The problem of robust output feedback stabilization is studied. The new robust stability LMI condition including guaranteed cost and the respective simple control design procedure is developed. Though the proposed condition is sufficient, it is supposed not to be overly conservative. To reduce the conservatism parameter-dependent Lyapunov function is employed and an extra degree of freedom is included by using previous results of (Oliveira et al., 1999) and introducing other additional slack matrix and scalar parameters. The example is given to analyse and compare the obtained results with other ones. © 2003 IFAC.

Nowadays, intelligent vehicles are becoming more and more important in the transportation field. What makes such a vehicle vulnerable is the number of interconnected components that individually have a strong security but can cause weakness points when they are connected. The challenge is to design and build a powerful system that uses both cyber-physical components. The proposed model is a system with integrated modules for fingerprint and face recognition to certify that a driver has the right to access the vehicle. The aim is to develop a security system for intelligent vehicles that can be also a secure keyless entry system using the power of biometrics. When a driver approaches the car, a sensor will activate the recognition modules. Only after the total completion of the recognition process the driver is authenticated and has the right to use the vehicle. We simulated real-time face detection and eye tracking using Matlab 2020a. Face detection is performed using Viola-Jones algorithms and the tracking is made with bbox-es. Besides normal conditions, other tests were made to challenge the algorithm, for example: angle rotations, the use of glasses, face mask, glasses and face mask together. © 2021 IEEE.

Postural monitoring in wheelchair users is a topic of growing interest. The detection of changes in the sitting patterns of these patients may serve to detect changes in their functional status and be able to adapt rehabilitation early. For this reason, this paper presents a methodology for the detection of specific postural anomalies that, unlike previous works, adopts unsupervised learning. The proposed methodology involves data dimensionality reduction using Principal Component Analysis, and the application of K-means clustering to group different normal posture states. The anomalies are detected using a threshold approach, where data points that fall outside a certain threshold are considered as anomalies. The results show that the methodology is effective in identifying anomalies with a high degree of accuracy (around 90%). © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, robotic sensor fusion of acceleration and force measurement is considered. We discuss the problem of using accelerometers close to the end-effectors of robotic manipulators and how it may improve the force control performance. We introduce a new model-based observer approach to sensor fusion of information from various different sensors. During contact transition, accelerometers and force sensors play a very important role and it can overcome many of the difficulties of uncertain models and unknown environments, which limit the domain of application of currents robots used without external sensory feedback. A model of the robot-grinding tool using the new sensors was obtained by system identification. An impedance control scheme was proposed to verify the improvement. The experiments were carried out on an ABB industrial robot with open control system architecture.

The current trend in robotics is to achieve robust, high-speed and precise robots that fulfill the industry's requirements. Parallel robots are proposed as the best solution for some of these tasks due to the advantages offered by their parallel kinematic structure. However, in order to take the most of these advantages, advanced model-based control approaches are needed. In this paper, the dynamic model of the 3RRR is obtained in order to consider passive joint sensor data. The dynamic model developed is defined in a compact and structured form and is used to implement a novel redundant Computed Torque control Scheme. Experimental data show that this approach increases the trajectory tracking and positioning accuracy of the 3RRR planar parallel robot. © 2009 EUCA.

Task scheduling algorithms are key to research and practice in parallel testing techniques, especially in control system applications. The complexity of control system testing requires higher scheduling efficiency. However, perturbation events caused by test equipment problems, data transmission obstacles, or task changes are almost unavoidable and may reduce the scheduling effectiveness or even lead to system crashes. Therefore, in this paper, based on the analysis of the dynamic test scheduling model, a disturbance factor is designed to judge the urgency of disturbance events for evaluating the dynamic scheduling cycle. On this basis, based on the comprehensive rescheduling index, a suitable adjustment strategy is selected to formulate the dynamic test scheduling scheme. The experimental results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can achieve fast response capability for different disturbance events and exhibit good adaptivity. © 2024 IEEE.

This article deals with the development of a reduced model describing the temporal evolution of the fructo-oligosaccharide production by Aureobasidium pullulans and the optimal process control. First, a reduced model is derived from a detailed model reproducing with good accuracy the dynamics of the fructo-oligosaccharide production. The reduced model is obtained using maximum likelihood principal component analysis and parameter identification based on a weighted least squares criterion. Next, the fructo-oligosaccharide concentration at an a priori undetermined time is maximized using Pontryagin maximum principle. The methodology is analyzed based on experimental data from batch and fed-batch cultures, and results are compared with those obtained with another simple model available in the literature. © 2018

Assembly and disassembly tasks are examples of "unfriendly" operations for humans. This paper presents research efforts in order to improve the operations of mobile structures for difficult environments. The operation of autonomous mobile robots in a real-world unstructured environment requires consideration of multiple issues. The controller must be able to operate under conditions of imprecision and uncertainty (e.g. prior knowledge about the environment is incomplete, uncertain, and approximate, the dynamics of real-world environments is complex and unpredictable). To cope with these difficulties, the controller must be able to respond reactively to unforeseen events as soon as they are perceived. © 2003 IFAC.

This paper describes the parameter optimization of fuzzy logic control (FLC) of FES-assisted indoor rowing exercise (FES-rowing) using multi objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). The indoor rowing exercise is introduced as a total body exercise for rehabilitation of function of lower extremities through the application of functional electrical stimulation (FES). FLC is used to control the knee and elbow trajectories for smooth rowing manoeuvre. MOGA is implemented in Matlab with a dynamic simulation model of indoor rowing exercise is developed using Visual Nastran (vN4D) software environment. MOGA is used to optimize the FES-rowing with two objective functions specified that are i) to minimize the mean squared error of knee angle trajectory and ii) to minimize the total electrical stimulation required by the muscles. In view of good results obtained, it is concluded that MOGA is able to obtain the optimal design of FLC for FES-rowing with two conflicting objectives. © 2010 IEEE.

A Pango FPGA-based solution for merging and processing multiple independent video streams and reconstructing a real-time display system is presented. The system handles each video stream individually, then produces a combined video output in HDMI format. To ensure high efficiency and low latency, a parallel processing scheme and a hardware-oriented architecture are employed. The Pango PG50K FPGA board acts as the central hardware for managing inputs, reconstructing video, and producing outputs. Rapid-access DDR3-SDRAM ensures efficient data caching and signal integrity. This system is ideal for applications requiring rapid response, such as traffic monitoring and industrial automation, and supports quick algorithm iteration and optimization, enhancing performance and adaptability. © 2024 IEEE.
