Electroencephalography is a non-invasive technique for recording brain bioelectric activity, which has potential applications in various fields such as human-computer interaction and neuroscience. Among them, analysis of the risk of schizophrenia using EEG data is a relatively new research topic. However, there are many difficulties in analyzing EEG data, including its complex composition, low amplitude as well as low signal-to-noise ratio. Some of the existing methods of analysis are based on feature extraction and machine learning to differentiate the phase of schizophrenia (First-episode schizophrenia, Healthy controls or Clinical high-risk) that samples belong to. However, medical research requires the use of machine learning not only to give more accurate classification results, but also to give the results that can be applied to pathological studies. The main purpose of this study is to obtain the weight values as the representation of influence of each frequency band on the classification of schizophrenia phases on the basis of a more effective classification method using the LES feature extraction, and then the weight values are processed and applied to improve the accuracy of machine learning classification. We propose a method called weight-voting to obtain the weights of sub-bands features by using results of classification for voting to fit the actual categories of EEG data, and using weights for reclassification. Through this method, we can first obtain the influence of each band in distinguishing three schizophrenia phases, and analyze the effect of band features on the risk of schizophrenia contributing to the study of psychopathology. In addition, the weights applied to the original classifier can achieve the upgrade of the classification effect, which contributes to the BCI-assisted system of diagnosis and treatment. A polymer/multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composite sensor array based on a flexible polyimide substrate equipped with a thermostatic microheater to provide different working temperatures was developed for gas sensing. The thermostatic microheater provided nine working temperatures ranging from 20°C to 60°C. Each microheater element included a 3 × 3 polymer/MWCNT composite sensor array, which is composed of MWCNTs and polymer composite, as a sensing material. The device was developed to investigate the effect of device temperature on the response of polymer/MWCNT composite gas sensor arrays. The response to ethanol at different temperatures showed resistance variation but similar performance for the proposed gas sensor array.

This paper proposes an approach for the design of distributed state-feedback controllers for interconnected discrete-time LTI systems with uncertain communication links. These links may be subject to intermittent or persistent failure. In particular, we assume that the availability of the communication links over time can be modeled by a Markov chain. For the control design, it is shown in a first step that the combination of the LTI system dynamics and the stochastic model of the time-varying communication topology is a special case of Jump Markov Linear systems (JMLS). Next, constraints on the information structure are introduced, restricting the subsystems' local knowledge about the global network state. This assumes that each subsystem can only detect the availability of incoming communication links. Finally, the synthesis of a stabilizing distributed feedback control law respecting the given information structure and a guaranteed bound on the expected H∞-performance is formulated and solved as a semidefinite program. © 2015 American Automatic control Council.

One of the key subsystems from point of view of security of the complex IoT system is the smart business center (SB?) system. Some problems the design and operation of the SBC system are analyzed. When analysis of safety of the IoT system must take into account the reliability and security of the system at several levels: the level of sensors, the level of communication (communication lines, router, switch), the server level as the control device of components of the network, the level of the entire SBC subsystem. General architecture of network of the SB? is described. Reliability and security of key SB? hardwareand software manufacturers are analysed. In particular, security issue for SB? routers is considered. Shown the Markov model, which takes into account the technical conditions of typical network components of the SBC with the presence of software vulnerabilities when exposed to hacker attacks. On this model's basis it is possible to conduct further researches directed for improving the reliability operation and safety of IoT.

Recently, more and more SSVEP(steady-state visual evoked potential) based BCIs(brain-computer interfaces) are developed to control external devices such as robots and wheelchairs. There have been many different methods for detecting the presence of SSVEPs. In this paper, CCA(canonical correlation analysis) detection method and PSD(power spectral density) detection method are compared in offline experiments. Results show that CCA has a much better performance than PSD. Therefore, CCA detection method is used in the online SSVEP-based BCI system with three targets. Three subjects participated to control a virtual wheeled robot in SIGVerse simulation environment. All of the subjects were able to use this BCI system and achieving an average accuracy of 89.8%, 95.6%, 92.5% respectively.

Dual-Tone Radio Interferometric Positioning systems for Multi-Target Localization Using a Single Mobile Anchor

In this paper, a low-cost dualtone radio interferometric positioning system using a single mobile anchor is proposed to locate multiple targets at the same time. We name it mDRIPS. In mDRIPS, each target continuously transmits a dual-tone signal with its dedicated frequencies, and the mobile anchor receives the signals at different positions along its trajectory, Neither time synchronization between the mobile anchor and the targets nor time synchronization among the targets is required. We take the instability of targets clocks into consideration and develop an ESPRIT-type algorithm to estimate frequencies of each dual-tone signal. Furthermore, the time of arrival （TOA） of each target signal is extracted from the phase estimates of the received dual-tone signals. After measuring several TOAs at different locations along the anchor＇s trajectory, each target can be located. Since the frequency difference of the two tones of each dualtone signal is designed to be smaller than the channel coherence bandwidth, the same fading effect on these two tones can be eliminated. Moreover, the integer ambiguity problem due to phase wrapping is investigated, and a localization algorithm to deal with a simplified ambiguity problem is proposed. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed mDRIPS.

This paper introduces an on-line diagnostic function for temperature sensors using a noise analysis approach. The deviation of temperature measurements from their average value is treated as the noise input data, then the noise data is filtered through the Butterworth filter. The power spectrum density estimation of the noise data is obtained by using the Welch method. The first-order characteristic of the temperature sensor is used to obtain the characteristic frequency of the sensor, which can then be used to determine the working status of the sensor. Finally, through a large number of experiments, the results have shown that the sensor's characteristic frequency in a failure condition is significantly higher than that in the normal state. So it verifies the feasibility of on-line diagnosis by using the noise analysis approach for the temperature sensor.

Architects typically tell stories about their design intentions and then translate the verbal descriptions into action-based commands in computer Aided Design tools. In other words, during the creative process the designer works in a "concepts space" that is different than the "properties space" available in the software virtual world of CAD tools. In this paper we propose to study the vocabulary of concepts used in architectural design by employing machine learning methods over large data-sets of architectural drawings and their storytelling descriptions. The intention is to computationally characterize the meaning of a set of high-level concepts in architectural design, which we call them as μ-concepts, in terms of a set of low-level properties of drawings. With such a correlation, new opportunities can be explored for radically different design tools that allow architects to design by operating over such high-level architectural concepts. Eventually, this will can also provide a novel way of understanding the mental process of architectural design through verbal concepts. Evolutionary algorithms used to solve complex optimization problems usually need to perform a large number of fitness function evaluations, which often requires huge computational overhead. This paper proposes a self-adaptive similarity-based surrogate model as a fitness inheritance strategy to reduce computationally expensive fitness evaluations. Gaussian similarity measurement, which considers the ruggedness of the landscape, is proposed to adaptively regulate the similarity in order to improve the accuracy of the inheritance fitness values. Empirical results on three traditional benchmark problems with 5, 10, 20, and 30 decision variables and on the CEC'13 test functions with 30 decision variables demonstrate the high efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in that it can obtain better or competitive solutions compared to the state-of-the-art algorithms under a limited computational budget.
