In this paper, we present an architecture for a scalable, efficient, realtime intra H.264 video encoder implemented on an FPGA. Our architecture was designed to achieve a through-put of up to 2.3 Gbit/s using a parallel and pipelined architecture described in VHDL. All modules in the architecture are optimized to utilize minimum hardware area. A parameterized encoding system and flexible architecture is proposed to provide the ability to achieve different compression ratios ranging from 1.4 to 2 with varying size and power requirements. As a baseline, with no compression, the encoder required hardware resources equivalent to 18K logic gates. This work experimented with compression ratios up to 2 which required an equivalent of 31K logic gates. The encoder performs at frequency ranges of 159–183 MHz.

Over the past decade, the continuous surge in cloud computing demand has intensified data center workloads, leading to significant carbon emissions and driving the need for improving their efficiency and sustainability. This paper focuses on the optimal allocation problem of batch compute loads with temporal and spatial flexibility across a global network of data centers. We propose a bilevel game-theoretic solution approach that captures the inherent hierarchical relationship between supervisory control objectives, such as carbon reduction and peak shaving, and operational objectives, such as priority-aware scheduling. Numerical simulations with real carbon intensity data demonstrate that the proposed approach success-fully reduces carbon emissions while simultaneously ensuring operational reliability and priority-aware scheduling.

This study focuses on the exploration of five novel π-conjugated organic compounds for potential incorporation into organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The molecular structure of these compounds follows a D-Di-D setup, with a carbazole acting as the D component, and the specific Di component varying based on the donor utilized. Through analysis at the DFT/B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) level, including the determination of HOMO–LUMO energy values, after optimizing the molecules' ground state, the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) was studied using Egap band gap. Utilizing the TD-DFT and ZINDO method the optical properties like absorption (λmax) and emission (λem) were explored. Based on SILVACO-TCAD software, the estimated current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the two most efficient molecules were obtained. The indices of the studied molecules calculated from these interactions indicates that the molecules have sufficient properties which allow these molecules to be considered promising candidates for use in OLED devices as high-performing active materials.
