Some offshore wind turbines might be constructed in seismically active regions, the impact of earthquake loading on design and operation of offshore wind turbines has to be taken into consideration. Site-specific environmental conditions such as earthquake and soil are crucial for the performance and structural integrity of offshore wind turbines. This work is to present dynamic load analyses for the NREL 5MW reference offshore wind turbine with monopile support structure subjected to earthquake loadings. The horizontal earthquake loadings are applied to the reference offshore wind turbine at different operation conditions. The FAST code is chosen as the analysis tool and is further recompiled to study the earthquake and soil effects. The computed results show the importance of flexibility of support structure bottom on the optimization of offshore wind turbine and support structure design. The dynamic load analyses performed in this study will provide the insights into the local offshore wind turbine and support structure design. © Copyright 2016 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).

Outdoor testing of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules must be carried out at different climates as PV power plants nowadays are installed and continues to be installed in many countries. Present study is outdoor testing results and analyses of 5 thin film modules in Ankara, Turkey. The analyses are carried out using monthly efficiencies of the modules that are derived using the energy yield and input. The average efficiencies of the CIS, CIGS and μc-Si/a-Si thin film modules are. We present the monthly and average efficiencies and discuss their variations with the parameter: input, ambient temperature and relative humidity. We also carried out seasonal analyses using Pearson's correlation coefficient and find out that the efficiencies are differently dependent on the above mentioned parameters. This arose a new open question on differentiation of the strength of the effect of each parameter on the monthly efficiencies. © 2017 IEEE.

Three long straight sections with double-mini beta-y lattice were created in the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS) for which the effects of focusing elements and phase shifters between the collinear undulators result in incorrect calculations of the brilliance while assuming a Gaussian-approximation. Therefore, an on-axis Wigner distribution function (WDF), which includes effects of wave phenomena, is a natural way to measure the intensity of synchrotron radiation and is used in this article as the definition of brilliance. © 2017 CC-BY-3.0 and by the respective authors

Decades of work have elucidated cytokine signalling and transcriptional pathways that control T cell differentiation and have led the way to targeted biologic therapies that are effective in a range of autoimmune,allergic and inflammatory *** evidence indicates that obesity and metabolic disease can also influence the immune system1-7,although the mechanisms and effects on immunotherapy outcomes remain largely ***,using two models of atopic dermatitis,we show that lean and obese mice mount markedly different immune *** converted the classical type 2 T helper(TH2)-predominant disease associated with atopic dermatitis to a more severe disease with prominent TH17 *** also observed divergent responses to biologic therapies targeting TH2 cytokines,which robustly protected lean mice but exacerbated disease in obese ***-cell RNA sequencing coupled with genome-wide binding analyses revealed decreased activity of nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ(PPARγ)in TH2 cells from obese mice relative to lean mice.

Identification of rice supply chain risk to DKI Jakarta through Cipinang primary rice market

This paper identifies several sources of risks in DKI Jakarta rice supply chain that through Cipinang Primary Rice Market (CPRM). Secondary data from several sources were collected and analysed using pareto chart and time series analysis. Based on the pareto analysis, it was known that there was a change in the order of suppliers whereas in 2011, 80% of the supply came only from Cirebon, Karawang and Bandung (West Java Province). While in 2015 the main source of supply changed to Cirebon, Central Java and Karawang. Linear trend equation using decomposition model for Cirebon and Karawang showed trend of decreasing monthly supply while Central Java had a positive trend. Harvest area of wetland paddy in Cirebon and Karawang showed a negative trend in the last 6 years. The data also showed that West Java Province was the province with the largest rice crop area affected by plant organism attack and drought disaster in 2015. DKI Jakarta had several potential supply chain risks from rice supply, drought risk and pests risk where the province of West Java, which previously could become a major supplier began to require supply assistance from other provinces, especially Central Java.

His recent publications are on philosophy of a photograph hermeneutic reality of product and on philosophy of intimate spaces. R. Dhanuskodi has nearly 40 years of R&D experience at BHEL India in technical areas applicable for thermal power plants. He is a life member of The Institution of Engineers (India) and The Combustion Institute. He has won two BHEL’s Excel awards under the best author category for technical papers. He has visited France Netherlands and Germany under Indo-Europe Clean Coal Development Program. He has guided 42 UG PG and PhD project works. He holds 11 patents 40 copyrights and 2 design registrations. He has presented papers in 20 conferences and published in 10 national and international journals. R. Kaliappan completed his bachelors in electrical and electronics engineering and Masters in Computer Science. With the tremendous increase in the photovoltaic (PV) power plants world-wide remarkable decreases in their installation prices per watt are attained mainly due to economic scale effect. This brings questioning to increase their energy yields by considering any possible way like fabricating bifacial solar modules. Present study is on the performance analysis of a bifacial PV module using one-year outdoor testing results in Ankara-Turkey. The module performed very well and reached a specific yield value of 1750 kWh/kWp. This value for Central Anatolia region is well above the values predicted (and suggested) by the local authorities. The efficiency and performance ratio variation with respect to ambient and module temperature are obtained. The calculated dependence of efficiency on the module temperature is found to be η=-0.073Tmod+18.05, and the maximum measured module temperature is about 70 °C. The results show that the bifacial modules have the potential to replace the mono facial modules that are now dominating the PV market. © 2017 IEEE.
