The emerging space-air-ground integrated network has attracted intensive research and necessitates reliable and efficient aeronautical communications. This paper investigates terahertz Ultra-Massive (UM)-MIMO-based aeronautical communications and proposes an effective channel estimation and tracking scheme, which can solve the performance degradation problem caused by the unique triple delay-beam-Doppler squint effects of aeronautical terahertz UM-MIMO channels. Specifically, based on the rough angle estimates acquired from navigation information, an initial aeronautical link is established, where the delay-beam squint at transceiver can be significantly mitigated by employing a Grouping True-Time Delay Unit (GTTDU) module (e.g., the designed Rotman lens-based GTTDU module). According to the proposed prior-aided iterative angle estimation algorithm, azimuth/elevation angles can be estimated, and these angles are adopted to achieve precise beam-alignment and refine GTTDU module for further eliminating delay-beam squint. Doppler shifts can be subsequently estimated using the proposed prior-aided iterative Doppler shift estimation algorithm. On this basis, path delays and channel gains can be estimated accurately, where the Doppler squint can be effectively attenuated via compensation process. For data transmission, a data-aided decision-directed based channel tracking algorithm is developed to track the beam-aligned effective channels. When the data-aided channel tracking is invalid, angles will be re-estimated at the pilot-aided channel tracking stage with an equivalent sparse digital array, where angle ambiguity can be resolved based on the previously estimated angles. Quantum tunneling phenomenon allows a high-barrier reaction to occur even though thermal energy is not sufficient to surmount the barrier. The phenomenon has been suggested to exist in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene which occured at 11 K. Here we study the quantum tunneling that occured in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde and to vinyl alcohol based on density functional calculations. The isomerization pathways are determined under the effect of various solvents which are modeled by polarizable continuum model (PCM). We use Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation to calculate the tunneling probability (T) and extend the usefulness of T into isomerization rate. The results show that the solvents give a significant effect on the isomerization rate of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde but an insignificant one on the isomerization rate to vinyl alcohol. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. Studies involving nanomechanical motion have evolved from its detection and understanding of its fundamental aspects to its promising practical utility as an integral component of hybrid systems. Nanomechanical resonators’ indispensable role as transducers between optical and microwave fields in hybrid systems, such as quantum communications interface, have elevated their importance in recent years. It is therefore crucial to determine which among the family of nanomechanical resonators is more suitable for this role. Most of the studies revolve around nanomechanical resonators of ultrathin structures because of their inherently large mechanical amplitude due to their very low mass. Here, we argue that the underutilized nanomechanical resonators made from multilayered two-dimensional (2D) materials are the better fit for this role because of their comparable electrostatic tunability and larger optomechanical responsivity. To show this, we first demonstrate the electrostatic tunability of mechanical modes of a multilayered nanomechanical resonator made from graphite. We also show that the optomechanical responsivity of multilayered devices will always be superior as compared to the few-layer devices. Finally, by using the multilayered model and comparing this device with the reported ones, we find that the electrostatic tunability of devices of intermediate thickness is not significantly lower than that of ultrathin ones. Together with the practicality in terms of fabrication ease and design predictability, we contend that multilayered 2D nanomechanical resonators are the optimal choice for the electromagnetic interface in integrated quantum systems. © 2021, CC BY.

Displacement calibration of nanomechanical plate resonators presents a challenging task. Large nanomechanical resonator thickness reduces the amplitude of the resonator motion due to its increased spring constant and mass, and its unique reflectance. Here, we show that the plate thickness, resonator gap height, and motional amplitude of circular and elliptical drum resonators, can be determined in-situ by exploiting the fundamental interference phenomenon in Fabry-Perot cavities. The proposed calibration scheme uses optical contrasts to uncover thickness and spacer height profiles, and reuse the results to convert the photodetector signal to the displacement of drumheads that are electromotively driven in their linear regime. Calibrated frequency response and spatial mode maps enable extraction of the modal radius, effective mass, effective driving force and Young’s elastic modulus of the drumhead material. This scheme is applicable to any configuration of Fabry-Perot cavities, including plate and membrane resonators. © 2021, CC BY.

Environmental approaches play an active role in the production platform as well as in the supply chain. Studies that deal with supplier selection problems in the supply chain with a green focus have recently intensified. In this research, the supplier selection problem of companies providing "last mile" service, which is seen as the last step of transportation, is handled with a green focus. The supplier selection problem of these companies is differentiated according to strategic and non-strategic product groups. In this study, a green-oriented supplier selection proposal is presented for both the strategic product group and the non-strategic product group. The supplier selection problem is accepted as a multi-criteria decision making problem (MCDM). Thus, the type-2 neutrosophic numbers (T2NNs) - based CRiteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation (CRITIC) – based Multi-Attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison (-MABAC) hybrid model is applied to evaluate the green-oriented supplier. The motivation of the study is to determine the best alternative supplier type for strategic and non-strategic products groups. In this context, two cases are created, ten criteria are selected, and three supplier types are determined. Supplier types are as follows: (i) Classical suppliers, (ii) Classical to green centric suppliers, and (iii) Start-Ups & green centric suppliers. In addition, the findings are strengthened by creating twenty-two sensitivity analysis scenarios. As a result of the research, solution proposals for both product groups of the last mile service company are developed. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Recently, there has been a significant interest in the application of SnS 2 /MoS 2 2D nanostructure composites in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their advantageous conversion, intercalation, and alloying reactions, leading to high capacity during charge and discharge cycles. In this study, we successfully synthesized SnS 2 /MoS 2 composites with a 2D-nanoplate morphology using a single-step hydrothermal method. Specifically, the optimized SnS 2 /MoS 2 -3:1 composite was tested as anodes in coin cell LIBs, demonstrating an impressive capacity of 710 mAh/g at a current density of 500 mA/g, along with outstanding stability (800 cycles) and remarkable rate capability compared to other composites. The excellent electrochemical performance of the SnS 2 /MoS 2 -3:1 composite can be attributed to the moderately coupled SnS 2 and MoS 2 2D-nanosheets, which provide short lithium-ion transportation lengths, low charge transfer resistance, and dominant capacitive behavior.

In the development of sustainable lithium-ion batteries, achieving the efficient and cost-effective recycling of all components, particularly spent graphite (SG) anodes, has become a critical requirement. While considerable efforts have been devoted to recovering and reusing SG materials under conventional conditions, limited attention has been given to recycling under extreme conditions. This review systematically elucidates the main failure mechanisms of graphite anodes, including lithium plating and dendrite formation, solid electrolyte interface film failure, structural degradation, and current collector corrosion, with a particular focus on low-temperature and fast-charging conditions. As a contribution toward optimizing resource utilization, this review comprehensively summarizes the industrial perspective on strategies for recycling SG anodes, which aim to produce high-purity regenerated graphite (RG) powders. We also analyze current methods for modifying RG, such as structural reconstruction and surface reconditioning, to bring added value to modified RG materials. A detailed examination of the technical challenges in SG recycling and RG upgrading is presented, offering guidance for the future development of graphite upcycling technologies. This review also provides valuable insights into achieving high efficiency, intelligence, and sustainability in graphite utilization.

Modeling the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in East Java using negative binomial regression based on least square spline estimator

The East Java Province has experienced a significant surge in number of confirmed cases of COVID-19. This study endeavors to investigate the potential correlation between weather conditions and the incidence of number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in East Java. To achieve this, a nonparametric regression model, specifically, the Negative Binomial Regression (NBR) model based on the least squares spline estimator, was utilized. The outcomes of the study indicate that the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of nonparametic regression model is 0.30. Meanwhile, the MAPE for the parametric regression model is 0.34. The results show that a nonparametric regression model approach is better than parametric regression model approach. The study establishes that the truncated spline estimator based NBR model represents the best fit, with an MLCV value of -256.71. The findings of the study suggest that a temperature less than 21.75°C is associated with a decrease of 13.28 number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per each 1°C increase, while a temperature between 21.75°C and 25.78°C is linked to an increase of 6.85 number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per each 1°C increase. In contrast, a temperature greater than 25.78°C is associated with a decrease of 139.42 number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per each 1°C increase. Similarly, a wind speed less than 5.57 m/s is related to a decrease of 12.99 number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per each 1 m/s increase, whereas a wind speed between 5.57 m/s and 8.99 m/s is associated with a decrease of 10.29 number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per each 1 m/s increase. Furthermore, a wind speed greater than 8.99 m/s is linked to a decrease of 19.16 number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 per each 1 m/s increase. The study provides evidence that higher temperatures and wind speeds result in a slower rise in the incidence of the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19. Handwriting prediction using the support vector machine method in web-based applications

Current technological advances have progressively encouraged individuals to use web-based applications. To determine the owner of a handwriting, one of the manual methods is generally done by people. And it can be done by a web application to find out the person’s handwriting. The Support Vector Machine (SVM) Method is a strategy of artificial intelligence used to recognize handwriting. This study intends to create a handwriting recognition framework using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) Method on a web-based application, with extraction features that are important as the basis for describing and characterizing handwritten images. The results obtained from predictions using the Support Vector Machine are by using 16 data and there are 80 tests carried out in total. The results obtained indicate that there are 25 incorrect prediction tests and 55 correct prediction tests so that the level of accuracy obtained is 68.75%.
