We consider the opinion consensus problem using a multi-agent setting based on the Hegselmann-Krause (H-K) Model. Firstly, we give a sufficient condition on the initial opinion distribution so that the system will converge to only one cluster. Then, modified models are proposed to guarantee convergence for more general initial conditions. The overall connectivity is maintained with these models, while the loss of certain edges can occur. Furthermore, a smooth control protocol is provided to avoid the difficulties that may arise due to the discontinuous right-hand side in the H-K model.

In this paper, a novel predictor-based disturbance rejection control scheme is proposed for industrial stable and integrating processes with time delay. Two realizable differentiators with finite gain are first introduced to estimate the derivatives of the delay-free output response given by a generalized predictor. Then, a predicted disturbance response is constructed for feedforward compensation by using the input signal along with the delay-free output response and its estimated derivatives. By specifying the desired closed-loop poles, the feedback controller is derived analytically. A prominent advantage of the proposed control scheme lies in that a trade-off between the control performance and its robustness against process uncertainties can be made by monotonically tuning the adjustable parameters in the prediction filter, differentiator and feedback controller, respectively. The necessary and sufficient condition for robust stability of the closed-loop system is established based on the small gain theorem. Two illustrative examples from the literature are adopted to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control scheme.

Verification of control systems is often done using extensive simulation. This gives the engineer useful qualitative information about the system performance. However, simulation cannot be used to rigorously prove stability and robustness of the system. Over the last several decades,scientists have established a wealth of evidence to demonstrate the risks posed to human health by toxic elements in atmospheric particulate matter(PM).Antimony(Sb),as one of ever ignored PM-bound heavy metals,attracts more and more attentions and has been regarded as one emerging air pollutant with the change of pollution sources of particulate *** study the distribution of Sb in PM with different particle sizes is of great practical significance for understanding its source and health *** this study,the size distributions of Sb in PM(PM_(2.5),PM_(10)and TSP)in different seasons were studied from July 2018 to May *** high concentration of PM-bound Sb was found and the health risk was *** was enriched in fine particles and showed higher values in winter,which was probably caused by coal combustion and meteorological *** was also found that traffic-related non-exhaust emissions might become another main contribution to fine particle *** risk assessment demonstrated that the hazard quotient(HQ)of Sb in PM_(2.5)and PM_(10)for children(PM_(2.5):1.54,PM_(10):1.32)exceeded the acceptable threshold and ingestion contributed the most to the HQ for both children and adults.

This paper addresses a distributed filtering problem for saturated systems over sensor network with measurement outliers, where the multiplicative noises are used to characterize the internal behaviors of system model. A χ detection is first constructed in the distributed filter to detect and remove the outliers existing in the measurement outputs caused by some external environment disturbances or malicious attacks. Moreover, the innovation sequence is applied to design filter as a compensation term. The objective of this paper is to find a locally optimal distributed filter such that, for both the measurement outliers and multiplicative noises, an upper bound of filtering error covariance is given and then a proper filter gain is derived to minimize the obtained upper bound matrix with the help of the matrix analysis theory and the probability knowledge. Finally, a numerical experiment is proposed to verify the validity of the designed distributed filtering algorithm.

We consider the problem of estimating a probability distribution that maximizes the entropy while satisfying a finite number of moment constraints, possibly corrupted by noise. The H consensus control problem is handled for a class of discrete time-varying multi-agent systems with round-robin protocol and missing measurements. The round-robin protocol is considered, which allows only one agent can send its measurement data at each transmission step in order to prevent the data collisions. And the missing measurements phenomenon is described by a sequence of Bernoulli distributed random variables with known probabilities. We focus on designing the controller parameters to guarantee that the closed-loop multi-agent systems with missing measurements satisfy the H consensus performance. On this basis, some sufficient and necessary conditions are obtained by solving coupled backward recursive Riccati difference equations, where the existence and feasibility of the control scheme can be obtained with the help of the completing squares method and the stochastic analysis technique. At last, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed controller design scheme.

We analyse the conservatism and regret of distributionally robust (DR) stochastic model predictive control (SMPC) when using moment-based ambiguity sets for modeling unknown uncertainties. To quantify the conservatism, we compare the deterministic constraint tightening while taking a DR approach against the optimal tightening when the exact distributions of the stochastic uncertainties are known. Furthermore, we quantify the sub-optimality gap and regret by comparing the performance when the distributions of the stochastic uncertainties are known and unknown. Analysing the accumulated sub-optimality of SMPC due to the lack of knowledge about the true distributions of the uncertainties marks the novel contribution of this work. © 2023, CC BY.

Coal and methane were burnt in the MILD-OCC combustion flame under different combustion conditions to study the temperature distribution and characteristics of soot volume fraction. In this experiment, the flame temperature distribution is measured by thermocouple and the volume fraction (fv) of soot at each sampling point is calculated, then combining with the mass concentration of soot by the filter weighing method to obtain the distribution characteristics of soot in the flame. The results of thermocouple particle densitometry (TPD) show that the formation and oxidation of soot at every point in the flame is related closely to its position and temperature in the flame. The fv of soot in the center of the flame is negatively correlated with the temperature of the flame during the MILD-OCC combustion. The lower temperature region of the flame is conducive to the growth of soot, which leads to higher value of fv. The higher temperature in the center of the flame is beneficial to the oxidation of the soot particles, resulting to lower value of fv. The results of the filter membrane weighing method show that the formation of soot mainly occurs in the central region of the flame. When the radial distance increases, the flame temperature rises, and the soot concentration decreases due to oxidation. On the whole, the distribution of soot measured by the filter membrane weighing method is roughly consistent with that calculated by the TPD, which provides a reference for further research on the MILD-OCC combustion. © 2022, Tsinghua University Press.

The use of multiobjective optimization procedures for control tuning has been constantly explored, presenting satisfactory results, and generating significant contributions to control engineering. In this way, the field of robust control can benefit significantly from the integration of multiobjective optimization design procedures for robust Proportional-Integral-Derivative (RPID) controller synthesis, enabling innovative solutions to complex control challenges. Due to this fact, this paper explores an approach to utilize multiobjective optimization algorithms in a simplified procedure, considering uncertain systems in the form of interval plants with uncertain poles, the Kharitonov theorem is used to obtain a region of stability as search space for the multiobjective algorithm, being the optimization process performed over a nominal system model. Two numerical cases and a flexible actuator model were used to demonstrate the procedure for RPI synthesis, resulting in robustly stable controllers with optimized performance over error and control signal effort measures.
