In recent years, soft grippers have gained significant attention due to their adaptability and safety. However, when performing horizontal object grasping, their limited structural stiffness prevents them from withstanding the torque generated by friction between the gripper and the object, leading to a loss of contact and limiting their horizontal load capacity. To address this limitation while preserving the adaptability of soft grippers, this paper proposes a gripper structure called the rigid-soft robotic hand, which incorporates lateral rigid connecting rods outside the soft joints. The paper analyzes the bending capacity of the rigid-soft joint using kinematic methods and investigates the influence of link design parameters on maximum bending angle. Subsequently, a finite element analysis is conducted to study the finger structure with the added connecting rods, aiming to optimize the link design parameters. Experimental results demonstrate the grasping capabilities of the rigid-soft gripper in both vertical and horizontal orientations. The findings show that the rigid-soft gripper significantly improves the load-carrying capacity during horizontal object grasping while maintaining the adaptability of the soft gripper. © The Authors.

Emotional space refers to a multi-dimensional emotional model that describes a group of subjective feelings or emotions. Since the existing discrete emotional space is mainly aimed at human’s primary emotions, it cannot describe the complex emotions evoked when watching movies. In order to solve this problem, an emotional fusion space for videos was constructed by selecting movies and TV dramas with rich emotional semantics as the research objects. Firstly, emotional words based on movie and TV drama videos are acquired and analyzed by using subjective evaluation and semantic analysis methods. Then, the emotional word vectors obtained from the above analysis are fused, reduced dimension by t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding(t-SNE) algorithm, and clustered by bisecting K-means clustering algorithm to get a discrete emotional space for movie and TV drama videos. This emotional fusion space can obtain different categories by changing the value of the emotion classification number without re-labeling and calculation.

This paper examines the potential for leveraging the order dispatch algorithm in the commercial domain to enhance the intelligent allocation of military combat tasks, thereby improving the speed and accuracy of command decision-making in the context of intelligent warfare. The study proposes an "order-based" command and control model, which aims to overcome the efficiency bottleneck and information lag problem in traditional combat task allocation. The algorithmic design incorporates multi-dimensional association rules and similarity matching algorithms to guarantee the optimal matching of combat tasks and resources, thereby achieving the objectives of rapid response, efficient resource utilization, and enhanced combat effectiveness. This paper focuses on the challenges and advantages of this model in the context of naval warfare. It highlights the strategic value of order-based command and control in non-direct confrontation missions, such as reconnaissance, patrol, and intelligence gathering. The utilization of the "combat cloud," artificial intelligence, and a highly integrated command network enables the precise allocation of resources and the rapid execution of tasks. This, in turn, enhances the ISR capability, network-centered warfare effectiveness, and cross-domain synergistic warfare capability in naval warfare. The study also delineates the specific implementation process of the algorithm, which includes multi-dimensional association rule mining and similarity matching based on historical cases, with the objective of generating optimal combat scenarios and ensuring the effective execution of task orders. © 2025 SPIE.

As the demand for drive quality in automotive hub motors is increasing, the need for reduced cogging torque is also increasing. In this paper, the cogging torque of a soft magnetic composite (SMC) based yokeless and Segmented Armature (YASA) Axial Field Permanent Magnet Motor is investigated. Three models of YASA motor with skewed stator slot, segmented shift and unequal stator slot width are developed and the cogging torque waveforms of the three stator topologies are analyzed and compared. The output performance of the motor with the three topologies was analyzed by 3D finite element simulation, including no-load back EMF, electromagnetic torque and torque ripple, and axial magnetic force. The results show that all three stator topologies can effectively reduce the cogging torque and torque ripple in the YASA motor. Compared with the pre-optimization structure, the output torque of the skewed stator slot and segmented shift stator structure decreases more, while the output torque of the unequal stator slot width structure remains almost the same. Meanwhile, the axial magnetic force is almost constant before and after the optimization of the three stator topologies. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd.

The structure of the variable stator vane (VSV) mechanism in aero-engines is complex. It is of great significance to investigate the dynamic response and force under aerodynamic loads and high-temperature conditions through experimental study. Based on the prototype of the VSV mechanism, a principle-level mechanism is designed by extracting typical motion components, and design schemes are proposed to simulate its motion functionality, drive system, aerodynamic load, and temperature condition simulation. Using the constructed principle-level experimental system, an experimental study is conducted on the motion function and dynamic response of the mechanism, as well as the driving torque under aerodynamic loads and high-temperature conditions. The results show that the designed principle-level experimental system can effectively simulate the adjustment process of VSV, as well as simulate aerodynamic loads and temperature conditions. The magnitude of aerodynamic load exerts the most substantial impact on the driving force of the mechanism, and there is an approximate linear relationship between the driving torque and radial load. The influence of temperature on the mechanism cannot be ignored, as evidenced by a marked increase in driving torque when the temperature rises to 200 °C. The driving speed also affects the driving force of the mechanism. Increasing the vane rotation speed during continuous adjustment reduces the driving torque but also decreases the stability of the mechanism. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The paper adopted the turbulence model of Wall-Model Large Eddy Simulation with improved algebraic form (WMLES S-Omega) to carry out the study on the fluid exciting force on impeller of high-speed centrifugal pump under the conditions of Poiseuille inflow and uniform inflow. The external characteristics and the vibration displacement of the shaft of high-speed centrifugal pump are tested. The results indicated that it is the high matching that the test and numerical external data of high-speed centrifugal pump under the condition of Poiseuille inflow. The test results of vibration displacement of shaft match the fluid exciting force better in terms of waveform and phase difference under the condition of Poiseuille inflow. The contribution degree of force and torque from the shroud inner surface in the X and Y direction is 76.3%, 80.7%, 79.5% and 85% of the resultant force and torque, and its force from the inner and outer surfaces of shroud and hub in the Z direction is 94.3%, and its torque from blades' surfaces in the Z direction is 98.3%. The study results can provide some theoretical support for the research of fluid exciting force and hydraulic optimization design of centrifugal pump. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. Aiming at the problem that the current depth estimation of single image mostly uses the ground public data set, and there is less research on aerial images, this paper uses the collected visible and infrared aerial image data sets to study the depth estimation. We used FCRN and LapDRN to extract the depth estimation results of visible aerial image and infrared aerial image under global and single object respectively, and compared the results extracted from the two types of networks by qualitative and quantitative methods. The results show that the depth estimation accuracy of visible aerial image is higher than that of infrared image, but the increase rate of infrared image accuracy index is higher than the increase rate of image depth range. The image depth estimation results extracted by LapDRN method are superior to FCRN in accuracy, structure consistency and edge clarity, which indicates that LapDRN is more effective in the estimation of aerial image depth information. © 2023 IEEE.

With the acceleration of modernization and the rapid development of popular music, the splendid culture of Guqin, a type of Chinese traditional musical instrument which has lasted for nearly 1,000 years, is facing a serious inheritance crisis. Therefore, how to make full use of modern technical means to digitally store and manage the valuable traditional music cultural resources is the current *** response to the aforementioned challenges, this study focuses on the Guqin, an emblematic Chinese traditional musical instrument. By employing advanced audio feature extraction techniques, this research systematically analyzes the diverse playing techniques of Guqin, thereby establishing a comprehensive acoustic dataset. This endeavor not only facilitates the digital preservation and management of the Guqin's musical heritage but also pioneers a standardized framework for the creation of acoustic datasets. This framework serves as a benchmark for the development of similar datasets, thereby promoting the conservation and standardization of resources associated with Chinese traditional musical instruments. This will provide a scientific basis for the inheritance, standardized management and construction of more acoustic datasets of ethnic musical instruments in the future. © 2024 IEEE.

The Binary and Ternary Quantization Can Improve Feature Discrimination

In machine learning, quantization is widely used to simplify data representation and facilitate algorithm deployment on hardware. Given the fundamental role of classification in machine learning, it is crucial to investigate the impact of quantization on classification. Current research primarily focuses on quantization errors, operating under the premise that higher quantization errors generally result in lower classification performance. However, this premise lacks a solid theoretical foundation and often contradicts empirical findings. For instance, certain extremely low bit-width quantization methods, such as {0, 1}-binary quantization and {0, ±1}-ternary quantization, can achieve comparable or even superior classification accuracy compared to the original non-quantized data, despite exhibiting high quantization errors. To more accurately evaluate classification performance, we propose to directly investigate the feature discrimination of quantized data, instead of analyzing its quantization error. Interestingly, it is found that both binary and ternary quantization methods can improve, rather than degrade, the feature discrimination of the original data. This remarkable performance is validated through classification experiments across various data types, including images, speech, and texts. © 2025, CC BY.
