actual severity of the impact of air pollution on human health. It can provide valuable insights for organizations in setting strategies to address air pollution. Organizations can build well-informed strategies and turn them into legal plans by exploiting the study’s findings. This ensures that their efforts to tackle air pollution are successful, in accordance with regulations, and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future guidelines on appropriate practices of air pollution act/policy linkage with climate change mitigation.

This study used multiple satellites equipped with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical sensors to estimate the phase speeds of internal solitary waves (ISWs) in the Lombok Strait. During the southeast monsoon period, ISW phase speeds in the Lombok Strait were observed using Sentinel-1/SAR, GCOM-C/SGLI, and Terra/MODIS sensors. It is assumed that ISW in the Lombok Strait arises from the interaction between the semidiurnal tides and the coarse bathymetry (sill) in the southern part of the strait. ISW phase speed using multi-satellite data is estimated by dividing the distance between the detected first crest patterns by the time difference between the two images recorded. This study examines multi-satellite data capacity to estimate the Lombok Strait propagation speed. Estimating ISW phase speed derived from multi-satellite images showed that the phase speed was slower when the ISW packet reached the Kangean Island area. The results correlated with the variation of bathymetry along the ISW propagation to the northern part of the strait. The multi-satellite observation data used in this study enhanced our understanding of the influence of bathymetry variation on the estimated phase speeds in the Lombok Strait. © 2023 ACRS. Acid mine drainage (AMD) contains a high concentration of various heavy metals and have low pH levels. In this study, the comparison between the use of natural zeolite and synthesized zeolite for Cu2+ removal in AMD was conducted. The adsorbent of natural zeolite was prepared through a chemical activating method by adding NaOH. While, synthesized zeolite was made from coal fly ash using a two-step method, fusion, and hydrothermal process. The AMD used in this study was artificially designed with the concentration of Cu2+ 100 ppm and pH ± 3. The adsorption experiment was carried out using a batch method to observe the influential parameters such as adsorbent dosage, contact time, adsorbent isotherms, and kinetics. The result show that the removal efficiency of Cu2+ for natural zeolite and synthesized zeolite was 98,16% and 93,98 % with optimum adsorbent dose 1,5 g/l and 21 g/l, respectively. The optimum contact time for both adsorbents was 120 minutes. The Langmuir isotherm model fitted the adsorption for synthesized zeolite and natural zeolite, with the maximum sorption capacity of 23,8 mg/g and 30,03 mg/g, and the kinetics model of pseudo-second-order and pseudo-first-order. The result of this study that the good adsorption effectivity synthesized zeolite. Furthermore, both natural zeolite and synthesized zeolite have great potential as a sustainable and economical material for heavy metal removal ion Cu2+ in wastewater. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study proposes a new approach, a communal-based domestic rainwater harvesting (CDRWH) system, which is a new model that combines domestic and communal rainwater harvesting systems. This model is an alternative solution to improve system performance and utilize rainwater overflow from the system. Rainwater runoff from several domestic tanks is channeled to a communal tank to be collected, processed, and redistributed to needy domestic tanks. Overflow from the communal tank is used for groundwater recharge. The CDRWH system model aims to increase water supply, reduce runoff, and conserve groundwater. The model simulation uses daily water balance analysis and yield before spillage algorithm. The simulation scenario uses variations in roof area, number of house occupants, storage tank volume, and rainfall categories: 20 years, wet year, normal year, and dry year. Jagakarsa, an urban area in South Jakarta, was selected for the CDRWH system modeling. The results showed that the CDRWH model significantly improved the performance of the volumetric reliability (VR) and time reliability (TR) systems. In addition, the model could show a comparison of total groundwater recharge (GWR) and groundwater extraction (GWE), where the GWR capacity was higher. This allows centralized rainwater management in communal tanks, thereby reducing groundwater usage. The design of this model is simple. Therefore it can be easily duplicated for application in other locations. © 2025 The Authors
