This study addresses the problem of academic timetabling for short-term revenue generating online training programs. The goal of the problem is to find an assignment of faculty to various modules of the training program by incorporating faculty preferences for lecture topics without violating the precedence relation among lecture topics and by assigning the lectures as per faculty preference. We proposed an Integer programming model and tested the applicability for a real short-term certification/Executive program in one of the premier institutes in India (IIT/IIM). We analyzed the importance of the fair distribution of modules among the faculties and provided the optimal faculty-module assignment for each slot. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper proposes an algorithm to optimize the walking of humanoid robots based on the inverse kinematic model combined with a Genetic Algorithm. The objectives are to improve the sagittal displacement of the robot and reduce possible lateral deviations during a predetermined path. The foot of the humanoid performs a tapered motion, an approximate ellipse. Horizontal and vertical speeds and the angulation of the humanoid trunk are the input parameters of the algorithm. The algorithm utilizes the input information to calculate the inverse kinematics, and then it submits the obtained result to an evaluation function. We develop a virtual simulator and a robotic platform with 14 degrees of freedom to validate the proposed algorithm. We then test a prototype using the best result obtained in the simulations.

How to elect the representatives in legislative bodies is a question that every modern democracy has to answer. This design task has to consider various elements so as to fulfill the citizens’ expectations and contribute to the maintenance of a healthy democracy. The notion of proportionality, in that the support of a given idea in the house should be nearly proportional to its support in the general public, lies at the core of this design task. In the last decades, demographic aspects beyond political support have been incorporated by requiring that they are also fairly represented in the body, giving rise to a multidimensional version of the apportionment problem. In this work, we provide an axiomatic justification for a recently proposed notion of multidimensional proportionality and extend it to encompass two relevant constraints often used in electoral systems: a threshold on the number of votes that a list needs in order to be eligible and the election of the most-voted candidate in each district. We then build upon these results to design methods based on multidimensional proportionality. We use the Chilean Constitutional Convention election (May 15-16, 2021) results as a testing ground—where the dimensions are given by political lists, districts, and genders—and compare the apportionment obtained under each method according to three criteria: proportionality, representativeness, and voting power. While local and global methods exhibit a natural trade-off between local and global proportionality, including the election of most-voted candidates on top of methods based on 3-dimensional proportionality allows us to incorporate both notions while ensuring higher levels of representativeness and a balanced voting power. The gaming industry has changed since advanced technologies and hardware specifications were able to create the possibility of gaming with connective network or known as online gaming. Some communities are accepting positively, and others are contradicted. Thus, there is an urgency to know the insight from their sentiment. The present research extracts 10 thousand sentiments at social media with sentiment text analysis. The text is interpreted into six based emotions namely anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, and surprise. The mining analysis by lexicon valance aware dictionary and sentiment reasoner (VADER) projects the Joy emotions as the domination result with 94.74%. Positive joy expression on online gaming is revealed by extracting the sentiment analysis. In total, ten thousand data were collected from the corpus, which resulted in the happy sentiments that were experienced.

The cardiac muscle is elastic and deformable. Pushing a catheter in contact with the cardiac muscle surface to conduct focal energy-based ablative therapies, such as RF ablation, requires an adequate electrode-tissue contact surface to transfer the energy to the target site. In this regard, the relationship between the contact force (CF) and the resulting mechanical response is still unclear, in particular, the insertion depth (ID) and the diameter of the surface deformation. The objective of this study was to quantify these relationships using an ex vivo model and a computational model. A rigid bar with a 2.3 mm diameter blunt tip (mimicking a 7Fr standard ablation catheter) was placed at a perpendicular orientation on a fragment of the porcine heart. CF values ranged from 10 to 80g. We used ANSYS to build a Mooney-Rivlig model of 3 parameters based on hyperelastic material and to simulate the same conditions as in the experiments. The experimental results showed a strong linear correlation between CF and insertion depth ID ( $\mathrm{R}^{2}=0.97, \mathrm{P} < 0.001$ ), from $0.7 \pm 0.3$ mm at 10 gto $6.9 \pm 0.1$ mm at 80 g. We also found a strong linear correlation between CF and minor and major diameters of the surface deformation assessed, from $4.0 \pm 0.4$ mm at 20 g to $10.3 \pm 0.0$ mm at 80 g ( $\mathrm{R}^{2}=0.96$ ), and from $6.4 \pm 0.7$ mm at 20 g to $16.7 \pm 0.1$ mm at 80 g ( $\mathrm{R}^{2}=0.95$ ), respectively. A descent gradient algorithm was used to minimize the mean square error (MSE) between the experimental and computational results of ID for the 10 values of CF. After trying different combinations for the3 parameters of the Mooney-Rivlig model, an optimal fit was achieved after 5 iterations, with an error of less than 0.55 mm for ID. This same mode was then used to predict the diameter of the surface deformation, obtaining an error of less than 0.65 mm. The results confirm that a Mooney-Rivlig model of three parameters based on

During the response and recovery phases of a disaster, an important issue is waste management, which includes generation, transportation, transfer, processing, recycling, and reuse of debris. In this paper, we analyzed the logistical process related to the management of 5400 metric tons of waste from the 2019 oil spill in Brazil, considering environmental impacts and cleaning efforts. The analyses show the quantities handled by the state governments responsible for the operation and the main destination of the residues, which was the cement industry. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Hypergraphs provide a superior modeling frame-work for representing complex multidimensional relationships in the context of real-world interactions that often occur in groups, overcoming the limitations of traditional homogeneous graphs. However, there have been few studies on hypergraph-based contrastive learning, and existing graph-based contrastive learning methods have not been able to fully exploit the high-order correlation information in hypergraphs. Here, we propose a Hypergraph Fine-grained contrastive learning (HyFi) method designed to exploit the complex high-dimensional information inherent in hypergraphs. While avoiding traditional graph augmentation methods that corrupt the hypergraph topology, the proposed method provides a simple and efficient learning augmentation function by adding noise to node features. Furthermore, we expands beyond the traditional dichotomous relationship between positive and negative samples in contrastive learning by introducing a new relationship of weak positives. It demonstrates the importance of fine-graining positive samples in contrastive learning. Therefore, HyFi is able to produce high-quality embeddings, and outperforms both supervised and unsupervised baselines in average rank on node classification across 10 datasets. Our approach effectively exploits high-dimensional hypergraph information, shows significant improvement over existing graph-based contrastive learning methods, and is efficient in terms of training speed and GPU memory cost. The adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies is profoundly reshaping the landscape of production operations management. These new technologies facilitate the coordination and data sharing among various manufacturing resources, eliminating data silos. However, this also imposes new requirements on the security and efficiency of production operations. This study proposes a Cyber-Physical Space architecture centered on blockchain, combined with other Industry 4.0 technologies, aimed at empowering the production operations of smart factories. Evaluating the performance of machine learning models under distribution shifts is challenging, especially when we only have unlabeled data from the shifted (target) domain, along with labeled data from the original (source) domain. Recent work suggests that the notion of disagreement, the degree to which two models trained with different randomness differ on the same input, is a key to tackling this problem. Experimentally, disagreement and prediction error have been shown to be strongly connected, which has been used to estimate model performance. Experiments have led to the discovery of the disagreement-on-the-line phenomenon, whereby the classification error under the target domain is often a linear function of the classification error under the source domain;and whenever this property holds, disagreement under the source and target domain follow the same linear relation. In this work, we develop a theoretical foundation for analyzing disagreement in high-dimensional random features regression;and study under what conditions the disagreement-on-the-line phenomenon occurs in our setting. Experiments on CIFAR-10-C, Tiny ImageNet-C, and Camelyon17 are consistent with our theory and support the universality of the theoretical findings. © 2023 Proceedings of Machine Learning Research.
