VeRO: Smart home assistant for blind with voice recognition

In daily life, people with visual impairment have difficulty in their activities, especially at home activities. People with visual impairment as of 2017 reached 1.5 percent or around 3.75 million people from the population of Indonesia and more than 253 million people worldwide. The number of blind people who are not small need help to get a good quality of life and independent. Friendly home design for the blind is not yet available specifically. It is a particular difficulty for blind people to access the latest electronic goods or information (news). Then this becomes the basis of this research on how to provide easy access for blind people. This research provides a solution that is designing a prototype of a house that is visually impaired in addition to the use of electronic equipment. This system starts from the microphone as a sensor in charge of picking up sound and then the results are processed by Android and then connected to NodeMCU via Wi-Fi. The microphone used is the default microphone of the Android smart phone. By using the speech recognition method, the command is enough to say the keywords, Android will manage the sound into a code that will be sent to the microcontroller to perform the task. There are several categories of commands that can be handled, including (a) Turning on / off electronic devices, (b) Providing news information from popular news web portals, (c) Entertainment by playing streaming radio and (d) General information on hours and dates. All planned functions are running properly, there are some features that might be developed further. Adding sensitivity to starting voice commands and adding the ability to read long stories can be further research.

Effective preprocessed thin blood smear images to improve malaria parasite detection using deep learning

Malaria can be difficult to detect from thin blood smears. Image recognition methods such as convolutional neural network can be used to detect malaria, but the training process takes a long time. Previous research created a new architecture and compares it to several other architectures such as VGG-16 and ResNet. The effect of preprocessing is analyzed in this research. VGG-16, ResNet, and the custom architecture created by the previous research are being used in this study. The preprocessing methods being analyzed in this research include gray-world normalization and comprehensive normalization. The highest accuracy improvement per epoch (0.5256% using ResNet-50 and 0.0352% using custom architecture) is achieved through gray-world normalization, that also improves final accuracy (90.1% using ResNet-50 and 93.1% using custom architecture) when compared to other methods with the same epochs for ResNet and custom architecture.

The application of technology in the world of education can affect the quality of students in understanding learning material because technology is one of the important elements to assist in the teaching and learning process. One educational application that can be developed is Augmented Reality (AR) technology. AR is one of the learning media that can be used to combine virtual objects or objects into a real environment with the virtual world to be able to interact in realtime. English is a foreign language that must be mastered. In learning English, students need to be given adequate vocabulary learning that can be provided through reading or listening activities. The importance of adequate vocabulary in English to support the smoothness of oral communication, where there are 2 things that inhibit the ineffectiveness of oral communication namely students do not have adequate vocabulary mastery and do not know how to use vocabulary in their spoken language. Effective and interactive learning media will facilitate students in learning vocabulary. This research an instructional media based on augmented reality vocabulary cards will be made for learning English vocabulary. Learning English vocabulary developed is a basic vocabulary consisting of object recognition and greeting. The learning media will display real objects and sounds, so that the object looks real and the ease of pronunciation of English consonants correctly.

Achievement of green campus indications based on assessment indicators on H-BAT program Universitas Negeri Semarang

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has a spirit to become a Conservation and International Reputation University is realized through strategic missions. One of the conservation-oriented implementation programs is H-BAT (Green, Clean and Healthy) program. In its implementation, there is a problem, namely the achievement of H-BAT program has not been maximized during the last 3 years in assessment. The objectives of this research are: (1) to identify of the potential and character of environmental support in the work units; (2) to determine the achievement of the indication of a green campus based on the assessment indicators on H-BAT program. This research was carried out in four stages: (1) Data collection; (2) Spatial data processing; (3) Non Spatial data processing; (4) Analysis (ecological, technical standards); The results achieved in June 2020 are as follows: FT got 87,50%, FE got 85,87%, FMIPA got 81,52%, BUHK got79,49%, FIP got 73,91%, LP3 got 69,23%, LP2M got 63,46%, FIS got 60,33%,PPS got 57,07%, FIK got 56,52%, FH got 52,72%, FBS got 49,46%, TIK got 40,38%, BPB got 34,62%, Library got 30,13%, Archive got 17,31%. From these results, it can be seen that there is a lack of maximum achievement due to, among others, the lack of guidance and technical assistance in the management of the unit. So it is necessary to complete governance guidelines and technical assistance that are more intensive in unit governance to achieve the goals of UNNES as a green campus.

This study aims to develop a product such as "Digital storytelling of Physics (DiS-Phy)" that can be used as a physics’ educational media for distance learning (PJJ) on magnetic field material. DiS-Phy developed as a digital storytelling media which is able to combine several learning media such as writing, pictures and learning videos in one medium. The developed DiS-Phy also equipped with scientific literacy questions. DiS-Phy can be accessed on all types of distance learning devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets that are connected to the internet. DiS-Phy including the type of research and development (Research & Development) which refers to the ASSURE model. The result of validation test shows the percentages of 91,07%, according to subject-matter expert, 93,16%, according to media expert and 87,50% according to learning expert. DiS-Phy also tested by 4 physics teachers at senior high school in Jakarta that achieved 92,57% points that make this product has been qualified as a worthy physics’ distance learning device. Also of 35 as respondents in this study shows the percentages of 87,48% points that make this product worthy to use as an educational media. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the DiS-Phy has been qualified as a worthy physics’ distance learning device for teachers and students. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. Efficiency analysis of a 150 Wp solar power system as a water pump electric power source

The 1970 – 1979 when a world energy crisis occurred and since then new and renewable energy has started to gain attention. Water and electricity are very important sources of life. Solar energy can be used to turn on a water pump through a solar power generation system as a water pump energy source. it is very important to know the level of efficiency of the PV module as a solar energy absorber that will produce current and voltage values. This solar power system will be equipped with 150 Wp PV, SCC, Battery, Inverter and also a 125 watt Pump. To determine the efficiency level of PV as a water pump power system, observations and measurements carried out for data collection for one day. The measurement shows that the highest voltage at 15:00 WIB 20.85 Voc with a temperature of 34.95°C with a current of 4.80 Isc when solar radiation is 560 W/m^2 and produces a power of 100.08 watts with an input power of 563 watts and an efficiency value of 17%. While the lowest voltage at 12:00 WIB 18.60 Voc when the temperature 41.16 °C and the current generated 6.90 Isc with solar radiation of 1013 W/m^2 and the power generated 128.34 watts with an input power of 1019 watts and the resulting efficiency 12%. Temperature is the main factor in the voltage generated, while solar radiation will affect the current output to be generated by PV. Incoming and outgoing power will determine the efficiency of the PV system as a water pump power source.

Fuzzy Logic used as an act to describe problem from input into expected output. One part of Fuzzy logic is Fuzzy multiple attribute decision making in deciding weighted alternative Score and importance criteria rating meanwhile Weighted product method is to evaluate so in deciding employee performance by multiplying to correlate with attribute rating, rating for each attribute must be powered by number with related weighted attribute and that process is same with normalization process. The result of implementation of Multiple Attribute Decision Making (FMADM) by using Weighted Product (WP) Algorithm in valuating employee performance which conducted once a year which obtained from performance valuation of system valuation at CV. A pointing device is one of the important interfaces between human and computer. A mouse is usually used as a pointing device;however, people with physical impairments who can not use a mouse due to its operation should use a table. One candidate for solving this problem is using an upper-arm movement combined with an inertial measurement unit sensor. The upper-arm gestures would be mapped and used to manipulate the mouse cursor on the monitor display. The 'clicking' action will be accomplished using a bending sensor attached on the opposite upper-arm. This study evaluates the combination of the IMU and bend sensor (IMU+Bend) as a substitute for the mouse. The evaluation is based on ISO/TS 9241-411: Ergonomics of human-system standard. The results mentioned that the use of IMU is a promising way to emulate the movement of cursor. However, the usage of bend sensor is uncomfortable when it is used as a clicking method. The throughput of the proposed is 1.75 bps, and qualitative results show that the mean of comfort is 4.85 on a Likert scale ranged from 1 to 7. © 2019 IEEE.

Majors systems in an educational institution both at the primary level and higher education are the main thing. The academic potential of students becomes one of the main factors in supporting the success of learning. Even in an admission system, entrance test cannot be separated from the potential academic test. The academic potential test is only used as a standard of acceptance, and very rarely even never used to be information that can classify students into a specialization. Analysis of potential academic data with various variables will be very much so that required Data Mining techniques to mining of the larger data. The purpose of this research is to implement of Data Mining technique with classification approach to analyze academic potency in the major supports system management. The classification technique is applied as the object of research and measured its performance to obtain information according to the needs and objectives of the study. The results showed that the implementation of classification techniques could provide information that indicates the academic potential in major support system management, so this research can be a reference to create a system of potential academic search in general and can be implemented as an applicable tool in major support system management. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The development of information and communication technology, especially the internet provides opportunities to improve the ability of lecturers to deliver courses to students without being limited by distance and time. This can be done by utilizing e-learning which will accelerate the transfer of knowledge and skills. E-learning is distance education that utilizes various digital tools and platforms. These tools and platform are used to support interaction, lectures and delivery of instructions between lecturers and students. This study will discuss the use of work system methods and the use of e-learning technology in a business entity. The work system methods are used to design information systems. Meanwhile e-learning technology in a business entity serves lecturers and students, conduct lectures at private universities in increasing knowledge dissemination, educational affordability and the use of technology and information as its support. The result of this research is the works system method model which refers to the analysis of data from the internet accessibility survey of students, analysis of its components, the system development cycle, the revision of the vision, mission and resources in private universities and recommendations of opportunities for the development of higher quality e-learning implementation.
