Chlorella sp. microalgae are often cultivated for various purposes such as medicines, cosmetics, and alternative energy such as biodiesel, bio-crude oil. Different concentrations of nutrients in culture medium can give different effect on population growth and essential content of Chlorella sp. One of them is the concentration of nitrate and phosphate. In order to increase the biomass produced, it is necessary to enhance its growth with another medium that that are cheaper and easier. Urea and TSP was used as source of nitrogen and phosphate element in various ratio for the cultivation at flat plate photobioreactor. Among the process conditions tried, cultivation using urea and TSP fertilizer medium in ratio 2:1 (C1) was considered as the optimum composition that resulted in highest cell density, 4.28 × 107 cells/mL. Then, medium in ratio 4:1 (C2) which was 3.10 × 107 cells/mL and the lowest cell density found in ratio medium 6:1 (C3) which was 1.65 × 107 cells/mL. Medium with low nitrogen content had the highest cell density. The temperature culture during cultivation was in the range of 25 - 26 oC and pH value was in the range of 8.3 - 87. Temperature and pH culture during cultivation are still in optimal conditions for the growth of Chlorella sp.

Industry 4.0 is initiated by the German government as a high level technology strategy in order to keep Germany in a global leading position in manufacturing, also intends to solve energy and aging issues in parallel. Germany has proposed the “Reference Architecture Model Industries 4.0” which is based on the regulations published by the International Electrotechnical Commission. The manifestation of Industry 4.0 can be achieved by the realization of digital factory. And it's emphasized on total integration with Cyber Physical system as its core technology, via Internet of Things to realize the operational environment of human machine interaction, and the utilization of Big Data for decision making. The research motivation of this thesis is to utilize Totally Integrated Automation Portal as a digital factory software development platform, to achieve the fundamental educational requirements of digital factory, and to understand Industry 4.0 concept. Methodology of this research is based on a set of experimental and training mechanism, the sequence of machine movements is controlled by a programmable Logic Controller, and this PLC has to be complied with IEC61131 International Standard. Regarding communication technology also to be complied with IEC61158 and IEC62541 e.g. PROFINET and OPC UA protocol. And finally realizing the operational environment of human machine interaction via smart phone according to the outcome of this research, it has been shown that total integration concept can be realized by single production machine. By standardization of factory environment and increasing the level of operational environment of human machine interaction, productivity and quality of production could be significantly increased. PLC could be used to analyze intelligent platform and comply with the Industry 4.0 standard at the same time.

Outdoor testing of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules must be carried out at different climates as PV power plants nowadays are installed and continues to be installed in many countries. Present study is outdoor testing results and analyses of 5 thin film modules in Ankara, Turkey. The analyses are carried out using monthly efficiencies of the modules that are derived using the energy yield and input. The average efficiencies of the CIS, CIGS and μc-Si/a-Si thin film modules are. We present the monthly and average efficiencies and discuss their variations with the parameter: input, ambient temperature and relative humidity. We also carried out seasonal analyses using Pearson's correlation coefficient and find out that the efficiencies are differently dependent on the above mentioned parameters. This arose a new open question on differentiation of the strength of the effect of each parameter on the monthly efficiencies.

Urban forests are critical for climate adaptation and liveability, but effective irrigation management—key to their sustainability—remains poorly documented at the global scale. This study addresses this critical knowledge gap by analysing urban forest irrigation practices across 109 cities in 21 countries, offering one of the first global assessments of irrigation approaches, challenges, and opportunities. Using survey data, we examined water sources, irrigation frequency, constraints, and enabling conditions. Our results show that weather conditions were the leading factor influencing irrigation scheduling in 44 % of cities, while 56 % reported no formal water restrictions. Despite the importance of water conservation, 55 % of respondents reported having no water usage monitoring systems, and 73 % lacked financial incentives to promote water-efficient irrigation. A large majority (80 %) did not use recycled wastewater, and 58 % did not conduct water quality testing. Only 15 % of cities regularly used water-efficient irrigation technologies, and 47 % had no plans to implement smart systems. Over half (56 %) rated their current irrigation practices as only moderately successful. Budget constraints and infrastructure limitations were the most frequently reported challenges, followed by climate change-related concerns. While environmental variables such as mean annual temperature and irrigation need influenced specific practices, local governance and institutional actions had stronger effects. Cities in the Global South reported distinct strategies and constraints compared to those in the Global North. Our findings provide actionable insights for climate-resilient urban water strategies and underscore the need for targeted policies, capacity-building, and efficient technologies to enhance urban forest sustainability worldwide. © 2025 The Author(s)

In this study, dopamine passivated carbon nanodots (C-dots) were fabricated to detect ferric ions (Fe3+) sensitivity and selectivity. Photoluminescence (PL) intensity of C-dots was turned on after adding phenyl boric acid. Depending on the interesting PL property, we investigated a novel strategy for Fe3+detection. Comparing to the previous papers used complicated and tedious process to fabricate nanomaterial-based probes for Fe3+ sensing, the one-pot hydrothermal method spend only 2 h to prepare C-dots from dopamine and trisodium citrate. The limit of detection (LOD) is 5.8 nM, which is lower than these papers.

With the tremendous increase in the photovoltaic (PV) power plants world-wide remarkable decreases in their installation prices per watt are attained mainly due to economic scale effect. This brings questioning to increase their energy yields by considering any possible way like fabricating bifacial solar modules. Present study is on the performance analysis of a bifacial PV module using one-year outdoor testing results in Ankara-Turkey. The module performed very well and reached a specific yield value of 1750 kWh/kWp. This value for Central Anatolia region is well above the values predicted (and suggested) by the local authorities. The efficiency and performance ratio variation with respect to ambient and module temperature are obtained. The calculated dependence of efficiency on the module temperature is found to be η = -0.073T mod +18.05, and the maximum measured module temperature is about 70 °C. The results show that the bifacial modules have the potential to replace the mono facial modules that are now dominating the PV market.

Objectives Although previous epidemiological studies have reported the effects of fetal exposure to phthalates and phenols on birth outcomes, evidence is limited. The objective of this study was to investigate whether prenatal exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals [EDCs;phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA)] is associated with birth outcomes and whether there are sex-specific *** We used data from the Korean CHildren’s ENvironmental health Study (Ko-CHENS) cohort. Exposure to phthalates and BPA was measured by urine tests, and the information on outcomes and confounders was obtained from delivery records, biomarker assessment, and a self-reported questionnaire. We performed multivariate logistic regression to estimate the association between exposure to individual EDCs and each birth outcome. Additionally, to evaluate the effects of EDC mixture exposure, we performed weighted quantile sum regression analysis. Subgroup analysis stratified by maternal age and sex at birth was performed to examine potential differences in *** This study included 2,176 mother-child pairs from the Ko-CHENS. We observed a significant association between the risk of PTB and exposure to BPA during early pregnancy and mono-carboxyoctyl phthalate (MCOP) during late pregnancy, with odds ratios of 1.23 (95% CI: 1.01, 1.49) and 1.29 (95% CI: 1.03, 1.62), respectively. Additionally, there was a positive association between exposure to MCOP during early pregnancy and the risk of LBW (OR: 1.39, 95% CI: 1.03, 1.89). For male infants, exposure to MCOP during early pregnancy was associated with the risk of LBW (OR: 2.44, 95% CI: 1.43, 4.15), and exposure to MCOP during late pregnancy was associated with the risk of PTB (OR 1.45, 95% CI: 1.05, 2.02).Conclusions This study presents quantitative evidence for the association between prenatal exposure to EDCs, especially BPA and MCOP, and PTB/LBW. Although machine learning (ML) has shown promise in numerous domains, there are concerns about generalizability to out-of-sample data. This is currently addressed by centrally sharing ample, and importantly diverse, data from multiple sites. However, such centralization is challenging to scale (or even not feasible) due to various limitations. Federated ML (FL) provides an alternative to train accurate and generalizable ML models, by only sharing numerical model updates. Here we present findings from the largest FL study to-date, involving data from 71 healthcare institutions across 6 continents, to generate an automatic tumor boundary detector for the rare disease of glioblastoma, utilizing the largest dataset of such patients ever used in the literature (25,256 MRI scans from 6,314 patients). We demonstrate a 33% improvement over a publicly trained model to delineate the surgically targetable tumor, and 23% improvement over the tumor's entire extent. We anticipate our study to: 1) enable more studies in healthcare informed by large and diverse data, ensuring meaningful results for rare diseases and underrepresented populations, 2) facilitate further quantitative analyses for glioblastoma via performance optimization of our consensus model for eventual public release, and 3) demonstrate the effectiveness of FL at such scale and task complexity as a paradigm shift for multi-site collaborations, alleviating the need for data sharing. © 2022, CC BY.

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is one method that is often used in the benchmarking process. The benchmarking process with DEA is often faced with problems where there is a Decision Making Unit (DMU) both Input and Output which is not in the form of qualitative data but in the form of qualitative data. Qualitative data requires an assessment from the appraiser so that it can become quantitative data. This study will use the Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting method to convert qualitative data into quantitative. The results of this study will produce a model that integrates DEA with Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting.
