In this paper, we study the semi-global output containment control problem of a multi-agent system in the presence of actuator saturation over a directed network. The leader and follower agents are of different dynamics, and the follower agents are affected by disturbances generated by the leader agents through directed paths in the communication topology. The control objective of the output containment control is to drive the output trajectories of the follower agents to converge to the convex hull spanned by the outputs of the leader agents in the presence of disturbances. Low gain feedback containment protocols are constructed based on the output regulation approach and distributed observers. It is shown that semi-global output containment control can be achieved by the proposed protocols, if each follower agent is connected to at least one leader agent through a directed path in the communication topology. Simulation results verify the theoretical conclusions.

This paper studies the global leader-following consensus problem for a multi-agent system using event-triggered bounded *** the follower agents and the leader agent are described by a chain of integrators of an arbitrary *** event-triggered control law is constructed for each follower agent and an event-triggering strategy is designed for updating the control *** event-triggered control laws are shown to achieve global leader-following consensus when the communication topology among the follower agents is connected and the leader is a neighbor of at least one follower *** absence of the Zeno behavior is established.A self-triggering strategy is also proposed to avoid continuous verification of the triggering *** results are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

A linear solution method of generalized robust chance constrained real-time dispatch

In this letter, a novel solution method of generalized robust chance constrained real-time dispatch (GRCC-RTD) considering wind power uncertainty is proposed. GRCC models are advantageous in dealing with distributional uncertainty, however, they are difficult to solve because of the complex ambiguity set. By constructing traceable counterparts of the robust chance constraints and using the reformulation linearization technique, the model is equivalently transformed into a deterministic linear programming problem, which can be solved efficiently by offthe-shelf solvers. Numerical results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the approach. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We present some improvements on interpolation based control (IC) for linear discrete-time systems with polyhedral constraints on the control and the states variables. The plant may be uncertain, time-varying, and subject to bounded disturbances. Roughly speaking, IC approach is based on the interpolation between an inner and an outer controller. The extension presented here is twofold. On the one hand, the IC approach is extended to deal with higher order inner controllers, making it e.g. possible to incorporate integral action in a vicinity of the origin. On the other hand, this paper presents a modification that better exploits the control signal range. As with previous IC strategies, the presented method demands relatively low online computational resources, and is applicable also to uncertain plants. The benefits of the improved scheme are illustrated in some examples. © 2017

This paper seeks the optimization of soot-blowing operations for heat transfer surfaces in coal- fired power plant boiler. A preventive soot blowing strategy based on state of health prediction for heat transfer surface was proposed. The average state of health of heat transfer surface was forecasted as the threshold to draft preventive soot blowing strategy. According to the theory of renewal process, an optimization model with the system prediction interval and the threshold of preventive soot blowing operation as the optimization variables and minimize average energy losses as the target function was established. By using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), the optimal preventive cycle and soot-blowing threshold were obtained, and the long-run average cost rate was the lowest. The model is validated with experiment data of a 300MW coal-fired power plant boiler and the parameters of prediction model are obtained. The results can verify the feasibility of proposed strategy. It can be used as the guide for the optimization of soot blowing in coal-fired power plant to improve the energy conservation level.

In this paper we revisit the problem of global asymptotic stabilization of the double integrator system subject to output saturation. We first observe that the double integrator system cannot be asymptotically stabilized by linear static output feedback. We then establish that there exist linear dynamic output feedback laws that globally asymptotically stabilize the double integrator system subject to output saturation. The determination of the linear output feedback laws is presented in the form of an algorithm. Simulation results illustrate that the linear dynamic output feedback laws have the ability to achieve global asymptotic stabilization of the double integrator system subject to output saturation.

We present a design method used to develop an extrapolating multidimensional neural network planner for mobile object with intelligent position-trajectory control system. The modeling results of a modified neural network neural network planner used for a robotic mobile object are presented. The design method is based on the bionic environment sensing in undefined conditions with stationary and mobile obstacles in a multidimensional space. The main design principal of the neural network planner structure is the hierarchical principle of information-processing systems. Based on this we present a hierarchical structure of a complex extrapolating multidimensional neural-alike network. Such network contains separate layers used on different stages to process the environment plan received from a robotic object's technical vision system. The hierarchical structure of a complex multidimensional neural-alike network is based on the following principles: object-oriented parametric synthesis, synthesis of weighted object position features with time sampling, and direction vector plans used to extrapolate such features. These plans with a certain probability determine the spatial position of related objects in future. We present the modelling results of selected methods used to detect round or spherical mobile obstacles based on technical vision system data and to predict their trajectories in two-dimensional and three-dimensional space. We present the results of software-based modelling of this approach to design neural network planner for the intelligent position-trajectory control system of mobile objects in two-dimensional space and in the simulation software package in three-dimensional space. © 2017 IEEE.

Gastric ulcer is a chronic and complex (and often complete) erosion of the stomach wall that happens as a complication of a previous chronic, inflammatory process. It represents a catastrophic situation in which the patient is critical and its conditions need to be treated fast. This study presents a remotely navigatable and deployable ingestible patch and plug for gastric ulcer treatment. The patch/plug structure is made of agarose hydrogel that can change rigidity through hydration and dehydration. When dehydrated, it is rigid and can maintain a folded configuration so it can be ingested as a "pill". This can be guided to the targeted location by a magnetic field, and be deployed instantly by hydration, namely by supplying water from the mouth. Due to the deployable origami design, it exhibits an expansion of 10 times its initial surface area, making the device suitable for the use of dressing a surface as a patch, and filling a hole as a plug.
