Taking underwater robots project as an example, this paper discusses the innovation of the teaching mode of engineering drawing courses under the guidance of a project. The traditional engineering drawing course often lacks the link of practice and project application, which leads to the lack of students’ understanding and application ability of the course content. Therefore, this study proposes a teaching mode based on project guidance. By using underwater robots as teaching cases, theoretical knowledge and practical application are combined to promote the cultivation of students’ comprehensive abilities. This paper first reviews the research progress in related fields, then introduces the design and implementation methods of the teaching mode in detail, and analyzes the actual effect of the model through the underwater robot case. The results show that the teaching mode of engineering drawing courses under the guidance of the project has a positive impact on students’ learning interest, practical ability and teamwork ability. The results of this study will provide practical and feasible solutions for the innovation of the teaching mode of engineering drawing courses, and also provide a reference for the reform of undergraduate teaching mode in the construction of "New engineering Education". © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

With the further development of "double high" characteristics of power system, the traditional stability problem dominated by synchronous generator has gradually evolved into a new stability problem dominated by power electronic equipment control. In addition, different types of failure problems can occur in wind power systems. In order to achieve multi-objective coordinated and stable operation of high proportion wind power system, a damping control method with parameters tuning is proposed, which includes the design of filtering link and proportional amplification link. Among them, the key parameters of the proportional link are adjusted. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed control method is verified by simulation tests. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. DC grids utilizing MMC-HVDC technology have been extensively researched and implemented in various locations, demonstrating substantial benefits in terms of system flexibility and renewable energy integration. Due to the rapid escalation of fault currents, DC line protections must quickly identify and isolate faults, typically within milliseconds, leading to the adoption of non-unit methods as the primary protection. This paper introduces a non-unit protection scheme that employs transient voltage at both the line-side and converter-side of the supplemental inductor. Based on a reduced model focusing on the boundary of a DC line, the transient process of the fault is examined using traveling wave theory, and the voltage characteristics at both ends of the supplemental inductor are scrutinized. The theoretical analysis also brings out a practical method for threshold-value calculation. Then, a protection criterion, based on wavelet analysis of the transient voltage, is established. This proposed method is capable of fulfilling the requirements for speed, selectivity and fault resistance and has been verified through PSCAD/EMTDC simulations.

This paper explores the innovation of teaching mode of image processing and machine vision courses under project orientation. Traditional image processing courses always lack a proper practical application, leading to some difficulties for students to understand the theoretical knowledge and apply the course content. Therefore, in order to better develop students' abilities in various aspects, this study takes the intelligent diagnosis of lung nodules as an example, and organically combines the theoretical knowledge in the textbook with the practical application in the project. In this paper we firstly discuss the content and importance of the image Processing and Machine Vision course, and review its research progress in related fields. Then we describe the design and implementation of the innovative model, and demonstrate the actual teaching effect under the new model through case studies. The final results show that this project-oriented teaching mode enhances students' learning interest, innovative thinking, practical and teamwork ability, which provides an important reference value for undergraduate talent cultivation. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Railway track curvature is a critical parameter, which directly affects vehicle-track dynamics, such as running speed and wheel-rail interaction. Therefore, knowing track curvature can help wagon operators better understand the running condition of vehicles and further take effective measures to monitor or maintain their health. This paper aims to predict horizontal track curvature by using OpenStreetMap (OSM), an open and free geographic database. A field test was carried out when a train was operated on the Blankenburg-Bernburg railway line in Germany. At first, the running trajectory of the vehicle is measured by the GPS sensor with a frequency of 5 Hz and then it is converted to Cartesian coordinates, where the curvature of the trajectory is calculated. Second, an improved method to increase the accuracy by integrating with the OSM database is proposed, and the procedure of this improved method is presented. © ASCE.

Resilient Cooperative control of Multiple DC Microgrids With Interconnection Networks Against Cyber Attacks

The two control objectives of voltage regulation and precise current sharing are conflicting in multi-bus DC microgrids. In this paper, a distributed control strategy is proposed, and it can achieve accurate current sharing and regulate the voltage of a critical node to the rated value. However, such a distributed control system is susceptible to potential cyber attacks that could deteriorate microgrids performances by corrupting communication links or actuators. To overcome these difficulties, we design the interconnected communication networks to establish a resilient cooperative system of multiple microgrids against unknown bounded injection attacks. The proposed resilient control strategy can achieve the control objectives of maintaining voltage regulation and current sharing within each microgrids under different operating conditions, and the interconnected system consisting of multiple microgrids cooperates to mitigate the adverse effect of cyber attacks. The dynamics and stability of the overall close-loop system of the DC microgrids are analyzed, in the present or absent of cyber attacks. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in two 4-bus DC microgrids. © 2023 IEEE.

A new teaching model of teaching-innovation-competition is presented and a wisdom course based on this model is developed for mechatronics engineering majors, mainly to deal with several existing problems such as limited experimentation and lack of innovative inspiration in Chinese universities. This study elaborates the course objectives and structure of curriculum system, including digitalized teaching content, project-driven teaching means, innovation platform, web-based resource support, team competition and diversified evaluation method. Through a teaching case study within mechatronic engineering major, the teaching mechanism and achievements are demonstrated. The study results indicate that the proposed teaching mode based on the virtual teaching and research section, significantly improves students' innovation ability and the teaching effects, compared to traditional teaching methods. Causal Attention Transformer for Video Text Retrieval

In the metaverse, video text retrieval is an urgent and challenging need for users in social entertainment. The current attention-based video text retrieval models have not fully explored the interaction between video and text, and only brute force feature embedding. Moreover, Due to the unsupervised nature of attention weight training, existing models have weak generalization performance for dataset bias. Essentially, the model learns that false relevant information in the data is caused by confounding factors. Therefore, this article proposes a video text retrieval method based on causal attention transformer. Assuming that the confounding factors affecting the performance of video text retrieval all come from the dataset, a structural causal model that conforms to the video text retrieval task is constructed, and the impact of confounding effects during data training is reduced by adjusting the front door. In addition, we use causal attention transformer to construct a causal inference network to extract causal features between video text pairs, and replace the similarity statistical probability with causal probability in the video text retrieval framework. Experiments are conducted on the MSR-VTT, MSVD, and LSMDC datasets, which proves the effectiveness of the retrieval model proposed in this paper. © 2025 The Author(s). Hierarchical lignin-derived ordered mesoporous carbon (HOMC) was significant for advanced supercapacitors. However, achieving controllable fabrication and optimizing electrochemical behavior were challenging. In this work, an eco-friendly HOMC was synthesized using lignin as carbon precursors and Zn2+ as cross-linking and pore-forming agents, followed by KHCO3 activation, eliminating the need for toxic phenolic resins and acid treatments for metal removal. Machine learning technology, specifically an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model, was utilized to assist the experimental design and prediction. The ANN model suggested an ideal hierarchical structure and optimized oxygen level, achieved through the adjustment of Zn2+ additive concentration, carbonization temperature, and subsequent KHCO3 activation to maximize capacitance. The HOMC electrode, with a micropore-to-mesopore ratio (Smicro/Smeso) of 1.01 and an oxygen content of 8.81 at%, acquired a specific capacitance of 362 F·g−1 at 0.5 A·g−1 in 6 mol·L−1 KOH electrolyte. The assembled HOMC//HOMC supercapacitor could afford a high energy density of 33.38 Wh·kg−1 with a corresponding specific power density of 300 W·kg−1 in TEATFB/PC electrolyte. Meanwhile, the long-term cycle stability of 94.33% was achieved after 20,000 cycles. This work provides an ANN-assisted strategy for the synthesis of HOMC, highlighting its potential to valorize biomass and agricultural waste in sustainable energy storage solutions. © 2024 Institute of Process engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Object Detection and Multiple Objective Optimization Manipulation Planning for Underwater Autonomous Capture in Oceanic Natural Aquatic Farm

Underwater autonomous capture operations offer significant potential for reducing labor and health risks in sea organism industries. This study presents a comprehensive solution for cross-domain underwater object detection and autonomous capture. A novel unsupervised domain adaptive learning method is proposed, integrating multiscale domain adaptive modules and attention mechanisms into a Faster Region-Convolutional Neural Network framework. This approach enhances feature alignment across diverse aquatic domains without parameter tuning. Additionally, an efficient, parameterless constrained multiobjective optimization algorithm is introduced for underwater autonomous mobile capture, integrating parameterized trajectory planning with innovative features, such as adaptive mutation strategies and constraint violation tolerance. The proposed approaches are extensively validated through simulations, tank experiments, and real-world oceanic trials in the Natural Aquatic Farm of Zhangzidao Island. Results demonstrate the system's robustness in complex underwater environments with varying currents, with experimental outcomes validating the accuracy and reliability of detection and capture capabilities. This research significantly advances autonomous underwater systems' capabilities in object detection and capture tasks, addressing complex challenges in realistic organism capture applications across diverse aquatic environments. © 2025 Wiley Periodicals LLC.
