Improvement of ferroelectric property by Lanthanum (La)-doping of BiFeO3 (BFO) and strain effect of high quality superlattice films deposited at temperature â‰§ 700 C was shown in this study. The in-pane (200) radial scans showed that films at deposition temperature above 700 C behaved high strained ∼-1.4% and showed epitaxity properties. The La-doped BFO superlattice structure also behaved higher polarization value ∼ 197 μC/cm2 and lower leakage current density comparing with BFO superlattice structure shown in our previous study. The ferroelectric properties of superlattice structures are enhanced by lattice strain and strongly correlated with the defect state of films. © 2012 Elsevier B.V.

The Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) of a quadrotor vehicle, which is described by a nonlinear model, are tackled in this paper. The nonlinear identity observer is utilized to detect the various types of sensors faults, and the Generalized Observer Scheme (GOS) is used to isolate the faulty sensor. The robustness of the observer and its scheme is investigated through several simulation results to build the Decision- Making Unit (DMU) for the residuals. Various simulation results have validated the FDI method and shown the system performance towards different fault scenarios.

To investigate the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes (T2D) to high resolution, the GoT2D and T2D-GENES consortia catalogued variation from whole-genome sequencing of 2,657 European individuals and exome sequencing of 12,940 individuals of multiple ancestries. Over 27M SNPs, indels, and structural variants were identified, including 99% of low-frequency (minor allele frequency [MAF] 0.1-5%) non-coding variants in the whole-genome sequenced individuals and 99.7% of low-frequency coding variants in the whole-exome sequenced individuals. Each variant was tested for association with T2D in the sequenced individuals, and, to increase power, most were tested in larger numbers of individuals (>80% of low-frequency coding variants in ~82 K Europeans via the exome chip, and ~90% of low-frequency non-coding variants in ~44 K Europeans via genotype imputation). The variants, genotypes, and association statistics from these analyses provide the largest reference to date of human genetic information relevant to T2D, for use in activities such as T2D-focused genotype imputation, functional characterization of variants or genes, and other novel analyses to detect associations between sequence variation and T2D.

Miniaturized biosensors and bioanalytical systems promise to revolutionize the field of health care and personalized medicine,in light of sample reduction,speed,and ***,mass transport has generally been recognized as a major limiting factor in the sensitivity and performance of miniaturized sensor platforms in that miniaturization poses penalties on passive transport of biomolecules to the sensor surface due to prolonged diffusion length from the bulk liquid or in the direction of the fluidic ***,for low-abundance protein analysis,sample enrichment is often regarded as the first prerequisite for high-resolution analysis,since chemical amplification methods are not readily available for *** factors pose major challenges for early or acute disease diagnostics and biomarker discovery using micro- or nanoscale sensor *** tackle these challenges,we developed nanofluidic and nanoelectronic platforms for the active transport of target analytes to the sensing *** example,nanoscale molecular dam,using nanoconstriction as field-focusing lens to enhance mass transport,may be used for ultrafast protein enrichment in nanofluidic channels by electrodeless dielectrophoresis [1] under physiological buffer conditions [2-4].On the other hand,sub-10 nm electrode nanogap may be used as an active molecular trap for SERS and tunneling current measurements for low-copy number protein analysis,potentially down to single-molecule *** platforms may open up a simple way for heterogeneous protein analysis.

Nowadays, the growth of IT business are highly competitive both of development process and functionality of software to meet mostly customer requirements. Normally, software performance should develop to increase the high quality whilst it should reduce both of the cost and the time. The IT business is to start the attention with satisfaction of the customer for expanding opportunities of grown business. The problem of former software development is an operation under the pressure conditions affecting to see more bugs of the software in a period of testing system and delivering the program to the required customer. This paper presents an implementation of approach which is an agile development (If what we do that able to modify the code to meet the requirement in the future, that's call agile.) using Test Driven Development (TDD) in automation testing framework for software development process. It helps optimization of software testing as it can found early bug, flexible for requirement changes in the future, either to increase or change requirement without any effect on coding behavior. It also helps to reduce cost of software development as a human resource, time and rapid feedback of test result. We apply this approach with prototype in software development processes using the Point of care testing (POCT) system which is as an example to create test case with black-box and white-box testing techniques based on the requirements specification to improve more product quality.

The Deep Ore Zone (DOZ) is the underground (UG) mine which is located on the East ErstbergSkarn system (EESS) of Grasberg-Ertzberg Au-Cu district in Tembagapura Papua. The DOZ mine is operated by block cave mine method with average of daily production is 80 ktpd ore. Geological information is the important information required for planning, developing, and monitoring the underground mine. This project was initiated in 2007 using the commercial database management software. The objective of the project is to establish the common and centralized underground geology data as well as improve the information transparency. Geological data recording in every draw points is to collect information of rock types proportion, grade and dilution estimates, water condition, clay contents. Solid data integration would help in 3D block model versus the drawn material reconciliation as well as mine planning processes. The first phase of UG geology database management system was successfully to accelerate the creation of routine geological report and improve data and report quality. The second phase of this project was designed to integrate the geo-science data for UG operation support. The paper will be devoted to the management system of geological data collected from production in order to map the characteristics of rock. This may subsequently be used in order to improve all processes including mine planning, production scheduler, draw order, mud rush potential anticipation and mud rush mitigation.

We argue here that, in recent years, the world's financial markets have become a globally interconnected complex adaptive ultra-large-scale socio-technical system-of-systems, and that this has important consequences for how the financial markets should be engineered and managed in future. Major failures in the financial markets can now occur at super-human speeds, as was witnessed in the "Flash Crash" of May 6th 2010. Events such as the Flash Crash may become more commonplace in future, unless lessons are learned from other fields where complex adaptive socio-technical systems-of-systems have to be engineered for high-integrity, safety-critical applications. In this document we review the literature on failures in risky technology and high-integrity approaches to safety-critical SoS engineering. We conclude with an argument that, in the specific case of the global financial markets, there is an urgent need to develop major national strategic modeling and predictive simulation capabilities, comparable to national-scale meteorological monitoring and modeling capabilities. The intent here is not to predict the price-movements of particular financial instruments or asset classes, but rather to provide test-rigs for principled evaluation of systemic risk, estimating probability density functions over spaces of possible outcomes, and thereby identifying potentially high-consequence failure modes in the simulations, before they occur in real life, by which time it is typically too late. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
