The focus of this paper is to address a novel control technique for stability and transparency analysis of bilateral telerobotic systems in the presence of data loss and time delay in the communication channel. Different control strategies have been reported to compensate the effects of time delay in the communication channel;however, most of them result in poor performance under data loss. First, a model for data loss is proposed using a finite series representation of a set of periodic continuous *** improve the performance and data reconstruction, a holder circuits is also introduced. The passivity of the overall system is provided via the wave variable technique based on the proposed model for the data loss. The stability analysis of the system is then derived using the Lyapunov theorem under the time delay and the data loss. Finally, experimental results are given to illustrate the capability of the proposed control technique.

This research focuses on the contextualization and digital reconstruction of twelve funerary artifacts from a Han Era archeological site, currently housed at the Asian Art Museum of Turin (MAO). The reconstructed artifacts have played a central role in a virtual exhibition that has integrated and represented the characteristic elements of Han art, emphasizing architecture, painting, and sculptural features, through the incorporation of storytelling. The process was developed through photogrammetric acquisition and 3D modelling of the funerary artifacts, reconstructive modeling and texturing of a Han tomb, along with a Virtual Reality (VR) experience enhanced by a set of informative descriptions. The study involved a multidisciplinary team of experts in Asian art, digital reconstruction, and information processing systems, with the support of MOD Lab Arch and VR@POLITO at the Politecnico di Torino.

LanCOPE: Language-Guided Category-Level Object Pose Estimation from a Single RGB Image

Monocular RGB-based category-level object pose estimation is more practical and cost-effective for robotics. However, existing methods do not fully exploit the rich semantic and contextual information in multimodal data (e.g. language) that provides additional object attributes to guide the model in extracting category features more reliably. We propose a language-guided category-level object pose estimation method (LanCOPE), taking a single RGB image as input. Our method uses DINOv2 to recover depth from a single RGB image and converts it into point cloud to perceive the object's geometry. We then introduce language descriptions for the RGB image, estimated point cloud and overall scene to better guide the point cloud encoder and image encoder in learning category features. We develop a cross-modal differential perception feature fusion network to fuse multimodal features. This network employs a differential perception module to eliminate redundant information across different modalities, highlighting signifcant semantic differences and similarities. Furthermore, it uses a cross-attention mechanism to fuse the semantic information of the language and vision features, improving the overall perception. Finally, we design a denoising network based on the skip fusion transformer to recover the object pose accurately. Extensive experiments on REAL275 and Wild6D datasets show that LanCOPE achieves state-of-the-art performance. Our code is available at LanCOPE. © 2016 IEEE.

Sensor network localization (SNL) problems require determining the physical coordinates of all sensors in a network. This process relies on the global coordinates of anchors and the available measurements between non-anchor and anchor nodes. Attributed to the intrinsic non-convexity, obtaining a globally optimal solution to SNL is challenging, as well as implementing corresponding algorithms. In this paper, we formulate a non-convex multi-player potential game for a generic SNL problem to investigate the identification condition of the global Nash equilibrium (NE) therein, where the global NE represents the global solution of SNL. We employ canonical duality theory to transform the non-convex game into a complementary dual problem. Then we develop a conjugation-based algorithm to compute the stationary points of the complementary dual problem. On this basis, we show an identification condition of the global NE: the stationary point of the proposed algorithm satisfies a duality relation. Finally, simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Developing force control mechanisms employing electromagnetic solutions is on the rise in active control applications for flexible mechanical systems, like marine engines and shipboard machinery. Electromagnetic control devices offer superior performance indicators compared to traditional mechanical force actuators in terms of longevity, energy efficiency, maintenance requirements, rapid control response, and high operating speeds. This article investigates the use of magnetic actuation and switching power electronics in addressing the stabilization and tracking control challenges encountered in the dynamics of a mechanical system with a single degree of freedom, comprising mass, spring, and damper elements. Particularly, a linear mechanical oscillator is nonlinearly coupled with an electromagnet and its associated driving circuit via the magnetic field. The electromagnetically actuated mechanical system exhibits characteristics of a deferentially flat nonlinear system. A control strategy is suggested for the purpose of tracking reference position trajectories using output feedback linearization. The synthetic linearized control signal is subsequently guided to a DC–DC buck converter, able to regulate the system's input voltage in a wide range of operation, by switching the duty cycle. The converter is described using a precise electrical model of the system, accounting for parasitic resistances in the inductor, capacitor, and switches. An averaged state space approach is utilized to create a mathematical nonlinear model for the converter which is then linearized by employing the Exact Feedback Linearization technique. By applying optimal control theory, the controller's coefficients are fine-tuned for optimal performance. To assess the proposed method's performance, the dynamics of the compensated mechatronic system is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. This article investigates the adaptive resource allocation scheme for digital twin (DT) synchronization optimization over dynamic wireless networks. In our considered model, a base station (BS) continuously collects factory physical object state data from wireless devices to build a real-time virtual DT system for factory event analysis. Due to continuous data transmission, maintaining DT synchronization must use extensive wireless resources. To address this issue, a subset of devices is selected to transmit their sensing data, and resource block (RB) allocation is optimized. This problem is formulated as a constrained Markov process (CMDP) problem that minimizes the long-term mismatch between the physical and virtual systems. To solve this CMDP, we first transform the problem into a dual problem that refines RB constraint impacts on device scheduling strategies. We then propose a continual reinforcement learning (CRL) algorithm to solve the dual problem. The CRL algorithm learns a stable policy across historical experiences for quick adaptation to dynamics in physical states and network capacity. Simulation results show that the CRL can adapt quickly to network capacity changes and reduce normalized root mean square error (NRMSE) between physical and virtual states by up to 55.2%, using the same RB number as traditional methods. © 2025 IEEE. In this paper, we investigate the issues of real-time sensor scheduling and state estimator design within large-scale sensor network systems. Specifically, data redundancy sometimes occurs in large-scale sensor arrays due to the excessive proximity of sensing units in the spatial domain, leading to high similarity in their measurement data. Currently, it is difficult to account for such redundancy in sensor scheduling algorithms found in existing literature, where the optimal subset of sensors is generally selected by optimizing objective functions formulated from certain performance criteria. To tackle this problem, we introduce an event-based sensor scheduling strategy, the triggering condition of which is designed founded on the similarity of sensor data, so as to identify the most informative subset of sensors for state estimation. To evaluate the impact of the sensor scheduling protocol on system observability, we propose a new notion of $\mathscr{E}(\varepsilon)$-observability, based on which an observability criterion is derived. In addition, we have designed a set-valued state estimation algorithm, which takes into account the intricate measurement information structure inherent within the sensor selection mechanism. The performance enhancement of the proposed estimator is also investigated. Finally, numerical experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed estimation algorithm and to verify the performance improvement.

PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are a type of small non-coding RNAs which bind with the PIWI proteins to exert biological effects in various regulatory mechanisms. A growing amount of evidence reveals that exosomal piRNAs are potential biomarkers for diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases. Effective methods for the prediction of exosomal piRNAs are the foundation of piRNA functional research. In this study, we propose an end-to-end deep network for identifying exosomal piRNAs based on features learned from natural language processing (NLP) models for sequence embedding with attention mechanism. First, a benchmark dataset is constructed by processing piRNA subcellular localization annotated data and sequence data. Moreover, bagging positive unlabeled learning is applied to get the reliable negative set. Finally, we treat a piRNA sequence as a sentence and its k-mer subsequence as a token. Sequence embedding models with self-attention mechanism is designed to extract features from exosome piRNA sequences, which are used for the prediction task. Compared with three competing methods, our model achieves the best performance and reveals the key factors of exosomal piRNA sequences by the attention mechanism. Our model characterizes exosomal piRNAs and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate exosomal piRNAs' functions. © 2022 IEEE.

Interactive medical image segmentation methods have become increasingly popular in recent years. These methods combine manual labeling and automatic segmentation, reducing the workload of annotation while maintaining high accuracy. However, most current interactive segmentation frameworks are limited to 2D image data, and are not suitable for 3D image data due to the large size and high complexity of 3D data, as well as the challenges posed by information asymmetry and sparse annotation. In this paper, we propose SliceProp, an interactive segmentation framework that implements slice-wise Label Bidirectional Propagation (LBP) for 3D medical image segmentation. SliceProp extends the interactive 2D image segmentation algorithm to 3D image segmentation, and can handle 3D data with large size and high complexity. Moreover, equipped with a Backtracking Feedback Check (BFC) module, SliceProp effectively addresses the issues of information asymmetry and spatial sparse annotation in 3D medical image segmentation. Additionally, we adopt an uncertainty-based criterion to pri-oritize the slices to be refined interactively, which enhances the efficiency of the interaction process by enabling the model to focus on the regions with the most unreliable predictions. SliceProp is evaluated on two datasets and achieves promising results compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Blood is vital for transporting oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to all body parts as it circulates through arteries and veins. It removes carbon dioxide, regulates body temperature, and maintains the body's immune system. Individuals constantly need blood and its derivatives to save their lives and improve their health through medical treatments and surgical operations. Liver diseases are one of the diseases that affects the health of individuals and requires blood to continue living. These diseases cause significant damage to people's health, and early diagnosis plays a crucial role in saving lives. In this paper, machine learning algorithms (support vector machine and random forest) are involved in detecting liver diseases and determining whether donors are suitable to donate blood from blood values. This paper is applied research that found that the performance measures of the random forest algorithm achieved excellent performance in identifying suitable people to donate blood.
