In an eHealth peer-to-peer database management system(P2PDBMS), peers exchange data in a pair-wise fashion on-the-fly in response to a query without any centralized control. Generally, the communication link between two peers is insecure and peers create a temporary session while exchanging data. When peers exchange highly confidential data in an eHealth network over an insecure communication link, the data might be tampered with or trapped and disclosed by intruders, which is a serious offence for the clients of an eHealth P2PDBMS. As there is no centralized control for data exchange in eHealth P2PDBMS, it is infeasible to assume a centralized third party security infrastructure to protect confidential data. So far, there is currently no available/existing security protocol for secured data exchange in eHealth P2PDBMS. In this paper we propose three models for secure data exchange in eHealth P2PDBMSs and the corresponding security protocols. The proposed protocol allows the peers to compute their secret session keys dynamically during data exchange based on the policies between them. Our proposed protocol is robust against the man-in-the middle attack, the masquerade attack, and the replay attack.

Dependence on finite resources brings economic, social, and environmental concerns. Planted forests are a biomass alternative to the exploitation of natural forests. In the exploitation of the planted forests, planning and management are key to achieve success, so in forestry operations, both economic and noneconomic factors must be considered. This study aimed to compare eucalyptus biomass production through energy embodiment of anthropogenic inputs and resource embodiment including environmental contribution (emergy) for the commercial forest in the Sao Paulo, Brazil. Energy analyses and emergy synthesis were accomplished for the eucalyptus production cycles. It was determined that emergy synthesis of eucalyptus production and sensibility analysis for three scenarios to adjust soil acidity (lime, ash, and sludge). For both, energy analysis and emergy synthesis, harvesting presented the highest input demand. Results show the differences between energy analysis and emergy synthesis are in the conceptual underpinnings and accounting procedures. Both evaluations present similar trends and differ in the magnitude of the participation of an input due to its origin. For instance, inputs extracted from ores, which represent environmental contribution, are more relevant for emergy synthesis. On the other hand, inputs from industrial processes are more important for energy analysis.

This paper proposes a new description method of the relations between businesses. We call this method Global Relations Diagram of function and demarcation (G-RD). The Data Flow Diagram (DFD) widely used until now can describe the activity and the activity order in detail. However there are two problems with this method. Firstly, when we use this description method for a large-scale object, the line where it connects between the elements becomes entangled like spaghetti. Secondly, there is no conversion with other description method such as IPO diagram. Our new description method G-RD can solve these two problems. It does this by describing the structure of the businesses by using "Elements" and "Relations". Elements show the role and the function of the businesses and Relations connect and explain the relationships between Elements. We position Elements on the diagonal line of the square matrix. A Relation can be plotted where an in-Element row and out-Element column intersect. This paper will show how Hitachi Ltd. applied this G-RD to more than 200 projects, and confirmed its effectiveness.

Call Admission Control (CAC) is one of the resource management functions, which regulates network access to ensure QoS provisioning. However, the decision for CAC is very challenging issue due to user mobility, limited radio spectrum, and multimedia traffic characteristics. In our previous work, we implemented a fuzzy based CAC system called FACS-MP, which consider many priorities. In this paper, we evaluate by simulations the performance of priority algorithm which is part of FACS-MP system. From the simulations results, we conclude that the FACS-MP make a good differentiation of different services based on different priorities.

A prototype for a walking assistance apparatus for the elderly or motor palsy patients was developed as a next-generation vehicle or movable neuro-rehabilitation training appliance, using a novel spatial parallel link mechanism and a bearing lift. The flat steps of the apparatus move in parallel with the ground; the apparatus can support entire leg alignment (including soles) and assist; walking behavior at ankle, knee and hip joints simultaneously. In order to respond the variation of equipped person's walking velocity, the length of stride and walking cycle while walking with wearing the apparatus were compensated by using the relation of walking ratio. Therefore the apparatus can be controlled in response to equipped person's will. Motor palsy and muscle weakness patients can walk by themselves by using the apparatus; patients who have ambulation difficulty can use the apparatus with weight bearing lift that we developed. Using the apparatus with the weight bearing lift prevents stumbling and enables input of walking movement to the brain motor area. It is very effective for rehabilitation to use the apparatus with the weight bearing lift. This newly developed system facilitates motor palsy and muscle weakness patients in the rehabilitation program.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the American Society for engineeringmanagement (ASEM) Certification program for graduateprograms in engineeringmanagement. The decision to have a graduateprogram certified is difficult. To assist the academic community in considerations for this decision, this paper is organized to address four primary objectives. First, the decision process and logic supporting pursuit of ASEM certification is examined. Second, we explore the general process and requirements for certification of a program. Third, the experience of Old Dominion University's certification of their engineeringmanagementgraduateprogram is examined. This program was one of the first three to be certified by ASEM (2003) and the first to be recertified (2007). Fourth, the extrinsic and intrinsic value of certification is developed. The value of certification, key decision making strategies, issues faced, and assessment of programs are discussed.

The effects of carbon/slag molar ratio, chloride amount and temperature on equilibrium molar ratio (REq) of CO to CO2 for off-gas produced by carbochlorination of titanium slag were firstly investigated by thermodynamic calculation of equilibrium components of off-gas. The experimental CO/CO2 molar ratio (REx) was then obtained to be 0.2-0.3 by the carbochlorination experiment using a novel combined fluidized bed as chlorination reactor. To further investigate the reaction effect of the novel process mentioned above, REx, REq and corresponding reference data (RRe) were compared. The results indicate that REx is similar to RRe (0.5-1.2) but different from REq (≥4.3), which is consistent with anticipation of REx for the novel combined fluidized bed. The difference between REx and corresponding REq is mainly attributed to short retention time (about 1 s) of materials in combined fluidized bed and carbochlorination of oxide impurities contained in titanium slag, such as CaO, MgO and SiO2.
