A finite-time protocol for a multi-agent systems (MASs) can guarantee the convergence of every agent in a finite time interval in contrast to the asymptotic convergence, but the settling time depends on the initial condition and design parameters and is inconsistent across the agents. In this paper, we study the prescribed-time cooperative output regulation (PTCOR) problem for a class of linear heterogeneous MASs under a directed communication graph, where the settling time of every agent can be specified a priori and thus consistent. As a special case of PTCOR, the necessary and sufficient condition for prescribed-time output regulation of an individual system is first discussed. Then, the PTCOR problem is converted into two cascaded subsystem, where the first one composed of distributed estimate errors and local estimate errors and the second one is for local tracking errors. The criterion for prescribed-time stabilization of the cascaded system is proposed and is found to be different from that of traditional asymptotic stabilization of a cascaded system. Under the criterion and sufficient condition, the general PTCOR problem is studied in two scenarios including state feedback control and measurement output feedback control. In particular, a distributed prescribed-time observer for each subsystem is explicitly constructed to estimate the exosystem's state. This paper is concerned with the semi-global output synchronization problem of a heterogeneous network under self-triggered control. A distributed self-triggered control scheme in which only local information is used to compute the triggering instants is proposed. In addition, the Zeno behavior can be excluded in the designed scheme. By adopting the low-gain technique, it is shown that the input saturation nonlinearity can be avoided if the parameter of the parameterized feedback gain is chosen small enough. The algorithm for implementing the self-triggered rule is also presented in the paper.

In medical image analysis, the demand for interpretable deep neural networks is rapidly growing. However, a major challenge is that most existing interpretative methods are applied after training, leading to a lack of integration with the model's learning process. As a result, these methods often fail to highlight regions within complex medical images critical for decision-making, such as abnormal tissues or lesions, which are essential for accurate diagnoses and treatment planning. This paper introduces Guided Visual Interpretation (GVI), a framework designed to enhance both the performance and interpretability of deep networks. Building on a deep network model with image-level labels, GVI incorporates a small amount of pixel-level annotations combined with attention mechanisms. These mechanisms facilitate visual interpretation through forward propagation, directing the model's focus to the most relevant regions. By aligning the network's decision-making with human cognitive processes, GVI improves interpretability. In our study, an attention layer was added after the convolutional layers of a pre-trained classification network. GVI is trained using a hybrid supervision approach that integrates pixel-level annotations with a large amount of image-level data. Experimental results on both private and public datasets show that GVI generates visual explanations consistent with human decision-making principles and achieves superior classification accuracy compared to traditional methods. These findings highlight GVI's potential to improve interpretability and diagnostic performance in critical fields like medical imaging. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The emerging technology terahertz (THz) communication is envisioned to provide high-data-rate links. For the design of THz communication system, an accurate channel model is unavoidable. As a typical representative of deterministic models, ray-tracing (RT) method based on optical theory is relevant to the physical properties of THz waves. In this study, with the consideration of real-world use, two cases are made for vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and drone communications. These two cases represent two ends of THz mobile communications from terrestrial to aerial one. The V2I channel is analyzed with the aid of RT. The Doppler effect caused by moving vehicles will be a great challenge for the system design. As for the drone communications, the channel model should consider three-dimensional characteristics, including scenario, velocity, trajectory, antenna pattern, etc. The provided brief survey on the two most relevant scenarios for smart mobility will be foundation for the THz channel modeling.

A Cooperation-Aware Lane Change Method for Autonomous Vehicles

Lane change for autonomous vehicles (AVs) is an important but challenging task in complex dynamic traffic environments. Due to difficulties in guarantee safety as well as a high efficiency, AVs are inclined to choose relatively conservative strategies for lane change. To avoid the conservatism, this paper presents a cooperation-aware lane change method utilizing interactions between vehicles. We first propose an interactive trajectory prediction method to explore possible cooperations between an AV and the others. Further, an evaluation is designed to make a decision on lane change, in which safety, efficiency and comfort are taken into consideration. Thereafter, we propose a motion planning algorithm based on model predictive control (MPC), which incorporates AV’s decision and surrounding vehicles’ interactive behaviors into constraints so as to avoid collisions during lane change. Quantitative testing results show that compared with the methods without an interactive prediction, our method enhances driving efficiencies of the AV and other vehicles by 14.8% and 2.6% respectively, which indicates that a proper utilization of vehicle interactions can effectively reduce the conservatism of the AV and promote the cooperation between the AV and others. Accurate fault detection and classification help to analyze fault causes and quickly restore faulty phases. This paper presents a robust fault classification method based on SA-MobileNetV3 for transmission systems. Considering that the SE (Squeeze-and-Excitation) attention module cannot aggregate the spatial dimension information on the channel, SA (shuffle attention) module is introduced into MobileNetV3, which can effectively fuse the importance of pixels in different channels and in different locations at the same channel. Also, transforming the signals into two dimensional images based on CWT (continuous wavelet transform) makes the proposed method be similar to image recognition, which can mine high level fault features and classify the faults visually. To verify the effectiveness of the method, a 735kV transmission line model is built for data generation through Simulink. Various kinds of fault conditions and factors are considered to verify the adaptability and generalizability. Simulation results show that the method can quickly and accurately identify 11 types of faults, and the accuracy rate is as high as 99.90%. A comparison between the proposed method and other existing techniques shows the superiority of the proposed SA- MobileNetV3, and better anti-noise performance makes it more suitable for real fault signals taken on-site. © 2022, The Authors. Efficient recognition of proprietary entities is an important basic work for text data mining and intelligent application in power *** power domain Named Entity Recognition(NER) methods rely on feature engineering seriously,which unable to learn power entity features *** order to learn entity features automatically and extract power domain named entities efficiently,a model based on Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Neural Networks(Bi-LSTM) and Conditional Random Field(CRF) was proposed in this *** representations were fed into the neural networks as an additional feature and Skip-gram embeddings were trained on power domain *** results showed the precision rate reaches higher than 88.25% and the recalling rate reaches higher than 88.04%,which confirm the method based on BiLSTM and CRF is effective for named entity recognition in the power domain.

Optimal power management of shipboard power system for failure mode (OPMSF) is a significant and challenging problem considering the safety of system and person. Many existing works focused on the transient-time recovery without consideration of the operating cost and the voyage plan. In this paper, the OPMSF problem is formulated considering the mid-time scheduling and the faults at bus and generator. Two-side adjustment methods including the load shedding and the reconfiguration are coordinated for reducing the fault effects. To address the formulated non-convex problem, the travel equality constraint and fractional energy efficiency operation indicator (EEOI) limitation are transformed into the convex forms. Then, considering the infeasibility scenario affected by faults, a further relaxation is adopted to formulate a new problem with feasibility guaranteed. Furthermore, a sufficient condition is derived to ensure that the new problem has the same optimal solution as the original one. Because of the mixed-integer nonlinear feature, an optimal management algorithm based on Benders decomposition (BD) is developed to solve the new one. Due to the slow convergence caused by the time-coupled constraints, a low-complexity near-optimal algorithm based on BD (LNBD) is proposed. The construction of Polar code algorithm using reliability can be proved to be optimal under successive cancellation (SC) decoding algorithm, but for successive cancellation list (SCL) decoding algorithm, the construction method using reliability alone is not optimal. Based on the existing reliability construction method, this paper proposes a Polar code construction scheme which takes reliability and code spectrum into consideration, designs a new coding rule, and reduces the bit error rate (BER) without significantly increasing the coding complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the original Polar code construction algorithm in SCL decoding.

Role of Black Carbon in Modulating Aerosol Direct Effects Driven by Air Pollution controls During 2013-2017 in China

Aerosol direct effects (ADEs) can modulate shortwave radiation as well as atmospheric dynamics and air quality. As the key absorbing component of aerosol, the black carbon (BC) largely determines the aerosol optical properties. Therefore, it is expected that BC emission controls might gain co-benefits from the simultaneous reduction of ADEs. To demonstrate such synergy, we quantified the ADEs changes and role of BC controls in China during 2013-2017 using a regional two-way coupled meteorology chemistry transport model. Results suggest that the control action effectively reduced wintertime PM2.5 concentration (-26.0 μg m-3) and associated ADEs. The influence of ADEs on surface shortwave radiation, 2-meter temperature, and planetary boundary layer height was weakened from -16.7 W m-2, -0.20°C, and -15.4 m in 2013 to -11.3 W m-2, -0.06°C, and -10.7 m in 2017, respectively. The enhancement of SO2, NO2, and PM2.5 concentrations due to ADEs was reduced from +3.1%, +5.2%, and +5.4% in 2013, to +2.6%, +4.5%, and +3.3% in 2017, respectively, demonstrating the extra benefit of air pollution controls by reducing ADEs. The BC emission reduced by 12.5% simultaneously along with the effective controls during 2013-2017. Such BC controls contributes 15.6-60.2% of such changes in the ADEs influence on meteorological variables, and 32.6-41.1% on air pollutants. More specially, the effectiveness of collaborative reduction of BC further reduced surface shortwave radiation in China by 3.6 W m-2 in January and 1.0 W m-2 in July, leading to a more weakened ADEs that bring extra benefits in reducing PM2.5 concentrations by 1.8 μg m-3 in January and 0.3 μg m-3 in July. Apparently, BC played a dominant role in modulating the ADEs and associated influences on meteorology and air quality, suggesting a wise control strategy by targeting absorbing component of PM2.5 reduction to address both air pollution and climate change in the future. © 2022, The Authors.
