Maintenance scheduling and asset management practices play an important role in power systems,specifically in power generating *** paper presents a novel riskbased framework for a criticality assessment of plant components as a means to conduct more focused maintenance *** components in power plants that influence overall system performance are identified by quantifying their failure impact on system reliability,electric safety,cost,and the *** of plant components according to the proposed risk-based method ensures that the most effective and techno-economic investment decisions are ***,in turn,helps to initiate modern maintenance approaches,such as reliability-centered maintenance(RCM).The proposed method is applied to a real combined cycle power plant(CCPP)in Iran,composed of two gas turbine power plants(GTPP)and one steam turbine power plant(STPP).The results demonstrate the practicality and applicability of the presented approach in real world practices.

This research proposes two virtual keyboard designs and two control methods of virtual keyboards. The Keyboard I layout is a 4×10 matrix with QWERTY array keypad and the Keyboard II layout is a 7×6 matrix with alphabet array keypad. Both methods use thumb and index finger only to operate the keyboards. These two fingers can execute five commands: right searching, down searching, selecting character, clearing monitor, and activating the buzzer. The directions of fingers are detected by a Leap Motion sensor. The Algorithm I has two-finger gestures and 4 variables of time. The first gesture is the pointing down index finger with three functions which depends on the time variable: right searching, down searching and clearing monitor. The thumb finger pointing to the inside palm is the second gesture for selecting and activating the buzzer. The algorithm II has one additional gesture, but it has only 3 variables of time. The extra gesture is a slightly left movement of the index finger. This movement is for the down searching. The time variable is only used to clear the monitor and activate the buzzer in the 2nd algorithm. The results showed that algorithm II can reduce the time consumed to type a single character in both keyboard types. The Algorithm I spent approximately 6.7 seconds/character. This number was reduced by Algorithm II into only 5 seconds/character. The Algorithm I had a less finger gesture, but too much time variables confused the user in operating the system. Both algorithms and virtual keyboard designs had successfully been implemented in this research. Those who can just use at least the index finger and thumb would enable them to chat with others by using this application.

A novel comprehensive real-time on-line calculation model of coal's Low Heating Value(LHV) in coal-fired boiler is presented in this ***,the training operational data is partitioned into several subsets by means of C-Means cluster ***,the Least Squares Support Vector Machine(LS-SVM) method is used to training the sub-models in each ***,the sub-models are combined into one model based on Partial Least Squares algorithm(PLS).The models' effectiveness is illustrated by the validation of online simulation in which the real operation data is *** result shows that it is potential to considerably fulfill not only the accuracy of online monitoring of LHV of the coal into the boiler,but also the real-time computations that are supplied by using indirect heat balance approach.

Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. This paper aims to develop a sensor based monitoring and analyzing system for Neuro-Degenerative Disorder patients (NDD);this may consist on SpO2 sensor, Electrophysiological sensors, NIBP, Motion Capture sensors and Eye Monitoring sensor, taking into consideration an acceptable cost for the whole system. Recorded data will be sent to an embedded decision making unit where detection, analysis, classification, prediction and action control will occur. The sensors and the decision making unit will be implemented in a comfortable jacket that doesn't affect the patients' movements and that can be used by several patients with reduced sensor placement alterations. The decision that can be made is creating a stimulus to avoid falling in case of sudden stop while moving, initiating an alarm, sending a notification to a mobile phone application, and/or telemedicine monitoring features. Artificial Neural Networks will be used to classify and predict the abnormal cases where action should be taken, and since the sensors will be continuously recording, it is possible to achieve continuous learning for the ANN as a first phase. Initial models will be defined by testing normal behaviors and some known abnormal behaviors or symptoms related to the electrical activity and other characteristics of the heart, oxygen saturation level, eye activity and body motion. © 2016 IEEE.

This paper studies the problem of global stabilization of multiple integrator systems using event-triggered bounded controls. The linear system is described by a chain of integrators of arbitrary length n. A switching event-triggered bounded control law is constructed. This control law switches among a sequence of n event-triggered control laws. A switching strategy is designed for the selection of an individual event-triggered control law and an event-triggering strategy is designed for updating the control value of each of these control laws. This switching event-triggered control law is shown to achieve global asymptotic stabilization. The absence of the Zeno behavior is also established. Simulation results are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

This paper studies the problem of image-based leader-follower formation control for mobile robots, where the controller is designed independently of the leader's motion. An adaptive control scheme, which is suitable for both omnidirectional and perspective cameras, is proposed. The proposed approach avoids the need for accurate calibration of the extrinsic parameters of the omnidirectional camera as well as the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of perspective camera. Additionally, the coefficients of the plane where the feature point moves relative to the camera frame can be uncertain. These uncertain constant parameters are estimated using an adaptive estimator. Uniform Semi-global Practical Asymptotic Stability (USPAS) of the system is shown using the Lyapunov approach. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

A Baseline Load Estimation Approach for Residential Customer based on Load Pattern Clustering

Demand response (DR) is a key technology enabling reliable and flexible power system operation more economically and environment-friendly than conventional manners from supply side. Customer baseline load (CBL) estimation is an important issue in the implementation of DR programs for assessing the performance of DR programs and designing economic compensation mechanisms. The accurate estimation of CBL is critical to the success of DR programs because it involves the interests of multi-stakeholders including utilities and customers. Motivated by the inaccuracy of existing CBL methods, this paper proposes a residential CBL estimation approach based on load pattern (LP) clustering to improve the accuracy of CBL estimation. First, an adaptive density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm is proposed to extract typical load patterns (TLPs) of each individual customer in order to avoid the adverse effects from aggregating many dissimilar LPs together as the real TLP. Second, K-means clustering is utilized to segment residential customers into several different clusters based on the similarity of LPs. Finally, CBLs for DR participants are estimated based on the actual load of non-participants at the same cluster during DR event periods. The proposed methods are compared with some traditional methods on a smart metering dataset from Ireland. The results show that the proposed methods have a better performance on accuracy than averaging and regression methods.
