The purpose of this case study is to explore the lean application on rebar supply chain management practice at GS. Customer relationship management -CRM -is a broad term that can cover every mode of customer interaction. This concept has been widely used in business language, enabling companies to gain more knowledge about their customers which, in its turn, can be used to improve marketing and sales targeting, improving their results. University and research institutions (URIs), as any other organizations, also need to cater to the needs of their clients, which may be: society in general, their students, researchers and collaborators; other institutions -of a research or commercial nature with which they interact (supplying data, results from research work, consultancy work, and the execution of partnerships) -or governments that make use of their teaching practices and results from their research work. So, this work is a CRM proposal for URIs, studying the differences between the academic/scientific and business world and proposing an environment to manage all kinds of relationships in the academic and scientific scenario.

To achieve the Kyoto Protocol target, additional measures for reducing GHGs from the building sector is a strong requirement in Japan. While this situation, building occupants are eager to secure a sufficient energy supply in terms of developing business and living continuity plan (BLCP). To deal with both of these issues, we are proposing the concept "Sustainable Town", the key items of which are;1) electric and thermal load leveling by block-scale load aggregation, 2) installation of decentralized combined heat and power (CHP) supply system, 3) installation of private electric wire and thermal pipelines in the block. By effective management of these items within a building block, total energy saving (primary energy efficiency) and risk reduction against disease can be increased;this can not be achieved within a single building. Many densely-constructed blocks, such as in central business districts have a great potential to reduce GHGs along with contributing BLCP in the district. Case studies being conducted to some existing blocks in Tokyo are also introduced.

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has become very common in recent years, thanks to the many advantages it provides for patients. Since it is difficult for surgeons to learn and master this technique, several training methods and metrics have been proposed, both to improve the surgeon's abilities and also to assess his/her skills. This paper presents the use of the WB-1R (Waseda bioinstrumentation system no.1 refined), which was developed at Waseda University, Tokyo, to investigate and analyze a surgeon's movements and performance. Specifically, the system can measure the movements of the head, the arms, and the hands, as well as several physiological parameters. In this paper we present our experiment to evaluate a surgeon's ability to handle surgical instruments and his/her depth perception using a laparoscopic view. Our preliminary analysis of a subset of the acquired data (i.e. comfort of the subjects; the amount of time it took o complete each exercise; and respiration) clearly shows that the expert surgeon and the group of medical students perform very differently. Therefore, WB-1R (or, better, a newer version tailored specifically for use in the operating room) could provide important additional information to help assess the experience and performance of surgeons, thus leading to the development of a global performance index for surgeons during MIS. These analyses and modeling, moreover, are an important step towards the automatization and the robotic assistance of the surgical gesture.

The proposed scheme based on the fragile watermarking technique, exploits trained support vector regression (SVR) predicting function to distribute the digital watermark over the particular numeric attributes to achieve embedding and detecting watermark by the same SVR predicting function. Without increased effort and new initiatives, the total number of road traffic deaths and injuries worldwide could rise by some 65 percent between 2000 and 2020, while deaths in low and middle income countries are expected to increase by 80 percent. Hence prevention is the best remedy for this global public health problem. For the effective prevention of road traffic injuries, accurate information on modes, patterns and trends of traffic injuries are mandatory. WHO is encouraging the establishment of such data collection systems by publishing guidelines on injury surveillance. We compared the data fields of the existing traffic injury surveillance systems of the Asian countries of Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and Japan with WHO guidelines and examined the possibilities of compiling a global database. Although the surveillance systems of these four countries share a lot of similarities, there are variations in code choices. In spite of such variations, RTI data can be integrated into a common global data bases by applying information technology.
