In the field of large-scale SLAM for autonomous driving and mobile robotics, 3D point cloud based place recognition has aroused significant research interest due to its robustness to changing environments with drastic daytime and weather variance. However, it is time-consuming and effort-costly to obtain high-quality point cloud data for place recognition model training and ground truth for registration in the real world. To this end, a novel registration-aided 3D domain adaptation network for point cloud based place recognition is proposed. A structure-aware registration network is introduced to help to learn features with geometric information and a 6-DoFs pose between two point clouds with partial overlap can be estimated. The model is trained through a synthetic virtual LiDAR dataset through GTA-V with diverse weather and daytime conditions and domain adaptation is implemented to the real-world domain by aligning the global features. Our results outperform state-of-the-art 3D place recognition baselines or achieve comparable on the real-world Oxford RobotCar dataset with the visualization of registration on the virtual dataset. High-precision motion industrial systems must satisfy tight performance requirements. Both positioning accuracy and throughput demands are typically achieved through improvements in hardware, thereby raising the bill of materials. A cost saving alternative could be to strive for a reduction in the hardware components needed, in combination with advanced motion control, to still meet the desired specifications. Particularly, in this paper, the possibility is analyzed to allow for resource sharing among several actuators. This results in a switched system, for which we develop a real-time MPC algorithm for optimization of both the input and the switching signals. This implementation applies to a fairly general class of nonlinear systems and uses a novel offset-free formulation in velocity form for LTV prediction models, to realize good tracking performance under the resource sharing constraints. We provide a proof of concept for this MPC solution on a high fidelity model of an industrial SCARA robot, where it is proposed to use a single amplifier to serve two actuators. The MPC solution is compared to heuristically switched LTI controllers, and the potential of the proposed approach is shown in simulations. © 2018

The interaction between matter and squeezed light has mostly been treated within the approximation that the field correlation time is small. Methods for treating squeezed light with more general correlations currently involve explicitly modeling the systems producing the light. We develop a general purpose input-output theory for a particular form of narrowband squeezed light-a squeezed wave-packet mode-that only cares about the statistics of the squeezed field and the shape of the wave packet. This formalism allows us to derive the input-output relations and the master equation. We also consider detecting the scattered field using photon counting and homodyne measurements which necessitates the derivation of the stochastic master equation. The non Markovian nature of the field manifests itself in the master equation as a coupled hierarchy of equations. We illustrate these with consequences for the decay and resonance fluorescence of two-level atoms in the presence of such fields. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Background Diarrhoeal diseases claim more than 1 million lives annually and are a leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years. Comprehensive global estimates of the diarrhoeal disease burden for specific age groups of children younger than 5 years are scarce, and the burden in children older than 5 years and in adults is also understudied. We used results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to assess the burden of, and trends in, diarrhoeal diseases overall and attributable to 13 pathogens, as well as the contributions of associated risk factors, in children and adults in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021. Methods We used the Cause of Death Ensemble modelling strategy to analyse vital registration data, verbal autopsy data, mortality surveillance data, and minimally invasive tissue sampling data. We used DisMod-MR (version 2.1), a Bayesian meta-regression tool, to analyse incidence and prevalence data identified via systematic reviews, population-based surveys, and claims and inpatient data. We calculated diarrhoeal disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) as the sum of years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs) for each location, year, and age-sex group. For aetiology estimation, we used a counterfactual approach to quantify population-attributable fractions (PAFs). Additionally, we estimated the diarrhoeal disease burden attributable to the independent effects of risk factors using the comparative risk assessment framework. Findings In 2021, diarrhoeal diseases caused an estimated 1.17 million (95% uncertainty interval 0.793-1.62) deaths globally, representing a 60.3% (50.6-69.0) decrease since 1990 (2.93 million [2.31-3.73] deaths). The most pronounced decline was in children younger than 5 years, with a 79.2% (72.4-84.6) decrease in diarrhoeal deaths. To accommodate exponentially increasing traffic demands of vehicle-based applications, operators are utilizing offloading as a promising technique to improve quality of service (QoS), which gives rise to the application of Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). While the conventional offloading paradigms focus on delay and energy tradeoff, they either fail to find efficient models to represent delay, especially the queueing delay, or underestimate the role of MEC Server. In this paper, we propose a novel Pre-Allocation Design for vehicular Offloading (PADO). A task delay queue is constructed based on an allocate-execute separate (AES) mechanism. Due to the dynamics of vehicular network, we are inspired to utilize Lyapunov optimization to minimize the execution cost of each vehicle and guarantee task delay. The MEC Server with energy harvesting devices is also taken into consideration of the system. The transaction between vehicles and server is decided by a Stackelberg Game framework. With the coming of exascale supercomputing era, power efficiency has become the most important obstacle to build an exascale system. Dataflow architecture has native advantage in achieving high power efficiency for scientific applications. However, the state-of-the-art dataflow architectures fail to exploit high parallelism for loop processing. To address this issue, we propose a pipelining loop optimization method （PLO）, which makes iterations in loops flow in the processing element （PE） array of dataflow accelerator. This method consists of two techniques, architecture-assisted hardware iteration and instruction-assisted software iteration. In hardware iteration execution model, an on-chip loop controller is designed to generate loop indexes, reducing the complexity of computing kernel and laying a good f（mndation for pipelining execution. In software iteration execution model, additional loop instructions are presented to solve the iteration dependency problem. Via these two techniques, the average number of instructions ready to execute per cycle is increased to keep floating-point unit busy. Simulation results show that our proposed method outperforms static and dynamic loop execution model in floating-point efficiency by 2.45x and 1.1x on average, respectively, while the hardware cost of these two techniques is acceptable.

The deployment of 6th Generation (6G) mobile networks will bring revolutionary changes to organizations and users through higher speeds, lower latency, and more intelligent network management. This will require more efficient spectrum sharing to improve network performance. Cognitive Radio (CR) can be employed to help achieve this goal. However, data collection at the fusion center for cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) creates a risk of sensing user (SU) data leakage. In this paper, an intelligent CSS algorithm for mobile communication is proposed based on Federated Learning with a Swin-Transformer. First, to achieve the cross-domain process, a Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) is used with the normalized time series data to obtain a time-frequency spectrum map with joint time-frequency features. Second, Federated Learning is employed to realize distributed CSS to reduce sensing overhead, improve the security of sensing data, and eliminate the SU data isolation with traditional distributed CSS. Then, a new Swin-Transformer spectrum sensing is proposed for fusion learning of the time-frequency spectrum map. The fusion of Federated Learning and Swin-Transformer neural network provides cooperation with multiple SUs to achieve efficient spectrum sensing using the K -rank fusion criterion. Compared with the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), ViT-Transformer, Graph Neural Network (GNN) and EfficientNet algorithms, the detection probability of the proposed algorithm has increased by 45 %, and the false alarm probability has decreased by 13 %.

A multi-agent system designed to achieve distance-based shape control with flocking behavior can be seen as a mechanical system described by a Lagrangian function and subject to additional external forces. Forced variational integrators are given by the discretization of Lagrange-d’Alembert principle for systems subject to external forces, and have proved useful for numerical simulation studies of complex dynamical systems. We derive forced variational integrators that can be employed in the context of control algorithms for distance-based shape with velocity consensus. In particular, we provide an accurate numerical integrator with a lower computational cost than traditional solutions, while preserving the configuration space and symmetries. We also provide an explicit expression for the integration scheme in the case of an arbitrary number of agents with double integrator dynamics. For a numerical comparison of the performances, we use a planar formation consisting of three autonomous agents. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.
