Productivity and safety of the workers have been issues in most manufacturing facilities in Egypt and all over the world, as the main aim of any manufacturing facility is to increase profit and limit costs as much as possible. Through analysis and simulation, this paper aims to create a safe workplace for the worker; risk assessment and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and the basics of the international standards ISO 31000 and ISO 45001 have been conducted to evaluate different hazards and potential risks. Moreover, lean tools such as 6S and Visual management are proposed solutions to enhance workplace safety and decrease the possibility or severity of potential risks. Therefore, a new workplace design, an example of a high-level hazard in industry in Egypt's local market, has been established for the steel manufacturing facility under consideration using Sketch Up. The results of the proposed solutions, such as new frameworks, worker safety training, equipment replacements, and applying lean tools, have shown a practically acceptable percentage of safety improvements and a decreasing risk priority number (RPN). The percentage decrease for (RPN) ranges between 31.43% to 90.47% for different potential risks.

This study aimed to examine the factors influencing the acceptance of eLearning platforms in medical education during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, using the latent variables from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and two additional variables derived from relevant literature. A total of $\mathbf{3 6 0}$ medical students participated by completing an online survey comprising 40 questions. The analysis, conducted using stepwise multiple linear regression, revealed that Performance Expectancy (PE), Habit (HB), and Instructor Characteristics (IC) were significant predictors of Actual Use (AU) with an accuracy of 54.22%. Higher levels of PE, HB, and IC were found to positively influence the acceptance and utilization of medical eLearning platforms. The findings from this study can provide valuable insights for the Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines, aiding in the enhancement of eLearning platforms for medical education. Although this research primarily focused on UTAUT2 and two additional variables-Learning Value and Instructor Characteristicsthe results offer substantial implications for the broader development f eLearning platforms in the medical field.

The expressive quality of synthesized speech for audiobooks is limited by generalized model architecture and unbalanced style distribution in the training data. To address these issues, in this paper, we propose a self-supervised style enhancing method with VQ-VAE-based pre-training for expressive audiobook speech synthesis. Firstly, a text style encoder is pre-trained with a large amount of unlabeled text-only data. Secondly, a spectrogram style extractor based on VQ-VAE is pre-trained in a self-supervised manner, with plenty of audio data that covers complex style variations. Then a novel architecture with two encoder-decoder paths is specially designed to model the pronunciation and high-level style expressiveness respectively, with the guidance of the style extractor. Both objective and subjective evaluations demonstrate that our proposed method can effectively improve the naturalness and expressiveness of the synthesized speech in audiobook synthesis especially for the role and out-of-domain scenarios. 1
