Call Admission Control (CAC) is one of the resource management functions, which regulates network access to ensure QoS provisioning. However, the decision for CAC is very challenging issue due to user mobility, limited radio spectrum, and multimedia traffic characteristics. We proposed a fuzzy-based CAC system by considering the priority of the on-going connections. We called this system FACS-P. In FACSP, as priority parameter, we considered only one parameter (service request). In our previous work, we extend our work by adding different priorities. We call this system FACS-MP. In this paper, we evaluate by simulations the performance of the proposed system. From the simulations results, we conclude that the FACS-MP make a good differentiation of different services and has better behaviour than FACS-P.

Simultaneous switching noise (SSN) is a major cause of power integrity (PI) degradation that causes circuits to become unstable and experience errors. As modern ICs operate at higher speeds with higher density and lower voltages, SSN has become a serious issue that must be addressed to ensure system stability during the short rise-and fall-times of the logic transient states. Most traditional designs have generally used decoupling capacitors to reduce SSN. As these capacitors become equivalent series inductances when the system operates at high frequencies, such a technique works against reducing SSN. Therefore, we propose a methodology called the enhanced IBIS model that effectively alleviates the problem of SSN using an evaluation based on the enhanced I/O buffer information specification (IBIS) model with decoupling capacitors and a high-frequency lowimpendence circuit. In this study, we showed that SSN from 452 mV, 290 mV, 163 mV, and 301 mV, of IBIS, traditional decoupling capacitors, IBIS with a high-frequency low-impendence circuit, and HP Simulation program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (HSPICE) methodologies, respectively, was effectively reduced by 121 mV of our enhanced IBIS mode as measured by the peak-to-peak value. That is, our new method reduces noise by more than 73.2%, 58.3%, 25.7%, and 59.8% compared to other four methodologies, respectively.

This paper describes the design of a unified framework for a multilingual text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis engine - Crystal. The unified framework defines the common TTS modules for different languages and/or dialects. The interfaces between consecutive modules conform to the speech synthesis markup language (SSML) specification for standardization, interoperability, multilinguality, and extensibility. Detailed module divisions and implementation technologies for the unified framework are introduced, together with possible extensions for the algorithm research and evaluation of the TTS synthesis. Implementation of a mixed-language TTS system for Chinese Putonghua, Chinese Cantonese, and English demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed unified framework.

This study aims to segment objects using the K-means algorithm for texture features. Firstly, the algorithm transforms color images into gray images. This paper describes a novel technique for the extraction of texture features in an image. Then, in a group of similar features, objects and backgrounds are differentiated by using the K-means algorithm. Finally, this paper proposes a new object segmentation algorithm using the morphological technique. The experiments described include the segmentation of single and multiple objects featured in this paper. The region of an object can be accurately segmented out. The results can help to perform image retrieval and analyze features of an object, as are shown in this paper.

Due to the improvement of connections capabilities of end-devices there is an increasing interest to design and implement full featured P2P networks that integrate end-devices. In this paper, we use JXTA-Overlay for the secure control of the robot. We considered the robot as end-device. We investigate the time of secure robot control when in the network were connected different number of peers and compared the results with the scenarios where no security exists at all. The experimental results indicate that in the proposed system security has a cost at the application efficiency by adding some overhead in the time of robot control, but JXTA-Overlay can be used successfully to control robots in real time.

The paper addresses Medical Hand Drawing management System architecture and implementation. In the system, we developed four modules: hand drawing management module; patient medical records query module; hand drawing editing and upload module; hand drawing query module. The system adapts windows-based applications and encompasses web pages by *** hosting mechanism under web services platforms. The hand drawings implemented as files are stored in a FTP server. The file names with associated data, e.g. patient identification, drawing physician, access rights, etc. are reposited in a database. The modules can be conveniently embedded, integrated into any system. Therefore, the system possesses the hand drawing features to support daily medical operations, effectively improve healthcare qualities as well. Moreover, the system includes the printing capability to achieve a complete, computerized medical document process. In summary, the system allows web-based applications to facilitate the graphic processes for healthcare operations.
