Fuel economy is an important issue in the modern automotive industry. So fuel economy technologies are a research emphasis. Improving engine efficiency as a core of fuel saving technologies is under extensive study. Idle speed is the minimum operating speed of a combustion engine. The period of the idling operation occupies thirty percent of driving time for. urban traffic. Therefore significant fuel economy and emissions improvements can be gained by lowering the idle speed of an engine. In order to achieve a lower idle speed it is necessary to maintain a stable idle speed in the presence of known disturbances (e.g. air conditioning) and unknown disturbances. In this paper, idling speed was studied based on a four-cylinder gasoline engine model by three kinds of robust control methods, or PID control, Smith predictor and sliding mode control. A sliding mode controller was proposed, and accordingly a speed sliding surface was designed From the result of simulation, it was confirmed that control performance with load disturbance could be improved.

A novel viscous micropump consisting of a cylindrical rotor eccentrically placed inside a microchannel is simulated by the two Volume-CAD(V-CAD)framework-based flow solvers,i.e.,the direct simulation Monte Carlo(DSMC)package(named as V-DSMC)and the Navier-Stoke solver(named as V-Flow).V-DSMC is used in the case of the pump applied to gas,while V-Flow is applied to model the pump in the case of liquid working *** pumping performance curves under different liquid media with the variation of Reynolds number,as well as under different eccentricity factors are *** performance and the flow filed characteristics are very sensitive to the tangential momentum accommodation coefficient in the case of gas *** recirculations exist in the flow field,and the sizes of recirculation are different at the different operating points in a performance curve.

Business processes are the collections of activities which produce some specific service for organizations. A lot of services are produced in the organization, making them difficult to document. Information systems were built to perform the business processes and produce event logs as the documented business processes. The event log will be analyzed using process discovery technique to mine the process model by implementing some well-known algorithms such as Alpha Miner in deterministic algorithms and Heuristics Miner in heuristic algorithms. All of the algorithms have their own excellence and limitations in analyzing and discovering the event log into process models. Modified Time-based Heuristics Miner is the latest improvement of Heuristics Miner algorithm which can be mined the process model and define sequential and parallel (AND, OR, and XOR) relation. Comparing to the original, Heuristics Miner algorithm, is only able to discover sequential and parallel (AND and XOR) relation. To know the differences between original Heuristics Miner and Modified Time-based Heuristics Miner including the process model and its relations, the evaluation using conformance checking consist of fitness, precision, simplicity, and generalization was done in this research. This paper will be focused on the results of evaluation in conformance checking from both of the algorithms. The results presented that the conformance checking of Modified Time-based Heuristics Miner was higher than that of the original Heuristics Miner algorithm in those four criteria. © 2019 IEEE.

One of games used as educational media is in hajj learning since Indonesia is well known as a country with the biggest hajj pilgrims every year. This research developes a HajjGame that provides a series of phase of the Hajj. HajjGame is adapted from the role playing game (RPG). RPG is a game genre with the story flows using agents as individual characters representative players equipped by certain tools, action/skill and ability to manage resources also ability to complete a special mission. One of the units of agent achievement in the RPG is experience point (XP) that is usually given after defeating enemies, collecting resources, or completing a challenge. So, the statistical ability for agents will increase, such as the status of health or adding new skills. Goal of this research is to measure the player achievement score combine with the educational credit based on Hajj phase. Player will get a credit accumulation/points after completing a task of learning. In this case, the task of learning is Hajj manasik that divide into 6 stages: Ihrom, Mabit in Mina, 'Arafah, Muzdalifah, throw Jamarat, Thawaf in Masjidil Haram and Sai. Each stage of Hajj will have detail actions that must be passed by an agent and will have educational credit (EC) points. Result from this research shows that a combination of XP and educational-credit on increasing learning and scoring as player's achievement. The challenge for the players will still available and the ability to understand the phase of the Hajj will be obtained. © 2010 IEEE.

Therefore, it is necessary to have a simulation application that helps the calculation of credit performance of Tridharma activities in accordance with the BKD rubric. The lecturer workload simulation application can help lecturers to calculate credits for the Tridharma activities that have been carried out. In this paper the characterization of the space-time spectral characteristics of tropical rainfall fields are studied directly from measurements from ground sensors and by using three stochastic models. The characterization of the spatial-temporal spectra is important for the design of satellite missions and to determine the bias in ground truth experiments. To carry out the latter a scheme is used to compare contemporaneous measurements of rain rate from a single-field-of-view estimate, based on a satellite remote sensor such as a microwave radiometer, with those coming from a point raingauge. Using this scheme the errors are computed for several observed rainfall fields, either from the data estimated spectra or from analytically derived and characterized ground measurements. This quantification provides a lower bound to total errors, since perfect instruments are assumed in this work, and it helps in terms of isolating and evaluating typical biases that might be contaminating retrieval algorithms.

The conversion of CO₂ into formic acid (HCOOH) is vital due to rising atmospheric CO₂ levels and the high market value of HCOOH among CO₂ utilization products. A photocatalytic technology offers a promising method for this transformation using sustainable energy. However, the lack of the exact mechanism of CO₂ reduction into HCOOH using heterogeneous catalyst and light energy remains unclear. Therefore, this study explores the reaction pathways validated with experimental data and density functional theory (DFT) calculation. Based on the experiment, ZnO semiconductor catalysts achieved the highest formic acid production, with a concentration of 345.44 µmol/L·g_cat after 4 hours of operation at a gas flow rate of 800 mL/min. Among the four proposed mechanisms, CO₂ photoreduction to HCOOH follows the Eley-Rideal adsorption mechanism, where only reactant of 2H⁺ undergoes chemisorption, while CO₂ remains physisorbed. Additionally, HCOOH exhibits strong adsorption on ZnO surface, as confirmed by experimental data and adsorption energy calculations. DFT calculations using CRYSTAL14 and the B3LYP method support this finding. The weak physisorption energy (less than 0.5 eV) allows CO₂ to undergo direct reactions on the catalyst surface. This study elucidates the role of each component in enhancing CO₂ photoreduction to HCOOH and provides a foundation for further research on CO₂ utilization. © 2025

DETERMINATION OF FIBER-MATRIX INTERPHASE MODULI FROM EXPERIMENTAL MODULI OF COMPOSITES WITH MULTILAYERED FIBERS

In this paper we report a method for inverse determination of effective elastic moduli of fiber-matrix interphases from experimentally measured composite moduli. Multi-phase micromechanical models and simplified spring approximations are used for inversion. An analytical expression for the transverse shear modulus of a composite with multi-layered fibers is derived using a multi-phase generalized self-consistent (MGSC) model, which forms the theoretical basis for inversion. This method has been used to determine the moduli of fiber-matrix interphases in ceramic and intermetallic matrix composites with similar SiC fibers and carbon fiber coating using the composite moduli measured ultrasonically. We find that the calculated moduli of interphasial carbon in the intermetallic matrix composite, after considering differences in microstructure, are very close to those available in the literature. The interphasial moduli obtained for the ceramic matrix composite are smaller than those published. We have found that this difference can be well explained by considering imperfect contact between the interphasial carbon and the matrix due to excessive matrix porosity at the interfacial region. Special emphasis is placed on error propagation in the inversion process and interpretation of experimental results. The results show that the interphasial moduli in intermetallic matrix composites are more sensitive to measurement error than those in ceramic matrix composites due to higher interphase-to-matrix stiffness ratio in intermetallic matrix composites. For both types of composites the calculated interphasial moduli are most sensitive to error in measurements of composite and matrix moduli and less sensitive to error in fiber moduli.

Generalized self-consistent model for composites with functionally graded and multilayered interphases. Transfer matrix approach

This paper reports calculations for the transverse shear moduli of fiber and particulate composites with interphases having nonhomogeneous elastic properties in the radial direction. A multiphase generalized self-consistent (MGSC) model is applied for composites with multi-layered fiber-matrix interphases using the transfer matrix method, In this model a transfer matrix is defined for each intermediate layer between an inclusion and the unknown effective medium and a total transfer matrix is derived to relate the elastic field in the inclusion to that in the effective medium. In this form the solution for an arbitrary number of interphasial layers resembles the simplicity of the GSC solution for a two-phase composite. To determine the transverse shear modulus of the composite with continuously varied interphases in the radial direction, a transfer matrix for the inhomogeneous interphase is found using the solution of the governing differential equation of the elastic field. An approximation to the transfer matrix is obtained for a thin functionally-graded interphase. Also the spring approximation is considered. The approximate results for the transverse shear modulus are compared with those for the functionally-graded interphase discretized into multilayered homogeneous interphasial layers when the MGSC model can be used directly. The effect of the inhomogeneous interphase on the composite transverse modulus is illustrated by numerical examples.

Many factories want to automate production processes to reduce production costs. This research aims to find the causes of problems and waste in production. To improve the polymerization method of latex adhesive production process by focusing on reducing wastage caused by waste moving unnecessary things unnecessary movement and waste from the process by using questioning techniques Why-why analysis and Cause and effect diagram to find the cause of the defect. Once the cause has been identified, start with Lean Manufacturing activities to design steps to improve the production process to make the production process more efficient and flow continuously. Subsequently, automation technology was applied to create an automated, lean manufacturing process. After the improvement from the total production of 24 batches, no production waste problems were found. Furthermore, the production time was reduced from 15 hours to 12 hours and 15 minutes, or 18.33 percent of the time reduction. 1,531.25 baht per production cycle reduced the labor costs © 2022 IEEE.
