Water resource management worldwide faces significant challenges, including high consumption rates, scarcity, and ageing infrastructure. This paper proposes a comprehensive approach to address these issues through five key solutions. Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) first facilitates real-time data collection and consumer awareness campaigns. Secondly, wastewater recycling and reuse are promoted by upgrading wastewater treatment plants and fostering public-private partnerships. Thirdly, reducing network losses is achieved through leak detection systems and regular maintenance. Fourthly, policy enhancement and regulatory frameworks are strengthened by implementing regulations for new developments and incentives for water-saving technologies. Lastly, community engagement and education initiatives are undertaken to promote sustainable water practices. This multifaceted strategy aims to improve water conservation, efficiency, and resilience of the water supply system. This paper proposes solutions that can be applied to the Madinah AL Munawara region of Saudi Arabia, an area of utmost importance, demonstrating the applicability and effectiveness of these solutions in addressing regional water management challenges. © The Author(’s).

Global climate change has become a critical issue that requires fast and effective action. One aspect that influences environmental health and human welfare is air quality. Therefore, this research examines literature related to the development of an air quality monitoring system using the Internet of Things (IoT) as an innovative solution for monitoring air pollution in real time and to find out how important air quality monitoring applications are in everyday life. A number of systems are designed to measure various air quality parameters, such as particulate concentrations, toxic gases, air temperature, and transmit the data online directly to publicly accessible digital platforms. By utilizing IoT technology, the information collected can be easily accessed by university leaders, government and researchers to take appropriate mitigation steps. It is hoped that the results of this literature review will assist in efforts to continuously and effectively monitor air quality, enabling faster and more targeted interventions in overcoming the impacts of global climate change. © 2024 The Authors.

Ransomware attacks pose a significant threat to critical infrastructures,demanding robust detection *** study introduces a hybrid model that combines vision transformer(ViT)and one-dimensional convolutional neural network(1DCNN)architectures to enhance ransomware detection *** common challenges in ransomware detection,particularly dataset class imbalance,the synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE)is employed to generate synthetic samples for minority class,thereby improving detection *** integration of ViT and 1DCNN through feature fusion enables the model to capture both global contextual and local sequential features,resulting in comprehensive ransomware *** on the UNSW-NB15 dataset,the proposed ViT-1DCNN model achieved 98%detection accuracy with precision,recall,and F1-score metrics surpassing conventional *** approach not only reduces false positives and negatives but also offers scalability and robustness for real-world cybersecurity *** results demonstrate the model’s potential as an effective tool for proactive ransomware detection,especially in environments where evolving threats require adaptable and high-accuracy solutions.

Solar photovoltaic generation and energy storage are being used to power rural places. However, remote users are burdened by private energy storage devices. Remoteness limits the economic viability of cooperative energy storage. Our work proposes a shared energy storage model considering battery degradation. To test the model, we compared Individual, Neighbor, and Communal scenarios. The system was built as a mixed integer linear programming model to investigate optimal operating methods. Compared to the other situations, the Neighbor scenario saves operational expenses by 4.97%. Finally, the self-consumption rate shows optimal penetration of renewable energy parameters. © 2024 IEEE.

The utilization of mobile edge computing(MEC)for unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)communication presents a viable solution for achieving high reliability and low latency *** study explores the potential of employing intelligent reflective surfaces(IRS)andUAVs as relay nodes to efficiently offload user computing tasks to theMEC server system ***,the user node accesses the primary user spectrum,while adhering to the constraint of satisfying the primary user peak interference ***,the UAV acquires energy without interrupting the primary user’s regular communication by employing two energy harvesting schemes,namely time switching(TS)and power splitting(PS).The selection of the optimal UAV is based on the maximization of the instantaneous signal-to-noise ***,the analytical expression for the outage probability of the system in Rayleigh channels is derived and *** study investigates the impact of various system parameters,including the number of UAVs,peak interference power,TS,and PS factors,on the system’s outage performance through *** proposed system is also compared to two conventional benchmark schemes:the optimal UAV link transmission and the IRS link *** simulation results validate the theoretical derivation and demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme over the benchmark schemes.

Coronavirus disease 2019 has brought a great challenge to the supply of daily necessities and medical items for home-quarantined people. Considering the unmanned operation, agility, and use of clean energy of drones, we propose a novel truck-and-drone coordinated delivery system that does not require direct human contact during the delivery process. All final deliveries are completed by the drone while the truck acts as a movable charging station and a carrier, so that the contagion risks are reduced. Moreover, we spilt the whole delivery problem into the customer-clustering problem and the routing problems of both the truck and the drone. An encoder-decoder framework combined with reinforcement learning is created to solve the routing problems without handcrafted designed heuristics. We design the different problem contexts specific to the truck routing problem and the drone routing problem. The experimental results show that the proposed approach has good generality and can consequently be applied to problems of different scales with high time efficiency. © 2020 IEEE.

Object segmentation and recognition is an imperative area of computer vision andmachine learning that identifies and separates individual objects within an image or video and determines classes or categories based on their *** proposed system presents a distinctive approach to object segmentation and recognition using Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs).The system takes RGB images as input and uses a k-means clustering-based segmentation technique to fragment the intended parts of the images into different regions and label thembased on their ***,two distinct kinds of features are obtained from the segmented images to help identify the objects of *** Artificial Neural Network(ANN)is then used to recognize the objects based on their *** were carried out with three standard datasets,MSRC,MS COCO,and Caltech 101 which are extensively used in object recognition research,to measure the productivity of the suggested *** findings from the experiment support the suggested system’s validity,as it achieved class recognition accuracies of 89%,83%,and 90.30% on the MSRC,MS COCO,and Caltech 101 datasets,respectively.

A Game-Theoretic Approach for Satellites Beam Scheduling and Power Control in a Mega Hybrid Constellation Spectrum Sharing Scenario

A mega hybrid constellation of low-Earth orbit (LEO) and geosynchronous orbit (GEO) satellites represents a typical architecture for future space networks. However, the emergence of such large constellations exacerbates the shortage of spectrum resources. To address this issue, this article investigates a hierarchical optimization method for beam scheduling and power control of LEO satellites, aiming to extend the available spectrum by sharing the downlink spectrum of GEO satellites. In the upper layer optimization, a many-to-one matching game model is constructed to achieve optimal matching of LEO satellite beams and LEO users (LUs). A distributed beam matching learning algorithm (DBMLA) is designed to find a stable matching solution for the model, with the convergence of the algorithm theoretically proven. In the lower layer optimization, an LEO beam power level optimization game model is developed for discrete LEO beam power levels. This model is demonstrated to be an exact potential game with at least one Nash equilibrium (NE). To solve this NE, a dynamic power allocation logarithmic learning algorithm (DPALLA) is proposed. Simulation results verify that the proposed DBMLA-DPALLA hierarchical optimization scheme effectively balances convergence time and accuracy compared to traditional independent optimization strategies. By leveraging the combined effects of the two optimization strategies, it better mitigates the co-channel interference experienced by GEO satellites and improves the average network satisfaction of the LUs. © 2014 IEEE.

Cluster-preserving sampling algorithm for large-scale graphs

Graph sampling is a very effective method to deal with scalability issues when analyzing largescale graphs. Lots of sampling algorithms have been proposed, and sampling qualities have been quantified using explicit properties(e.g., degree distribution) of the sample. However, the existing sampling techniques are inadequate for the current sampling task: sampling the clustering structure, which is a crucial property of the current networks. In this paper, using different expansion strategies, two novel top-leader sampling methods(i.e., TLS-e and TLS-i) are proposed to obtain representative samples, and they are capable of effectively preserving the clustering structure. The rationale behind them is to select top-leader nodes of most clusters into the sample and then heuristically incorporate peripheral nodes into the sample using specific expansion strategies. Extensive experiments are conducted to investigate how well sampling techniques preserve the clustering structure of graphs. Our empirical results show that the proposed sampling algorithms can preserve the population's clustering structure well and provide feasible solutions to sample the clustering structure from large-scale graphs.
