In this work, a sliding detection algorithm was proposed for a previously developed robotic hand through the utilization of force sensors. Previous works have designed several hardware architectures to filter sensor data, implement dynamic control, and machine learning models for controlling the robotic fingers using a single Field programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) chip. In this regard, the slip detection algorithm was developed to comprise three stages, each with a low computational cost, including a moving average filter, a first-order derivative, and a peak detection algorithm. A reference model was constructed and validated through an experimental protocol employing daily use objects to create a database. Subsequently, the slip detection algorithm was mapped onto hardware utilizing previously developed floating-point arithmetic IP cores and implemented using a Zynq 7020 device. The FPGA implementation was characterized in terms of resource occupation, power consumption, execution time, and numerical error with the reference model.

Most of the electric distribution companies in the Philippines are interested in analyzing customer load profile, they are concerned in classifying their customer's profile into different categories based on the energy consumption, Also the user's profile will help to understand how the consumption of energy may affect the electric distribution grid. In the current condition right now, facing the COVID-19 pandemic, most Filipinos are inclined to work at home, thus the consumption of energy increased. In this paper, residential data were collected in one of the electric distribution companies in the Philippines amidst the COVID-19 pandemic conditions. The data consist of 1,048,575 customer profiles from the year 2021. This study aims to use clustering methods such as the K-means algorithm in grouping customers' profiles and validate the suitable amount of clusters using the proposed method, such as the multi-criteria model and elbow method. Results show that 2 and 7 clusters, respectively, were fitted in the data. © 2022 IEEE.

Modern design of nuclear facilities represents unique challenges: enabling the design of complex advanced concepts, supporting geographically dispersed teams, and supporting first-of-a-kind system development. Errors made early in design can introduce silent errors. These errors can cascade causing unknown risk of complex engineering programs. The Versatile Test Reactor (VTR) program uses digital-engineering principles for design, procurement, construction, and operation to reduce risk and improve efficiencies. Digital engineering is an integrated, model-based approach which connects proven digital tools such as building information management (BIM), project controls, and systems-engineering software tools into a cohesive environment. The VTR team hypothesizes using these principals can lead to similar risk and cost reductions and schedule efficiencies observed in other engineering industries. This research investigates the use of a digital engineering ecosystem in the design of a 300-MWt sodium-cooled fast reactor. This ecosystem was deployed to over 200 engineers and used to deliver the conceptual design of the VTR. We conclude that initial results show significant reductions in user latency (1000x at peak use), the possibility of direct finite-element-analysis (FEA) integrations to computer-aided design (CAD) tools, and nuclear reactor system design descriptions (SDDs) that we can fully link throughout design in data-driven requirements-management software. Two types of technology development are conducted by firms: radical and incremental. While many studies have focused on the circumstances when firms actively conduct high-risk radical technology development, they have demonstrated that the more a firm’s technological performance rises above or falls below its aspiration, the more reluctant it is to try radical technology development. Moreover, some studies have suggested that the propensity of a firm’s technology development varies with the intensity of competition. Given these findings, our study aimed to clarify the following: 1) the impact of the difference between a firm’s technological performance and its aspiration on the firm’s effort to radical technology development; 2) how this impact varies with the intensity of competition, using patent data. Firms’ efforts to radical technology development were measured by the number of radical patents extracted using patent citation relationships. The performance and aspiration of firms were measured by the number of forward citations of their patents. This study revealed that the negative impact that occurs when performance falls below aspiration was stronger in more competitive technology areas.

Decomposition and Reorganization of Phonetic Information for Speaker Embedding Learning

Speech content is closely related to the stability of speaker embeddings in speaker verification tasks. In this paper, we propose a novel architecture based on self-constraint learning (SCL) and reconstruction task (RT) to remove the influence of phonetic information on speaker embedding generation. First, SCL is used to reduce the divergence of frame-level features, which can avoid ambiguity between the resulting embeddings of the two utterances being compared. Second, RT is used to further remove phonetic information in frame-level layers, focusing on speaker-discriminative feature transformation. In our experiments, the speaker embedding models were trained on the VoxCeleb2 dataset and evaluated on the VoxCeleb1, Librispeech, SITW and VoxMovies datasets. Experimental results on VoxCeleb1 show that the proposed DROP-TDNN system reduced the EER by 7.5%, compared to the state-of-the-art ECAPA-TDNN system. Furthermore, the proposed DROP-TDNN system also outperformed the ECAPA-TDNN system in the experiments on SITW, Librispeech and VoxMovies under cross-dataset conditions. In the experiments on SITW, the proposed system reduced the EER by 3.4% compared to the ECAPA-TDNN system. In the experiments on Librispeech, the proposed system demonstrated the advantage of removing phonetic information under the clean speech condition, with a significant reduction of 25.5% in EER compared to the ECAPA-TDNN system. In the experiments on VoxMovies, the proposed system reduced the EER by up to 7.9% compared to the ECAPA-TDNN system under different pronunciation and background conditions. © 2014 IEEE.

In the event of loss of roadbed on an electric railway line due to typhoon or heavy rain damage caused by abnormal weather, or damage to a subway pole due to an unexpected train derailment, installation of catenary poles for emergency recovery is necessary to restore the electric railways. Conventional emergency catenary poles are made of steel, so they are very heavy, and the length per unit is large, making transportation and installation inconvenient. Also, there is a risk of industrial accidents due to workers' musculoskeletal disorders. In this study, we developed an emergency recovery catenary pole using aluminum, a lightweight material, and researched and developed a slimmer rail fastening device that can also be applied to concrete ballast. The developed product underwent factory testing and reference testing, was assembled and installed on a field test, and then a safety test was performed. The product developed is expected to minimize disruption to train operations and prevent industrial accidents for related workers by safety and quickly restoring electric railways. IDS: Robust Network Intrusion Detection via Temporal Contrastive Graph Learning

In the era of zero trust security models and next-generation networks (NGN), the primary challenge is that network nodes may be untrusted, even if they have been verified, necessitating continuous validation and scrutiny. Effective intrusion detection systems (IDS) are crucial for continuously monitoring network traffic and identifying potential threats. However, traditional IDS approaches often struggle to keep pace with evolving threats, requiring extensive supervised training on labeled datasets. This limitation leads to high false positive rates, low detection accuracy, and a failure to provide real-time detection, thereby undermining the security of NGNs. This paper proposed the first self-supervised learning-based IDS, designed on temporal contrastive graph neural network (GNN), namely TCG-IDS. It innovatively integrates three contrastive learning strategies: temporal contrasting to capture temporal dependencies, asymmetric contrasting to account for the diverse interactions within network data, and masked contrasting to enhance the learning of node representations by masking parts of the data during training. Performance evaluation was conducted on two publicly available network traffic datasets, NF-CSE-CIC-IDS2018-V2 and NF-UNSW-NB15-V2. TCG-IDS achieved a balanced accuracy of 99.48% and 91.48% on two datasets respectively, significantly outperforming state-of-the-art graph learning models. In multi-class detection, TCG-IDS attained a mean false positive rate of 4.15% and 3.34% on the two datasets respectively. Besides, it exhibits high efficiency with its running time of 0.37s and 0.51s on the two datasets to predict per batch of 100 samples. Results highlight the effectiveness and efficiency of TCG-IDS in accurately detecting various types of network intrusions. This work significantly advances the field of network intrusion detection via self-supervised temporal graph learning, offering a promising solution for future network security systems. © 2005-2012
