A glaucoma drainage device for the regulation of intraocular pressure is presented. The device consists of three biocompatible polymer layers: the cover (top layer), the diaphragm (intermediate layer), and the baseplate with a cannular (bottom layer). Finite element analyses (FEA) were performed to find optimal design parameters for the targeted cracking pressure: the diameter of orifice, the thickness of intermediate layer, the width of the channel, and the overlapped length of the orifice over valve seat. Top and bottom layers were made by polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) replica molding process, and an intermediate thin layer with through-holes was fabricated by PDMS fill-in molding method and hydrophobic treatment. The overlapped area of the bottom layer was coated with Cr and Au by using PDMS as a shadow mask. Metal layers are not to be bonded between the bottom and the intermediate layers so that the device showed the enhanced reliability in operation and the higher yield in production. Oxygen plasma treatment was performed for irreversible bonds between separate three PDMS layers. The experimental cracking pressure of the fabricated valve was 2.50 kPa, which is very close to the target value (2.67 kPa). The experiments showed that the proposed polymer check valve can regulate the pressure of the aqueous humour, fluid in an anterior chamber, within the normal intraocular pressure range (15-20mmHg) with a high repeatability.

Organizations have been relying on collaboration for productivity improvement and knowledge sharing. The first step to foster collaboration in organizations is to make it explicit. With this aim, the Collaboration Maturity Model (CollabMM) was proposed and evaluated. The lessons learned during model applications in previous work pointed out the need to review both the model and its evaluation instruments. A literature review also showed some improvement opportunities. Therefore, the objective of this work is to develop a roadmap to highlight the main opportunities of evolution in CollabMM. These opportunities will compose our research agenda in this topic and guide future work.

Software development is a series of processes activity involving more than one person, especially in medium to large software projects. Each activity of software development is carried out by various combination of different individual. Collaboration occurs in every phase of the process software development. The right team collaboration method is one of the important things in success software development. This research is focused to develop collaboration model of software development to meet time schedule, budget, scope, and software quality. The collaboration model of software development is generated from survey of collaboration method (about face to face and virtual collaboration) and software development methodology especially agile methodology. The direct collaboration was used in the software specification processes, and combination (with a direct and virtual) collaboration was used during software design, implementation, and validation. Team coordination in every process of software development was done with face to face method. The same artifacts were used in this collaboration model with some collaboration software tools. Combination between face to face and virtual communication was used in this model. The model is implemented in small case software development project. During the software development, some measurement is carried out. The measurement included the measurement of project completion time, cost, software specification, and software quality. The software is developed in time schedule (two months), cost under budged, and meet specification. In addition, the software has built a fairly good quality. Thus, this collaboration model good use in software development to achieved accuracy of schedule, cost, scope, and quality.

This paper describes a largely deformable surface electrode based on poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate, including its fabrication, electrochemical characterization, adhesion test, and bending test results. The fabricated electrode is made of both PDMS and parylene C layers, which are completely attached to each other. Between the two parylene layers gold patterns are located in the mechanical neutral plane. In the fabrication process, PDMS is supported by parylene layer when the metal layer is sputter deposited, resulting in no cracks. The electrode provides highly deformable neural electrode structure with mechanical integrity and electrical stability. With these advantages, it is expected to be suitable in stable neural recording and stimulation.

Photoplethysmographic (PPG) signal can provide important information about cardiovascular and respiratory conditions of individuals in a hospital or daily life. However, PPG can be distorted by motion artifacts significantly. Therefore, the reduction of the effects of motion artifacts is very important procedure for monitoring cardio-respiratory system by PPG. There have been many adaptive techniques to reduce motion artifacts from PPG signal including normalized least mean squares (NLMS) method, recursive least squares (RLS) filter, and Kalman filter. In the present study, we propose the adaptive comb filter (ACF) for reducing the effects of motion artifacts from PPG signal. ACF with adaptive lattice infinite impulse response (IIR) notch filter (ALNF) successfully reduced the motion artifacts from the quasi-periodic PPG signal.
