Existing data-dependent hashing methods use large backbone networks with millions of parameters and are computationally complex. Existing knowledge distillation methods use logits and other features of the deep (teacher) model and as knowledge for the compact (student) model, which requires the teacher’s network to be fine-tuned on the context in parallel with the student model on the context. Training teacher on the target context requires more time and computational resources. In this paper, we propose context unaware knowledge distillation that uses the knowledge of the teacher model without fine-tuning it on the target context. We also propose a new efficient student model architecture for knowledge distillation. The proposed approach follows a two-step process. The first step involves pre-training the student model with the help of context unaware knowledge distillation from the teacher model. The second step involves fine-tuning the student model on the context of image retrieval. In order to show the efficacy of the proposed approach, we compare the retrieval results, no. of parameters, and no. of operations of the student models with the teacher models under different retrieval frameworks, including deep cauchy hashing (DCH) and central similarity quantization (CSQ). The experimental results confirm that the proposed approach provides a promising trade-off between the retrieval results and efficiency. Collaborative Service Provisioning for UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing(MEC), as a way of coping with delaysensitive and computing-intensive tasks, is considered to be a key technology to solving the challenges of terrestrial MEC networks. In this work, we study the problem of collaborative service provisioning(CSP) for UAV-assisted MEC. Specifically, taking into account the task latency and other resource constraints, this paper investigates how to minimize the total energy consumption of all terrestrial user equipments, by jointly optimizing computing resource allocation, task offloading, UAV trajectory, and service placement. The CSP problem is a non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming problem, owing to the complex coupling of mixed integral variables and non-convexity of CSP. To address the CSP problem, this paper proposes an alternating optimization-based solution with the convergence guarantee as follows. We iteratively deal with the joint service placement and task offloading subproblem, and UAV movement trajectory subproblem, by branch and bound and successive convex approximation, respectively,while the closed form of the optimal computation resource allocation can be efficiently obtained. Extensive simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to three baselines.

Keeping track of time is regarded as an essential human behavior. The question of how the brain deals with temporal information remains a subject of scholarly debate. The current investigation aims to explore the mechanism underlying time perception by extracting fractal dimension from an electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and its frequency bands. To accomplish this, Higuchi’s fractal dimension was calculated for 42 healthy subjects’ electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and its sub-bands during the time perception task. The EEG signal was recorded from 19 channels. Subsequently, a statistical analysis was conducted to compare participants who underestimated versus those who overestimated the elapsed time and significantly different channels were presented. The findings suggest an elevated level of fractal dimensionality in persons who displayed a tendency to overestimate time. The EEG signal and Gamma rhythm emerged as the most distinguishing signals between the two cohorts. The contrast in fractal dimension between the two groups was predominantly apparent in the parietal and central channels. To summarize, an increased level of complexity is discernible in the EEG signal and high-frequency rhythms when there is an overestimation of temporal duration. It can be asserted that the employment of FD yields presents an exceptional approach to comprehending cerebral functionalities, notably temporal perception. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

SCSegamba: Lightweight Structure-Aware vision Mamba for Crack Segmentation in Structures

Pixel-level segmentation of structural cracks across various scenarios remains a considerable challenge. Current methods encounter challenges in effectively modeling crack morphology and texture, facing challenges in balancing segmentation quality with low computational resource usage. To overcome these limitations, we propose a lightweight Structure-Aware vision Mamba Network (SCSegamba), capable of generating high-quality pixel-level segmentation maps by leveraging both the morphological information and texture cues of crack pixels with minimal computational cost. Specifically, we developed a Structure-Aware Visual State Space module (SAVSS), which incorporates a lightweight Gated Bottleneck Convolution (GBC) and a Structure-Aware Scanning Strategy (SASS). The key insight of GBC lies in its effectiveness in modeling the morphological information of cracks, while the SASS enhances the perception of crack topology and texture by strengthening the continuity of semantic information between crack pixels. Experiments on crack benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods, achieving the highest performance with only 2.8M parameters. On the multi-scenario dataset, our method reached 0.8390 in F1 score and 0.8479 in mIoU. The code is available at https://***/Karl1109/SCSegamba. © 2025, CC BY.

Generation-based linguistic steganography is a popular research area of information *** text generative steganographic method based on conditional probability coding is the direction that researchers have recently paid attention ***,in the course of our experiment,we found that the secret information hiding in the text tends to destroy the statistical distribution characteristics of the original text,which indicates that this method has the problem of the obvious reduction of text quality when the embedding rate increases,and that the topic of generated texts is uncontrollable,so there is still room for improvement in *** this paper,we propose a topic-controlled steganography method which is guided by graph-to-text *** proposed model can automatically generate steganographic texts carrying secret messages from knowledge graphs,and the topic of the generated texts is *** also provide a graph path coding method with corresponding detailed algorithms for graph-to-text *** from traditional linguistic steganography methods,we encode the secret information during graph path coding rather than using conditional *** test our method in different aspects and compare it with other text generative steganographic *** experimental results show that the model proposed in this paper can effectively improve the quality of the generated text and significantly improve the concealment of steganographic text.
