Photodynamic therapy(PDT)has been extensively investigated as an alternative cancer treatment;however,its efficacy is limited by the low oxygen content and excess glutathione(GSH)in tumor *** the emergence of ferroptosis,which also impacts redox homeostasis,a combined PDT-ferroptosis approach holds promise for amplifying the efficacy of both ***,concerns persist regarding biocompatibility and tumor-specific ***,we report a self-motivated co-nanoassembly for combined PDT and ferroptosis-driven tumor *** first modify linoleic acid with protoporphyrin Ⅸ to form a lipidic derivative(denoted as PLA)and develop a light-boosted carrier-free nanoplatform(PLA@R NPs)by co-assembling the ferroptosis inducer RAS-selective lethal 3(RSL3)and *** light irradiation,reactive oxygen species produced by PDT trigger linoleic acid peroxidation,leading to the destruction of the nanoparticles and the release of *** rapid release of RSL3 enhances PDT sensitivity by depleting GSH and utilizing the Fenton reaction to supplement ***,PDT accelerates lipid peroxidation,further inducing *** self-motivated effect increases oxidative stress in tumor tissues,as confirmed by a tumor-on-a-chip ***,the in vivo therapeutic effect with the PLA@R NPs is significant,demonstrating the promising potential of combining PDT and ferroptosis using a light-boosted and self-motivated nanoplatform.

In modern computational materials science, deep learning has shown the capability to predict interatomic potentials, thereby supporting and accelerating conventional simulations. However, existing models typically sacrifice either accuracy or efficiency. Moreover, lightweight models are highly demanded for offering simulating systems on a considerably larger scale at reduced computational costs. Here, we introduce a lightweight equivariant interaction graph neural network (LEIGNN) that can enable accurate and efficient interatomic potential and force predictions for molecules and crystals. Rather than relying on higher-order representations, LEIGNN employs a scalar-vector dual representation to encode equivariant features. By learning geometric symmetry information, our model remains lightweight while ensuring prediction accuracy and robustness through the equivariance. Our results show that LEIGNN consistently outperforms the prediction performance of the representative baselines and achieves significant efficiency across diverse datasets, which include catalysts, molecules, and organic isomers. Furthermore, we conduct molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using the LEIGNN force field across solid, liquid, and gas systems. It is found that LEIGNN can achieve the accuracy of ab initio MD across all examined systems. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This research is using methods model experiments and numerical simulation in tunnel respectively to discuss what influence that stationary vehicles located in upwind fire source would have on backlayering length Lb of thermal fume. In this experiment, the same scale of the fire source was adapted, and the variables are the obstacles height of upwind fire source. There are two kinds of obstacles: lower obstacles and higher ones;the configuration is divided into two kinds: no stationary vehicles (M0) and both sides of stationary vehicles (M2). This experiment is using 1/5 model of the tunnel, and the model material Biot number and Fourier number is close to the full-scale tunnel. In terms of numerical simulation, a full scale model was built by original code which is self-developed and then calculated the fire source scale and time range of quasi-steady used in numerical simulation with dimensionless formula and Froude scaling methods respectively. Comparing the relation between dimensionless backlayering length Lb/H and Q*1/3/Fr with curve fitting equation proposed by Kunikane (11th International Symposium on AVVT, Luzern, Switzerland, pp. 87–101, 2003 [1]), it shows that under the same Froude number circumstance, the Lb with obstacles is shorter than that without obstacles. Also, model experiments and numerical simulation both show similar result. Thus the original code used for numerical simulation in this study is suitable for studying the effect of stationary vehicles on Lb. After analyzing the effect of stationary vehicles on the longitudinal velocity, it is found that in the case of M2, the longitudinal velocity on the upper part of the tunnel is bigger than that of M0. Therefore, the Lb in M2 is shorter than that in M0. Because, in the case of M2, higher obstacles cause the wind speed of the upper part of the tunnel to become faster, which in turn causes the Lb to become shorter and the slope of the fitting curve to become smaller. © Springer Nature Singapore

The green transition has brought about a worldwide-shift to the use of renewables as alternative energy sources. Because of this, high voltage DC has been a field of interest in power electronics due to its capability in efficiently transmitting power to reach remote areas. Typical DC-DC electronic power converter design has the capability of boosting voltage level to a certain extent but not enough for high-voltage applications. Using the DMAIC Approach of the Six Sigma, quality improvements in the design was proposed to stabilize operating frequency, bring up the output voltage from 100 VDC to 4,000 VDC and provide at least 10% margin of error in the apparent power measured at the output side to offset inherent losses in the electrical design. These proposed quality improvements were sustained by designing a control circuit that would ensure the attainment of the parameters set in the Define Phase of the DMAIC Approach. The result of the study is a practical 12 VDC to 4,000 VDC boost converter design that has incorporated all the proposed quality improvements.

A field study was conducted in both summer and winter in an office building, which is equipped with a radiant ceiling panel ( RCP ) and an open-loop groundwater heat pump ( GWHP ) system. All energy systems in this building were controlled and monitored using a building energy management system. First, the annual energy consumption was analyzed and it was clear this building can meet the requirements of the ZEB-ready level in Japan. The energy consumption of the air-conditioning system accounted for 46 % of the total energy consumption, which was the largest contributor to the total energy consumption. Second, indoor thermal comfort was evaluated based on the results obtained from the physical measurements and survey questionnaire. The results showed that the free-suspended RCP system could achieve the required indoor thermal conditions for the entire year. In addition, intermittent and continuous operation methods were compared in terms of both thermal comfort and energy consumption. Under the continuous operation method, a stable indoor environment was maintained, and the COP of the GWHP system was increased by 10 %. The results showed the potential to further reduce energy consumption and maintain a high thermal comfort level through system operation optimization. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The study examines the relationship between organisational culture, people, and successful Product Lifecycle management (PLM) implementation. Conducted through qualitative analysis of 27 expert interviews across 11 engineering to Order industries in various countries, it produced a robust implementation framework. Validation showed a 95% agreement on framework quality and versatility. It identifies cultural factors crucial to PLM implementation, offering actionable insights for practitioners. Academic significance lies in the validated challenges, objectives, and enablers, paving the way for further research. The purpose of this article is to analyze and describe sustainable practices based on biodiversity assets adopted by one of the largest global cosmetics company, located in Brazil. The company occupies the 19th position of the Global Ranking 100 Sustainability. The research method is bibliographic research that employed open, non-classified documents publicized by the company. The main findings of the study underscore the relevance of the rural communities in developing a supply chain based on biodiversity as well as the importance of the relationships among the tiers to implement a sustainable business model. The company relies on high-quality products associated with environmental development. Currently, biodiversity suppliers account for 80% circa of natural raw materials, the so-called biodiversity asset, which represents the core of the sustainable business model of the company. The findings can be generalized by helping other supply chains to develop and implement sustainable business models supported by biodiversity. Such type of a model can help companies achieve expressive business performance and, at the same time, social relevance to peripheral or vulnerable rural communities. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals LLC

Cancer cells could be eradicated by promoting generation of excessive intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)via emerging ***,tumor heterogeneity and poor penetration of nanomedicines often lead to diverse levels of ROS production in the tumor site,and ROS at a low level promote tumor cell growth,thus diminishing the therapeutic effect of these ***,we construct an amphiphilic and block polymer-dendron conjugate-derived nanomedicine(Lap@pOEGMA-b-p(GFLG-Dendron-Ppa),GFLG-DP/Lap NPs)that incorporates a photosensitizer,Pyropheophorbide a(Ppa),for ROS therapy and Lapatinib(Lap)for molecular targeted ***,an epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)inhibitor that plays a role in inhibiting cell growth and proliferation,is hypothesized to synergize with ROS therapy for effectively killing cancer *** results suggest that the enzyme-sensitive polymeric conjugate,pOEGMA-b-p(GFLG-Dendron-Ppa)(GFLG-DP),releases in response to cathepsin B(CTSB)after entering the tumor ***-Ppa has a strong adsorption capacity to tumor cell membranes,which promotes efficient penetration and long-term *** can also be efficiently delivered to internal tumor cells to play its role due to the increased vesicle *** irradiation of Ppa-containing tumor cells results in production of intracellular ROS that is sufficient for inducing cell ***,Lap efficiently inhibits proliferation of remaining viable cells even in deep tumor regions,thus generating a significant synergistic anti-tumor therapeutic *** novel strategy can be extended to the development of efficient membrane lipid-based therapies to effectively combat tumors.

Integrated Electronic Health Record of Multidisciplinary Professionals Throughout the Cancer Care Pathway: A Pilot Study Exploring Patient-Centered Information in Breast Cancer Patients

Purpose: The aim of this pilot study was to first aggregate and then integrate the medical records of various healthcare professionals involved with breast cancer patients to reveal if and how patient-centered information is documented in multidisciplinary cancer care. Patients and methods: We aggregated 20 types of medical records from various healthcare professionals throughout 3 breast cancer patients’ care pathways in a department of breast surgery at a university hospital. These records consisted of 4,061 paragraphs comprising 14,195 lines. We integrated these data for each case. We manually annotated and analyzed them exploratively. First, provisional tags were given for all sentences. A breast cancer surgeon (26 years experience) checked the annotated results and revised the provisional tags. All records were then given revised tags and analyzed for how patient-centered information was documented. We defined Concern of Daily Life-Care-Treatment, State of Mind, Patient Views and Preferences, and Contextual Features as patient-centered information, whereas Medical Indication and Physical Status were designated biomedical information. Results: The number of patient-centered information related tags accounted for 30%, 30% and 20% of the total in case 1, case 2 and case 3, respectively. In all cases, patient-centered information was distributed across various medical records. The Progress Note tag provided the most patient-centered information, while other records contained information not described elsewhere in the progress notes. The records of Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals included more patient-centered information than the doctors’ notes. Each piece of information was documented in fragments providing each of the healthcare professionals’ viewpoints. Conclusion: The documented information throughout the breast cancer care pathway in the cases examined was dominated by biomedical information. The Strategy of Escalation and Negotiation: The Iran Nuclear Dispute

The strategic decisions and resulting consequences surrounding the conflict between the United States of America (US) and Iran regarding the Iranian nuclear program are formally investigated using a flexible decision methodology called the Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR). This highly controversial dispute caught the world's attention as concerns were growing that Iran would reach a position where it would be able to build nuclear weapons, thereby posing a risk to world security. While Iran insisted on its rights for the peaceful use of nuclear technology;the international community;led by the US, tried to discourage the nuclear activities of Iran to ensure its obligations to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. This led to an escalation of tension on both sides, with an extension of the nuclear program by Iran and an increase in sanctions by the US, before it was possible to arrive at a negotiated agreement. As demonstrated in this paper, a systematic GMCR investigation provides valuable strategic insights into this important conflict. Further, it illustrates ways in which the conflict could have evolved, as well as mechanisms for stopping an escalation like this in the future.
