Humans always face problems when it comes to medical check-up due to lack of time or laziness. However, lots of medical problems and fatal illnesses can be detected at earlier stages if the person is subject to continuous check-up. Hence, the idea of the proposed system is to design a tool enabling the measurement of the basic vital signs with the smallest effort possible from the person's side. Thus, this paper proposes a smart medical mirror system that acts as a normal mirror and also delivers the basic vital signs of the user such as the heart rate, SPO2, body temperature, and Body Mass Index (BMI). The system takes five seconds for initialization and starts the measurements and displays the results. The user will not lose time as this check-up can be performed every morning while the person is wearing his clothes and getting ready to start his daily activities. The system was tested by multiple users having different body statuses. The recorded values showed very small differences with the exact ones. At the end, the system was able to meet the user specifications concerning its portability, sensitivity, accuracy and, most importantly, its low cost. © 2020 IEEE.

To remanufacture automobile systems, it is important to understand the future failure rate of the serially produced systems. In addition, remanufacturing departments need the information about the number of cores to remanufacture, the condition of these cores, as well as the number of replacement systems the market needs. Based on the existing univariate, bivariate and multivariate models a new improved forecasting model is developed, which considers practical factors like export of the vehicle to other countries, damage of the entire vehicle, reporting delay between production and in-market time or between vehicle failure and failure reporting time. This paper presents all necessary tools to achieve the improvement and its implementation in MATLAB. Copyright © 2019 European Safety and Reliability Association.

Nowadays the information of future rates of systems produced in series appears to be crucial to the production plan, especially for remanufacturing departments. Several questions need to be answered: the number of cores to remanufacture the condition of those cores as well as the number of replacement system the market requires. Based on a bivariate prognosis model, a multivariate model is developed to take more variables of stress in field into account. What's more, the fitting process has been optimized by using neural networks. This paper presents all necessary tools to perform a multivariate lifetime prognosis as well as the implementation in MATLAB. © 2019 European Safety and Reliability Association. This study leverages the capabilities of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models in forecasting global Monkeypox infections, thereby demonstrating the significant potential of advanced machine learning techniques in epidemiological forecasting. Our LSTM model effectively navigates the challenges posed by non-stationary time-series data, a common issue in epidemiological studies. It successfully captures the underlying patterns in the data, producing reliable forecasts. The model's performance was evaluated using several metrics, including RMSE, MSE, MAE, and R2, all of which pointed to its robust and satisfactory predictive capabilities. Our findings underscore the significant role LSTM models can play in informing the development of timely and effective disease control and prevention strategies. They thereby contribute to enhancing public health responses to emerging infectious diseases such as Monkeypox. However, despite the promising results, the study highlights the ongoing challenge of enhancing the interpretability of LSTM models, an area that warrants further research. As a future direction, efforts should focus on refining LSTM models to bolster their interpretability, ensuring their broader adoption and utility in public health practice. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of multi-cloud systems with an acceptable level of service delays that significantly affect the quality of the end-users experience is an open research problem, for which simulation is successfully used. This paper proposes a simulation model in Matlab for estimating the time to write data updates initiated by the end-users to the databases of all cloud service providers for a multi-cloud system with a geo-distributed middleware that implements, as an example, the VIP-grab data consistency protocol. The simulation results indicate that our model can be useful in choosing a data consistency protocol that influences the architecture of a multicloud system. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider the synchronous composition of Finite State Machines (FSMs) that corresponds to instantaneous communication of hardware components. Such FSMs can be deterministic or nondeterministic, partial or complete. We first extend the existing synchronous composition operator from a pair of components to a collection of components with multiple input and output ports, and provide a procedure to compute the composition working directly on the collection of transition tables of the component FSMs. Then, based on the notion of input-output Moore pair (the output is not sensitive to the input), we prove the following sufficient condition: if the composition has the property that every cycle of ports has a component with a Moore pair, then the class of quasi-complete and quasi-deterministic FSMs is closed under the proposed synchronous composition.

Input/Output (I/O) automata are widely used when deriving high quality tests for (components of) complex discrete systems based on so called distinguishing sequences. For I/O automata, the number of distinguishability relations is much bigger than for classical deterministic Finite State Machines (FSM). In order to avoid submitting the same test sequence several number of times, i.e., avoid the "all weather conditions" assumption, the separability relation can be considered. If two Input/Output automata are separable then there exists an input sequence such that after submitting this sequence and observing produced outputs it can be uniquely concluded which automaton is under testing. In this paper, we modify the discipline of applying input sequences and discuss the derivation of separating sequences for automata with mixed states, i.e., states where transitions both under inputs and under outputs are defined, as well as with cycles labeled by outputs. We also illustrate how an adaptive separating sequence can be derived when both automata are input-enabled.

State identification sequences, such as homing and distinguishing sequences (HS and DS), are widely used in FSM (Finite State Machine) based testing in order to reduce the size of a returned complete test suite as well as minimize checking efforts in passive testing. Preset HS are known to always exist for deterministic complete reduced FSMs but it is not the case for nondeterministic FSMs. It is also known that in this case, adaptive HS exist more often and usually are shorter than the preset. Nowadays, a number of specifications are represented by nondeterministic FSMs and thus, a deeper study of such sequences is required. There exist sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence of an adaptive HS for complete nondeterministic FSMs when each state can be an initial state but those conditions become only sufficient for weakly initialized FSMs where only some states are initial. In this paper, we propose sufficient and necessary conditions for a weakly initialized FSM to have an adaptive homing sequence, possibly up to given length, which are based on deriving an appropriate so-called homing FSM. The experimental evaluation of the existence of adaptive and preset HS is performed for randomly generated FSMs. © 2019 IEEE.

Integrating electrophysiological signals in larger systems is getting wider due to the fact that such modalities facilitate the daily tasks of users. However, the high cost of monitoring systems (e.g., oscilloscopes) limits the testing and analysis of the acquired signal from such noisy systems (i. e., electrophysiological devices). The proposed system is a part of a larger proj ect that deals with the identification of sign language movements through the use of Muscle-Computer Interfaces. On one hand, the user is able to display the signal acquired by the electrodes on an LCD screen. On the other hand, the system helps a mute patient to issue a special message to his surrounding environment that does not know the sign language to ask for help. The second feature is not unique, as it can be replaced by any other application based on the user's needs. The system was tested on several persons, and the results are promising. © 2022 IEEE.
