Electric vehicle drivetrain modeling and simulation is a crucial aspect of electric vehicle design and development. A driveline is responsible for transferring power from the motor to the wheels, and the modeling and simulation process helps optimize the drivetrain design for efficiency, performance and safety. This paper presents in an extended manner the design and mathematical modeling of a dynamic transmission system of an electric vehicle. The mathematical model was simulated in Matlab Simulink and the obtained results were the basis of the implementation of the entire system in a small vehicle with offroad capabilities. This work is part of a larger project that has as its objective the creation of a complete electric vehicle starting from the design part and up to the testing on the roads.

Nowadays there are many research efforts in the field of artificial intelligence applied in all the fields of robotics. There are developed and trained new models both supervised and unsupervised learning. ln order to be able to get a reliable final product, a very important step is modeling and simulation. This paper focuses on the analysis of a quadruped robot, Stanford Pupper type, for which the mathematical model for the locomotor system was developed in order to be then implemented in a simulator that allows the development of machine learning algorithms for training it. There can be implemented in the simulator various use cases, like: learning to walk both supervised and unsupervised scenarios, learning to navigate on a zone with uneven surface and with small obstacles, or learning to climb stairs or other big obstacles.

Real-time Safety Helmet-wearing Detection Based on Improved YOLOv5

Safety helmet-wearing detection is an essential part of the intelligentmonitoring system. To improve the speed and accuracy of detection, especiallysmall targets and occluded objects, it presents a novel and efficient detectormodel. The underlying core algorithm of this model adopts the YOLOv5 (YouOnly Look Once version 5) network with the best comprehensive detection performance. It is improved by adding an attention mechanism, a CIoU (CompleteIntersection Over Union) Loss function, and the Mish activation function. First,it applies the attention mechanism in the feature extraction. The network can learnthe weight of each channel independently and enhance the information dissemination between features. Second, it adopts CIoU loss function to achieve accuratebounding box regression. Third, it utilizes Mish activation function to improvedetection accuracy and generalization ability. It builds a safety helmet-wearingdetection data set containing more than 10,000 images collected from the Internetfor preprocessing. On the self-made helmet wearing test data set, the averageaccuracy of the helmet detection of the proposed algorithm is 96.7%, which is1.9% higher than that of the YOLOv5 algorithm. It meets the accuracy requirements of the helmet-wearing detection under construction scenarios.

This paper proposes a multi-agent deep reinforcement learning (MADRL) based algorithm for charging control of multiple electric vehicles (EVs) in an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) with dynamic operations. By taking the uncertainties of EV users’ behaviors and charging prices into consideration, a Markov game with multiple objectives is first established, where the individual objective of reducing EV charging costs and the collective objective of mitigating charging load fluctuations are both studied. Then, a multi-agent actor-double-critic (MAADC) algorithm with a unified advantage actor-critic framework is proposed, where two advantage functions are designed as the local and global critics, and the integrated actor is employed to balance the learning towards the individual and collective objectives. The simulation results obtained in a delicately built EVCS environment show the effectiveness of MAADC. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Multi-modal histological image registration tasks pose significant challenges due to tissue staining operations causing partial loss and folding of *** neural network(CNN)and generative adversarial network(GAN)are pivotal inmedical image ***,existing methods often struggle with severe interference and deformation,as seen in histological images of conditions like Cushing’s *** argue that the failure of current approaches lies in underutilizing the feature extraction capability of the discriminator *** this study,we propose a novel multi-modal registration approach GAN-DIRNet based on GAN for deformable histological image *** begin with,the discriminators of two GANs are embedded as a new dual parallel feature extraction module into the unsupervised registration networks,characterized by implicitly extracting feature descriptors of specific ***,modal feature description layers and registration layers collaborate in unsupervised optimization,facilitating faster convergence and more precise ***,experiments and evaluations were conducted on the registration of the Mixed National Institute of Standards and Technology database(MNIST),eight publicly available datasets of histological sections and the Clustering-Registration-Classification-Segmentation(CRCS)dataset on the Cushing’s *** results demonstrate that our proposed GAN-DIRNet method surpasses existing approaches like DIRNet in terms of both registration accuracy and time efficiency,while also exhibiting robustness across different image types.

A Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer-based Multi-hop Clustering Routing Protocol for RF Energy Harvesting-Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks

Radio frequency energy harvesting (RF EH) and clustering are promising solutions to solve the energy constraint problem faced by cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs). However, study on clustering routing protocol design for RF EH-CRSNs is still in the initial stage, and there lacks of solutions for inter-cluster routing problem, which restricts the network scalability. In addition, unbalanced harvested energy and energy consumption may result in premature death of nodes in key position, which will significantly reduce the network performance. In this paper, a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-based multi-hop clustering routing protocol (SMCRP) is proposed for RF EH-CRSNs to well balance the residual energy distribution among nodes and postpone node death. Apart from the RF energy harvested from dedicated or ambi-ent energy sources, the energy obtained through intra-cluster and inter-cluster SWIPT is also considered to facilitate high-quality cluster heads selection, cluster formation and inter-cluster route establishment. Power splitting ratio is derived based on the residual energy of CRSNs nodes and their energy consumption to enable effective implementation of SWIPT in CRSNs. Simulation results show that SMCRP is effective in balancing the residual energy distribution among nodes and improving node sustainability. To be specific, compared with current clustering protocols, the network lifetime is extended by 64.07% while intra-cluster energy balance degree and network energy balance degree are improved by 15.1% and 7.82%, respectively. © 2023 ISSN 2414-8105 (Online).

Convergent Wheeled Robot Navigation Based on an Interpolated Potential Function and Gradient

The article presents a novel idea to construct a smooth navigation function based on the grid-based search that enables replanning in dynamic environments. Since the dynamic constraints of the robot are also considered, the navigation function is combined with the model predicted control (MPC) to guide the robot safely to the defined goal location. The main novelty of this work is the definition of this navigation function and its MPC application with guaranteed closed-loop convergence in finite time for a non-holonomic robot with speed and acceleration constraints. The navigation function consists of an interpolated potential function derived from the grid-based search and a term that guides the orientation of the robot on continuous gradients. The navigation function guarantees convergent trajectories to the desired goal, results in smooth motion between obstacles, has no local minima, and is computationally efficient. The proposed navigation is also suitable in dynamic environments, as confirmed by experiments with a Husky mobile robot. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper introduces a new variational Gaussian filtering approach for estimating the state of a nonlinear dynamic system. We first assume that the predictive distribution of the state is Gaussian and derive an iterative method for updating the state posterior in the natural parameter space through KullbackLeibler divergence minimization. The obtained update rule is the same as that of the conjugate-computation variational inference technique in Bayesian learning. The derivation here is simpler and more insightful. We then impose a Wishart prior on the inverse of the state prediction covariance to take into account the impact of approximating the state predictive distribution using a Gaussian density on the state posterior estimation. The prediction covariance is identified jointly with the state using variational inference and the established state posterior update rule to achieve the desired Gaussian filtering. Simulation study examines the performance of the proposed filtering framework in target tracking based on bearing and range measurements. © 2024 ISIF.

The past few years, we have been developing Outage Work planning Collaboration system (OWCS) with some mathematical optimization techniques. Network programming is the act of writing computer codes for communications between programs or processes in different computers across networks. It is crucial for applications and services using networks, including e-commerce, gaming, and social media. However, university courses of educating it are very limited. As a result, it has become important to develop and offer IT tools to support self-studies of network programming by novices. In this paper, we present a study of two types of introductory exercise problems, namely, Grammar-concept Understanding Problem (GUP) and Comment Insertion Problem (CIP), for self-studies of five basic network protocols of TCP/IP, ARP, SMTP, POP3, and SSH with Python. A GUP instance requests to answer the keyword such as a library function in the given source code that corresponds to the grammar concept described in the question. A CIP instance requests to insert the comment at each blank of the code. String matching is adopted to mark any answer at the browser-based answer interface. Through solving them, it is expected to understand the meaning of important words and the code structure for network programming. As preliminary evaluations, we generated six GUP and CIP instances respectively, and assigned them to 10 students in Okayama University, Japan. The results confirmed that the proposal is proper for novices to learn network programming with Python. © 2023 ACM.
