This paper presents a generic service interfacing approach which enables the interoperability of networked devices and the reusability of services. Services are specified through a set of interfaces which are language and deployment platform independent. External service orchestration is applied to separate control from service functionalities which increases the flexibility of achieving applications through service composition. The system is validated through a mapping onto WSDL, dynamically building a 3D video viewing system. ©2010 IEEE.

Due to advancements in lighting technologies new opportunities for application emerge. In this paper an interdisciplinary study towards the development of adaptive lighting environments is presented. An implementation of an adaptive lighting environment is made in the domain of office work. For evaluation, experts from the domains of human-system interaction, activity and context recognition, and system architecture design are interviewed. Contributions are made with regard to the implementation of the adaptive lighting in office environments and an evaluation method that is in line with the interdisciplinary approach. From the evaluation method insights in the fields of human-computer interaction, activity and context recognition and system architecture and (wireless) networking and in topics that span across these fields are gained.

To analyze model of Web services composition, firstly analyze and abstract dataflow and control construct in OWL-S process to build high level Petri net model, then describe Petri net in Poses++ language, at last simulate Petri net with Poses++ to check data type and deadlock and calculate service performance. The experiment shows that this model analyzing method is able to accomplish type checking and deadlock and performance analyzing.

Existing Web services composition technology, lack of services selecting. A particle swarm optimization algorithm based on the multi-objective optimization strategies was provided to address quality of services to choose the issue of global optimization. It is to transform Web services select the overall optimization problem with QoS into a multi-objective constrained optimization problem based on Qos, using multi-objective PSO intelligent theory, by a number of Qos parameters optimized at the same time, and ultimately produce a set of constraints to meet the Pareto optimal solution. The experimental results show the feasibility and efficiency of the algorithm.

Verification Web Services Composition Based on OWL-S

In order to ensure the correctness and reliability of Web services composition based on OWL-S, verify the interaction protocol of Web services. It is provided that three lay architecture. Composition service based on OWL-S, GA model is the middle model and the Promela model is the verification model, SPIN as a model validator. The OWL-S composition Web services transform a top-down conversation protocol process into a GA model, use WAST tool into Promela model, the SPIN tool analysis and verification structure and performance of composition services. This method is flexibility and scalability which provide a solution for Web services composition model verification.

Convergence of the emerging IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) includes unlicensed, nondedicated and nondeterministic, hence uncontrollable, computer access networks for IP multimedia services. It enables provision of resource demanding real-time services and multimedia communication raising new end-to-end Quality-of-Service (QoS) challenges, for which quality adaptation using resource management is proposed as a solution in this paper. This is an integrated solution taking both IMS and computer access networks into account as well as the two end-devices and the application servers (AS) involved in communication. The best user experience is targeted under real-time variation of available network (e.g. bandwidth, buffer space) and end-device (e.g. battery, CPU, memory, storage) resources throughout a session. The multimedia content is dynamically adapted to fit the resource availability variations, achieving maximum system (i.e. network and end-devices) resource utilization and enhanced QoS. The resource availability update signalling is carried over Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) during the session. This is work in progress. © 2007 IEEE.

Dependability requirements such as safety and availability often conflict with one another making the development of dependable systems challenging. It is not always possible to design a system that fulfils all of its dependability requirements and consequently, it is necessary to identify conflicts early in the development process and to optimize the architectural design with regard to dependability and cost. This paper first provides an overview of fifteen different approaches to optimizing system designs at an architectural level. Then an abstract method is proposed that synthesises the main points of the different approaches to yield a generic approach that could be applied across a wide variety of different system attributes. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

It is well known that space and time complexity is one of the main bottlenecks of supervisor synthesis. The model of a large system is usually too big to be explicitly expressed, owing to composition of local components' models, making supervisor synthesis difficult, if still possible. In this paper, we propose a distributed supervisor synthesis approach, where instead of computing a model of the entire system, a local abstraction of the system with respect to each local component is computed based on weak bisimulation. Then a local supervisor for each component is computed based on the component model and the abstract system model, by using well developed centralized supervisor synthesis approaches. The guaranty of meeting the timing constraints during the design phase of real-time component-based embedded software has not been realized. To satisfy real-time requirements, we need to understand behaviour and resource usage of a system over time. In this paper, we address both aspects in detail by observing the influence of input data on the system behaviour and performance. We extend an existing scenario simulation approach that features the modelling of input parameter dependencies and simulating the execution of the models. The approach enables specification of the dependencies in the component models, as well as initialisation of the parameters in the application scenario model. This gives a component-based application designer an explorative possibility of going through all possible execution scenarios with different parameter initialisations, and finding the worst-case scenarios where the predicted performance does not satisfy the requirements. The identification of these scenarios is important because it avoids system redesign at the later stage. In addition, the conditional behaviour and resource usage modelling with respect to the input data provide more accurate prediction.
