To evaluate Q–Δ resonance, which is a torsional resonance phenomenon caused by geometric non-linearity, we proposed a simplified model for an n-story non-eccentric building model with a shear-type structure. We designed and fabricated a four-story small-scale specimen assuming a non-eccentric steel structure with a height of 324 m, and conducted shaking table tests. As a result, the occurrence of Q–Δ resonance was confirmed as predicted by the simplified model. In addition, the simplified model reproduced the resonance amplitude in a finite element model of the specimen with the out-of-plane rotation of slabs constrained and its validity was confirmed. © 2023 Authors. Bi_(2)O_(2)CO_(3)(BOC)/Bi_(4)O_5Br_(2)(BOB)/reduced graphene oxide(rGO)Z-scheme heterojunction with promising photocatalytic properties was synthesized via a facile one-pot room-temperature ***-thin nanosheets of BOC and BOB were grown in situ on r *** formed 2D/2D direct Z-scheme heterojunction of BOC/BOB with oxygen vacancies(OVs)effectively leads to lower negative electron reduction potential of BOB as well as higher positive hole oxidation potential of BOC,showing improved reduction/oxidation ***,rGO is an acceptor of the electrons from the conduction band of *** dual roles significantly improve the transfer performance of photo-induced charge carriers and accelerate their *** layered nanosheet structure,rich OVs,high specific surface area,and increased utilization efficiency of visible light,the multiple synergistic effects of BOC/BOB/rGO can achieve effective generation and separation of the electron-holes,thereby generating more·O_(2)^(-)and h^(+).The photocatalytic reduction efficiency of CO_(2)to CO(12.91μmol/(g·hr))is three times higher than that of BOC(4.18μmol/(g·hr)).Moreover,it also achieved almost 100%removal of Rhodamine B and cyanobacterial cells within 2 hours.

Recent studies have explored the integration of large language models (LLMs) into caregiving robots. The use of LLMs facilitates the generation of human-like natural dialogues and diverse, varied expressions. However, in case of a lack of direct and specific instructions from a user, gaining an accurate understanding of the user's intent is challenging, which may result in miscommunication. Thus, this study proposed a method to achieve robust communication even in the absence of direct instructions by considering the uncertainty in destination prediction probabilities. The proposed system leveraged GPT-4 to generate various Japanese speech content candidates and employed neighborhood components analysis to facilitate dimensionality reduction. Consequently, notable features of the rich linguistic embeddings were preserved while transforming them into manageable data. The system selected appropriate utterances based on the destination prediction probabilities. Furthermore, this study investigated changes in the speech content according to the variations in these probabilities, and the incorporation of uncertainty in communication was validated. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In a limited space, such as pressurized rovers, insufficient personal space is a source of stress for astronauts. The aim of this study is to mitigate effects caused by personal space invasions. The proposed system for that problem is using a spotlight system that automatically adjusts based on vital sign feedback. In this study, experiments with human subjects to test the effects of spotlight exposure are conducted. Specifically, respiration signal was measured to investigate the relationship between respiration, distance and the spotlight in a limited space. The results suggest that changes in respiration may reflect the effects of spatial distance, suggesting that respiration may serve as an indicator of personal spatial discomfort. Furthermore, the usefulness of spotlight lighting in confined spaces was demonstrated through its effects on breathing, demonstrating its potential to enhance comfort by adjusting lighting based on vital sign. © 2025, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. Agriculture emerges as a prominent contributor to CH4and N2O emissions in ***,estimates of these two non-CO2greenhouse gases（GHGs） remain poorly constrained,hindering a precise understanding of their spatio temporal dynamics and the development of effective mitigation ***,we established a consistent estimation framework that integrates emission-factor approach,data-driven models and process-based biogeo chemical models,to identify the magnitudes,spatial variations,and long-term trends of agricultural non-CO2GHG emissions in China's mainland from 1980 to *** the study period,the average total agricultural non-CO2GHG emissions amounted to 722.5±102.3 Tg CO2-eq yr-1,with livestock CH4,cropland CH4,cropland N2O and livestock N2O contributing 41%(297.4±64.3 Tg CO2-eqyr-1),31%(225.0±69.6 Tg CO2-eqyr-1),18%(130.6±9.4Tg CO2-eqyr-1) and 10%(69.4±20.2 Tg CO2-eq yr-1),*** 70% of these emissions were concentrated in the eastern region beyond the Hu Line,with emission hotspots identified in South-central China,East China,and the Sichuan *** analysis revealed three distinct temporal stages of total emissions during the study period:rapid growth（1980-late 1990s）,slow growth（late1990s-middle 2010s）,and a stabilization stage（since the middle 2010s）.These stages reflect the evolving trajectory of agriculture in China,from the expansion of agricultural yields,to the transformation of agricultural practices,and ultimately the pursuit of sustainable ***,the temporal trajectory of emissions varied significantly across different regions,highlighting divergent levels of agricultural *** study presents a comprehensive,gridded,and consistent estimate of agricultural non-CO2GHG emissions in China,offering valuable insights for policymakers to develop tailored strategies that adapt to local conditions,enabling effective emission reduction measures.

Reinforcement learning(RL) has roots in dynamic programming and it is called adaptive/approximate dynamic programming(ADP) within the control community. This paper reviews recent developments in ADP along with RL and its applications to various advanced control fields. First, the background of the development of ADP is described, emphasizing the significance of regulation and tracking control problems. Some effective offline and online algorithms for ADP/adaptive critic control are displayed, where the main results towards discrete-time systems and continuous-time systems are surveyed, ***, the research progress on adaptive critic control based on the event-triggered framework and under uncertain environment is discussed, respectively, where event-based design, robust stabilization, and game design are reviewed. Moreover, the extensions of ADP for addressing control problems under complex environment attract enormous attention. The ADP architecture is revisited under the perspective of data-driven and RL frameworks,showing how they promote ADP formulation ***, several typical control applications with respect to RL and ADP are summarized, particularly in the fields of wastewater treatment processes and power systems, followed by some general prospects for future research. Overall, the comprehensive survey on ADP and RL for advanced control applications has d emonstrated its remarkable potential within the artificial intelligence era. In addition, it also plays a vital role in promoting environmental protection and industrial intelligence.

The global steel industry is integral to the development of modern infrastructure, yet it stands as one of the most significant contributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. This dichotomy brings forth the imperative for an in-depth analysis of GHG inventory practices and the pursuit of sustainable production methods. This mini-review paper addresses the current methodologies for GHG accounting within the steel sector, emphasizing the critical role of accurate and transparent emissions data as the basis for effective climate change mitigation strategies. Evaluating the prevalent carbon-intensive blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace (BF-BOF) production route, this paper contrasts traditional practices with innovative reduction initiatives, particularly those aligned with the emergence of green steel. We delve into the advancements in electric arc furnace (EAF) technology, direct reduced iron (DRI) processes utilizing green hydrogen, and the potential of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) systems. The analysis extends to a critical examination of the challenges and opportunities these technologies face, including economic viability, scalability, and the readiness of energy infrastructure to support such a transition. Further, this review highlights the significance of verification and validation in reinforcing the credibility of GHG inventories. We scrutinize the materiality of reported emissions in the context of evolving regulatory frameworks and stakeholder expectations, stressing the need for standardized and rigorous assurance practices. Grinding preparation of 2D/2D g-C3N4/BiOCl with oxygen vacancy heterostructure for improved visible-light-driven photocatalysis

A novel 2D/2D g-C3N4/BiOCl (CN/BOC) heterojunction photocatalyst was synthesized by grinding appropriate amounts of CN, Bi(NO3)3·5H2O, glacial acetic acid and KCl at room temperature. The porous CN nanosheets not only facilitate the in situ nucleation and growth of BOC to form thin nanosheets and constitute an intimate contact interface, but also introduce more oxygen vacancies (OVs) in the grinding process. The 2D/2D CN/BOC heterojunction had a good interface and generates a built-in electric field, which can improve the separation of e− and h+. The synergistic effect of the heterostructure and OVs made the photocatalyst have significantly better performance than CN and BOC alone under visible light. The most efficient CN/BOC-5 could achieve a tetracycline (TC) degradation rate of 89.8% within 2 h, which was 1.9 and 1.2 times faster than CN and BOC, respectively. It catalyzed the reduction of CO2 to CO at a rate of 2.00 μ mol h−1 g−1, 1.1 and 3.2 times faster than CN and BOC, respectively. The mechanism for the photocatalysis of CN/BOC-5 was revealed. It was confirmed that the efficiency of photo-induced carrier separation and visible-light photo-absorption were both considerably increased by the synergistic interaction between OVs and 2D/2D heterojunction. This research may open up new possibilities for the logical design of efficient photocatalysts through combining 2D/2D heterojunctions with OVs for environmental remediation. The expeditious progress of information technology has encouraged the digital enhancement of the educational sector. To remedy the issues of the traditional teaching mode, a blended teaching mode of engineering drawing course has been developed with the use of smart education technology. Based on the Outcomes-based Education ( OBE ), the teaching objectives and teaching contents of the course are reconstructed by using the method of reverse design and forward implementation. By leveraging the synergy of online and offline, virtual and real, and quantitative and qualitative evaluation, a blended teaching approach that is both student-centered and teacher-guided is realized. A course knowledge graph has been built, offering fresh concepts for accomplishing personalized learning for students. The teaching practice shows that the blended teaching mode based on intelligent education has created a multi-dimensional autonomous learning space and personalized learning path for students, which effectively improves the enthusiasm and initiative of students to participate in teaching activities, and also improves the information level of teaching process and management, and promotes the organic integration of teaching and learning. © 2024 ACM.

Net-based debris capture is one of the countermeasures against space debris. This paper considers the system which consists of flexible net with actuators attached to the corner nodes to release multiple debris into transitioned orbit. The debris releasing from a net system is assumed, and the net-debris composite system is attributed to nonlinear programming. The nonlinear dynamics of net’s flexibility and contact between the net and the debris are explicitly considered so that the debris can realize the target speed and angle of velocity, and the optimized control input history of the net system actuators is derived accordingly.
